  • Hey Guys! Welcome back to my channel. In today’s video I’m going to cook some good ole Country Pork Neck Bones. I haven’t made them in a few years but they turned out better than ever. I have to thank my daughter Sierra for telling me to add fat back because it really brings out the flavor of pork. I wasn’t really a big fan of them when I cooked them as an adult until I learned how to cook them. Thanks Sierra!
*** Now this isn’t a dish for anyone who doesn’t eat pork. Please keep all rude comments to yourself!***
    Pork Neck Bones:
    3 Large Pork Neck Bones
6 to 8 Strips Fat Back
    2 Cups Chopped Celery
    1 Large Onion Chopped
    8 to 10 Cups Water
    1 Cup Vinegar
    1/2 Cup Salt
    2 Teaspoons Garlic Salt
    1 Teaspoon Granulated Onion
    1 Teaspoon Granulated Garlic
    1 Teaspoon Basil
    1 Teaspoon Seasoning Salt
1 Teaspoon Slap Ya Mama Seasoning
    1 Teaspoon Sazon Seasoning
1/2 Teaspoon Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
    1/2 Teaspoon Black Pepper
    6 Bay Leaves
Wash neck bones then add them to a bowl in your sink. Add the vinegar and salt and fill the bowl with water. Mix together until the salt is dissolved. This will help to clean the pork. Let sit for 30 minutes.
Once time is up pour off water and clean the neck bones removing anything that looks undesirable.
Using a large boiler pot place the neck bones in it. Add the celery and onions, the seasonings, the fat back and the bay leaves. Lastly add enough water to cover everything in the pot about 8 to 10 cups.
Cook over medium high heat until the pot comes to a rapid boil. At this time reduce the heat and cook over medium heat. You will continue to lower the heat until the pot is boiling at the speed that you want.
Cook for two hours. During the cooking process, occasionally check the liquid level. I didn’t have to add anymore water to mine.
Once done turn the heat back up to boil down to a thickened sauce. You won’t have to add any thickening to your liquid because the neck bones thicken naturally.
    Let cool before serving.
Serve over rice with a side of green beans or cabbage and cornbread. Enjoy!

    Thanks and God bless!

My dad taught me was how to prepare neck bones. I'm 35 and make em at least twice a month. After cleaning them I take a Tablespoon of better than bouillon garlic base and stir it into the water. Season, add the onion and after a half hour add black eyed peas. At the 2 hr mark I remove the meat and make a rue (cornstarch/flour) mix to thicken the juice into a gravy (must be careful not to over thicken). I like em hot out the pot over my bed of basmati rice topped with Frank's red and a side of corn bread. Have a good sleep after that 😪. Great video.

I don't eat pork but I do eat Beef Neck Bones and I change the recipe according to my taste at the time. Your kid's reaction to it reminded me of a time, back when I used to eat Frog Legs, and I told my kids it was chicken. And just like your girls, they were killing it before they knew what it was. The difference is, like you said you should have done, I waited until they were finished before telling them the truth. They were fat and satisfied until I said it was Frog Legs! My son literally started crying and threw up! He was SO MAD AT ME he didn't even want to talk to me. He never ate another Frog Leg and I didn't cook anymore. Of course, now I don't eat any of that kind of stuff, pork included. Loved your video! 😊❤

Hey Gerome! Neck bones taste like a pork roast or ribs. If you love pork ribs you will love neck bones but they have less meat. If you do cook them and love them the next time you want the same flavor but with more meat, use country style pork ribs. You’ll have more meat but you will have to adjust your cooking time so you won’t dry out the ribs. Thanks for watching and God bless!

My lil sister was the same way. It makes no sense not to eat something after you ate it already and said how good it was. Especially when you eat the animal. What wrong with eating the neck if you eat the ribs and butt. I remember my sister was eating a deer roast. We asked her if she liked it and she said it was delicious. So my brother told her it’s deer roast. Then says yuck and spits it out. It was my first time trying it too but I knew what it was.

Look at all the grease from the fat. Not good for your arteries. That is why I always let it cool and when the grease forms I remove it. Cook the vegetables in a separate pan. After grease is removed then add your vegetables.

Why not boil them for about 20 minutes and then wash them in hot water .. Then season them and stuff.. I'm not going to eat your cooking 😒

Wash your meat BEFORE cooking them! Why cook something them wash it?
You shower before you get dressed, not the other way around.

I've near seen or heard of anyone adding fat back to neckbones. What does it do? I'm considering trying that the next time i make some.

Hunni I would have never thought that it made a difference until my Daughter Sierra told me how she cooked hers.
I never really cared for them before because I never used fat back to help season them. Cook them and let me know if you can tell the difference 😉

Always Clean & wash neck bones first & par boil your neck bones then pour off water rinse neck bones & start with fresh water & seasonings.. You’ll be surprised what comes off of them.

How long do you pre boil them?

Boil them until you see all the brown foam come off the neck bones & that could be 30! minutes.. Then rinse them thoroughly.. You’ve just given them a good bath.. This needs to be done with chitterlings to remove the grease after you’ve cleaned them though…
