The stars certainly were in alignment for Williams, Donner, Spielberg, and Lucas. All at the height of their powers, it was just one hit after the next. This is one of the best of the best scores.
I remember how excited I was as a young kid seeing that for the first time! Even now at the age of 47 I get overwhelmed with joy and excitement everytime I see that scene!!!
I can't stand John Williams thesedays but his earlier work like this is simply perfection. Both the 1978 film and it's music have never been, nor ever will be bettered no matter how many times Warner Bros attempt it.
Would you like to elaborate on what you dislike about him these days? I understand his Star Wars today is mostly derivative of his work in the 70's and 80's (though you could say that about the entire ST storyline itself). Want to know more about the modern examples you're drawing from.
The Krypton theme is epic! At University of Georgia games the band plays it right before the start of the 4th quarter! Just an epic piece.
My Favorite Williams Soundtrack of all time. Perfect
My favorite John Williams. The Krypton theme alone....WOW!
Agree such a grandiose theme - love it! And so simple - a two bar phrase repeated/ imitated with an ascending major scale - fantastic!

Zemeckis and James Cameron as well.
@@johngray5826 Absolutely. Good point.
What an awesome time to be alive and a kid!!
Superman is the wonderful 1978 film directed by Richard Donner and star Christopher Reeve as the lead and John Williams score is one of the best
Couldn’t have said it better myself
This is a BEAUTIFUL composition. I’ve always liked it since childhood.
The Planet Krypton theme is the true spine wrencher here my friends.....
My God! No doubt about that. What a score.
Masterpiece of a score
Kind of score that you instantly go: Maestro! Say what you will, but the love theme always causes a tingle. Beautiful and somehow moving.
Christopher Reeve is the One and only Superman for All Time!
And Margot Kidder the One and only Lois Lane for All Time!
The moment Clark changes into Superman and takes flight up to save Lois from the Helicopter is to me the best scene in the movie.
I remember how excited I was as a young kid seeing that for the first time! Even now at the age of 47 I get overwhelmed with joy and excitement everytime I see that scene!!!
@@Loverrover this is also the moment when the whole world will know who he will be pretty soon
Christopher Reeve will always be Superman

Now that I have the Superman skin on fortnite, I can play this music anytime I feel like being super.
Naturally, the original release is preferred, because you always gravitate to the first listen, and it annoys me when they change things up.
My ex could play the sh/tout of this on french horn
You lost a keeper my dood
