Just imagine beating the shit out of someone for like 7 minutes, blood dripping down their face and they're still coming at you like the fight hasn't started. Diaz got the body of a triathlete and the head of a fucking cinderblock.
One of the biggest wins in UFC history. When people talk about iconic moment. After he taps Conor, his face bloody and camera catches him make that face. Moment is immortalized.
Me too, I was laid up with a crook back leading up to it and watched every bit of commentary I could find and was convinced by the experts Nate had almost no chance, Conor was undefeated and appeared to be unstoppable and so confident I believed him. I was so stoked when Nate pulled off the seemingly impossible.
Bro, Nate combinations are just INSANE. But, what's even crazier is the fact that THAT ain't his best skill, I mean, his constant pressure just drains the gas tank of his opponents, making them do stupid things like going for a takedown having no wrestling background. Amazing.
I think people forget how amazing this shit was to watch live and see all the hype and the interviews and chats. Almost brings a tear to my eye. As an american the diaz brothers were some bad ass dudes. And then an an irish austrian guy connor was just entertaining as hell. The fans of mma yearn for shit like this again. Sure there's great fighters now but there has not been this hype of a fight or rivarly for at least three years. Mma is sadly past its prime era :l hopefully soon some new guys will be that alluring.
This is the first event I went to in person. Absolutely electric. Most of the crowd was stunned when Nate stole the momentum and took control. I thought it would go the distance, with Connor winning 4 rounds, and Nate putting up a respectable effort. I was a fool. I didn’t think Nate was good enough, but he proved how valuable durability and endurance are.
He was supposed to fight RDA for the lightweight title: Rafael got injured so they found a replacement in Nate Diaz. Maybe he bit more than he could chew, but that's why he was a great fighter: great fighters don't play safe and take chances.
Yo the music definitely intensifies the fight. It's unbelievable how perfect Nates combos/sequences was after that initially R jab Lstraight. That the way he mounted Conor, then got McGregors back. The single punch before slapping the choke on. It was like (and still is) watching a MASTER at work.
I liked the Conor quote after the fight where he said he was surprised how many shots a man in this bigger weight class could take. Most of the shots he hit Nate with would've KO'ed the featherweights
I remember watching this fight at my homies pad when I was at rock bottom shit reminded me of what my coach taught me best to never stop fighting or give up all you need is that one shot that can change your life, I prayed everyday that God would give me one last chance to get back up in exchange I would pay him back and push my limits and give back I always had the tools to make in happen and the best mentor on the planet I just needed the opportunity to stand tall and the rest would be history we all make mistakes and deserve a second chance
I remember calling this one ahead of time before ot happened.... Conor gonna crack him like "whyd he not go down"? Crack him some more... Nate start hittin back... Connor crack him more like "wtf" n get overwhelmed cause he never fought anyone who could take his shots clean.....
Conors lack of cardio and recovery beat him, along with nates exceptional cardio and recovery. Conors gameplan was to go in there and get nate out in 1 or 2 but nates chin and conors lungs had another idea 😂😂 The 2nd fight conor won but even in that his cardio was letting him down in the later rounds. I would love to have seen a conor mcgregor with great cardio. He would have been a beast.
Not sure if you guys noticed, but when Connor gave he’s back to Diaz and Diaz started grabbing him from the neck… diaz gave one last punch to push Connor’s head into he’s head lock. Diaz is an intelligent fighter!
Meet both brothers in San Diego in 2020 . We were at a cheap taco stand. Initially, I had no clue who they were until their manager randomly started chatting with me while I was ordering. To make a long story short, I glance over a see these two guys, who look oddly similar, just shadow boxing. He’s like they are fighters. They do MMA. People were just randomly blowing their horns and walking up asking for pics. Nick grabbed my phone and went to his instagram(which he doesn’t even manage). We took a picture .Then we departed. *REAL HUMBLE GUYS*
Nate taking those hits and bloody faced keeps coming at you is very very intimidating
This fight gives me chills. I'll never understand how Nate didn't get a title shot when everyone he faced got chances.
He got a title shot against Benson Henderson. Besides that, Nate never had an long winning streak

He should've fought khabib
For real!?
This was way before he beat mcgregor...@@mhmmd731
Nate was literally slapping Conner around at points 😂
That’s literally just what he does lmao. Doesn’t make sense but he makes his mark by taking a beating and enduring longer and deeper into fights

Nate was the type to never capitalize as the favorite, but would always show up when he was the big underdog.
Conor had no business jumping up two weight classes. Ambitious but risky. His ego definitely took a beating after this.
