People that started watching MMA when the UFC started to blow up on main stream social media, you don’t even know who Nick is, his personality or skill😂Nate is a legend man but he’ll even tell you he’s always just wanted to be like his older bro👊🏾
Nick was the OG, if newer fans think nate was good and a gangster you need to go watch nick, nate is what he is due to nick, legend in pride, legend in strikeforce and a UFC legend, the BJ penn fight, Lawler 1, joe riggs, shamrock, Silva, Condit, Paul daly, the mans fought the best of the best and stayed true to himself
Nick was a legend. FUCKEN Nevada Athletic state committee kept him from fighting during his prime in the UFC just cuz he tested positive for smoking weed. Was suspended for years.
I think Nick was a G, but Nate is really good too. People don’t gift him enough credit. He has beaten some legit monsters. And he went toe to toe with the Champ Leon and almost knocked him out.
Nick was more accomplished as far as championships. But I believe Nate fought tougher competition more consistently in the ufc then nick did in elite xc and strikeforce. But nicks biggest wins were against better guys than Nate’s biggest wins, except for Conor at the time. Nate’s best wins in my opinion were Conner, Cowboy, and Jim Miller I think they were all at their primes. (Primes is just referring to fighting years and performances before and after) then Nate has some big wins vs Michael johnson, guillard, neer and pellegrino. Who were good but just inconsistent. Then there were wins vs pettis, gomi, Maynard, Marcus Davis and tony who I think were all just over the hill when they fought Nate, however Nate too was also older when he fought pettis and tony, and the first fight with gray they were both young in their careers but it doesn’t count as a professional win. The win vs manny gamburyan was a freak injury in a fight that wasn’t really close up to that point. Nates losses however were all to fighters within the top 10 at the time of fighting or at some point in their careers top 5 other than Oishi but that fight was made just because of his brothers win over koji before. Nicks best wins are BJ, Gomi, Daley, and lawler. The fight vs Robbie aged well after 2013, but I believe robbie was a late bloomer while nick was early. Daley had the fight not been for a title I don’t know if it would have been such a big win, and the fights with bj and gomi I think both fighters were still in their primes but the fights with nick changed them both. Some big wins nick had were Chris lytle, Josh neer, Gleason tibau, drew fickett, Scott smith, zaromskis. Who were all tough just inconsistent as well. I would include kj noons and cyborg too but on the lower half of the prestige list noons best win was a cut stoppage over Diaz, and really didn’t have many other big wins. And cyborg was just known mainly for his wife. Then nick has wins over older fighters like shamrock, and sakurai. Nicks fought and lost to some of the best fighter ever But he also has losses to lesser competition. Overall nick fought the bigger names more but also lost most of those fights. Nick at his best was between the shamrock and bj fights, his best performance was against BJ, Daley, or gomi. Nate was at his best between the gomi and Jim Miller fights, his best performances were cowboy, Miller, and Conor. Nate will say nicks better but I think that’s mostly because he’s his brother.
I'm a huge Nate Diaz fan and he is my favorite fighter but I aint even disputing that Nick Diaz is better than him. Nick really disciplined Nate in their younger years and Nate idolized Nick really hard. Nick is the reason why Nate is a good fighter and having a strong will to never back down. Nick is definitely a fighting genius but he got alot of inner demons. Nate fights with his instinct which he learned from years of training. If Dana White did not exploit Nate and fed him to older/more experienced fighters, Nate would have had a better fighting record. But at least it made Nate mentally stronger and not take everything too seriously.
Man Rogan loves an anecdote & will never let an anecdote go. Rogan allows anecdotes to dictate his thoughts moreso than actual competition & results. He truly is our generations John Madden.
At no point in this clip (or during that whole podcast) did Joe ever say ""Nate Diaz is Better Than Nick Diaz". The uploader used the 'blueprint' of stating the opposite of what was said/ implied by Joe as clickbait, knowing it would get him more views. It's not good that so many people seem to miss this or they just don't care enough to say something and they let this kind of bullshit dishonest behavior slide.
No way,and that's coming from a Nate Diaz fanatic But Nick went trough strikeforce one of the two, dude was knocking out guys twice his size, getting massive hits, and turning into an arm bar,he was so technically sound combined with that Stockton northern Cali water Nate drinks,he was deadliwr
Diaz brothers fought for food as youngsters. Came to the gym just cuz they offered them food and did had a lack of it at home.. Talk about motivation. If you stand infront of them in a fight tou are the thing between them and their food.. That is their mentality since they were kids. Beasts. But they’ve got old now. Glory days are over for them. But they are legends full of heart.
Both Diaz brothers were incredible. But one of my favorite lines from nate was when he was being picked on was he scared. He said nah, my brother was nick.
Nate Vs Leon is why the last round should be worth everything in a fight. Nate litterally hit Leon with the biggest shot of the fight that Leon ran away for the rest of the fight and was still crowed champion.
Nick was a hell of a fucking fighter, especially in Strikeforce. And he was more suited for the ring or the Strikeforce hexagon as it was harder for guys to circle away. Lots of people didn't wanna fight Paul Daley. I remember Condit pulled out of a fight against him and Paul talked a lot of shit on him for it lol and Nick went in there and took Daley out in 1 round. Daley beat Masvidal too.
I like Nate more honestly but man i can never really grasp how good Nick was back in the day. 11 fight win streak throughout many major organizations and becoming champ with multiple defenses in Strikeforce. Just a great fighter what else can a man say
Before the Robbie Lawler rematch Nick was only finished once in FORTY (40!) professional fights by TKO (Jeremy Jackson), and that TKO he already fought twice in that same night (old styled tournaments) and we was never submitted. There is not even footage of Nick Diaz tapping ever. I can't believe he is never talked about as one of the GOATs. My top 5 GOAT list is Jon Jones, Nick Diaz, Anderson Silva, GSP, Fedor.
Nick diaz vs paul daley is my favorite mma fight of all time. Just one round of pure utter chaos, absolutely insane rollercoaster. Nick is a top 10 in my book, that run he had was LEGIT. What was it, 16-1 or something? That one loss was a doctor stoppage because nick was bleeding too much. And we all know that bleeding profusely is just how the diaz bros take showers, so hardly a real loss
Nick in his prime was one of my favorite fighters. He got screwed man. It’s upsetting how it was over weed and now the state just shrugs like ehhh it’s just weed
Nick was my guy! My pops met him in Garfield NJ doing laundry at the laundrymat we frequent. This was about 11 or 12 years ago. I was still in high school. My father called me out the blue like "Chris, i think your favorite fighter is here at the laundrymat! Hes got cauliflower ear" I partially couldn't believe him, but i was mostly scared to go to the laundry just to ask for a picture. So my pops got a picture with him instead lol I regret never meeting my idol though. I shouldve just grown a pair and walked my ass the 3 minutes it wouldve took to get to the laundrymat.
Nick is on another level than Nate. Nate has his own thing, and is plenty badass. But Nick was the original, and just miles ahead of everyone else. I miss seeing Nick create his art. It was PURE ART too. No doubt. Hope all is well with that guy. It was a great 10yrs of watching him fight (2005-2015). He should be worth minimum of $5M. Sad thing is, he could fight twice more, with the right opponents and bag $3-4M easy.
A performance enhancing drug and a drug that helps you perform better are such different things, taking steroids too make you faster, stronger, hit harder, and recover faster is so different from a drug that relaxes your nerves and helps you perform better.
Nick is literally a better version of Nate. That's why I'm so anxious to see his comeback. If I had to pick a single mma fighter "past their prime" to come back and wreak havoc, it's Nick ALL DAY. He's one of the most well rounded mma fighters of all time.
Nick vs Gomi , Nick vs Daley, Nixk vs Cyborg are my favs . That Gomi fight PRIDE 33, Nicks face looked like a pizza supreme as Gomi split his orbital . But Gomi's cardio was awful and Nick just peppered him and wore his ass out . That fight is awesome .
I actually agree with this, if Nick didnt have to constantly deal with the commission for smoking weed (but jones can powder up before a fight, will never understand this) and gotten tied down with that, I think he'd be recognized as the better one but he unfortunately spent most of his prime basically trying to prove what everyone already knew....weed is not a PED lol.
Nick's problem was not that he was in the UFC in his "prime", it was that if he was he'd have had to beat prime GSP to become champion. So if he was there he'd have never been champion. I'd also add to that he came back to the UFC from strikeforce still in his prime, and outclassed Penn. But wasn't food enough to beat Condit or GSP. There's levels and being dominant in strikeforce doesn't equate to being dominant in the UFC. But Nick at his best was great and definitely better than any version of Nate. Nick really needed to improve his takedown defence at minimum, but he never did. That big whole would always stop him being truly great. Same for Nate. But that did make them have very entertaining fights.
I rock with Rogan but man he always has this “I know more about MMA” aura about him Ik he’s incredibly smart when it comes to mma but everytime I see him talk even with fighters he always has that vibe like “I know more than you stfu and lemme talk rq”
All due respect to Nate, but Nick's boxing is just on a whole other level. Nick takes his opponents to the deep end and drowns them. Pretty fkn amazing to watch. Definitely in my top 2 best MMA fighters.
As much as I hate to admit it, I'd say Joe is right, at least for an experienced weed smoker. Fighting high could be an advantage, I know it helps me focus if I'm working on a project. It's not going to help you physically like steroids would, no muscle building, no quicker recovery.
Nick was better in every aspect, just watching both of them fight would tell you that. Nick is faster, more coordinated and more skilled with not only the stamina but would actually push an insane pace. Nate tends to let his opponent dictate the pace for the most part unless he strings them. Nick had more thump on his strikes as well

His ATTITUDE that's what he has on everybody. 2nd to NONE heart.
Nick vs Gomi is the fight i show people when i tnraduce them to MMA.
Introduce *
Nick was beast. Some ppl forgot , most never knew.
Both are tied for best Diaz Brother ever.
Nick and strikeforce was absolutely unbelievable... Those Diaz brothers were so tough but it did take a toll on their bodies... Especially hearing the reason why they both cut so easily due to the wear and tear on their skin.
Nate will always say that nick is better, but they don’t give a shit anyways
Nick was a legend. FUCKEN Nevada Athletic state committee kept him from fighting during his prime in the UFC just cuz he tested positive for smoking weed. Was suspended for years.
Legendary Diaz Brothers they’re solidified in history 💯💪🏻
I stopped reading halfway through but it sounds like you know your sh*t. Sincerely, a casual
@@xgtwb6473 I realized after posting it that I wasted a shit ton of time typing it up last night lol
I ain’t read all that lmao
Bro never watched ufc before
idk man nick fought gsp and silva 2 top 5 ufc fighters ever
What a shame Nick's prime was stripped away from a stupid system that gives you a little suspension for PED's and 5 years for marijuana.
What a freaking legend
1:01 “he’s in the fire right here!”
Joe sounds like Christopher Walken right there 😂
Shane looking like my wife when she brings up one of my hobbies kills me 😂
Young Nick, just never gassed out and really couldn't be hurt. From the opening second to the closing second.
Nick had crazy pressure. He was putting combos on people. Nick Diaz vs Jorge Masvidal!
2 fights I always go back to are Korean Zombie vs Poirier and Rory Macdonald vs Robbie Lawler
No comparison, they both have the same style but one is the master the other is the prize pupil. Nate would tell you that. Nick was the best
No way,and that's coming from a Nate Diaz fanatic
But Nick went trough strikeforce one of the two, dude was knocking out guys twice his size, getting massive hits, and turning into an arm bar,he was so technically sound combined with that Stockton northern Cali water Nate drinks,he was deadliwr
“He knocked one of my friends out”
“You guys just having fun?” 😭😭
Shoulda showed him the Daley fight and changed his life
Nick is obviously better but Nate has the best 1 , 2 in the business so clean and quick
Nick getting suspended for weed was the worst thing for the sport. Not being able to enjoy him fighting ruined a lot of my earlier UFC years tbh
Joe needs to educate Shane. So many more incredible fights from the past era of MMA!
Nick in his prime was one of my favorite fighters. He got screwed man. It’s upsetting how it was over weed and now the state just shrugs like ehhh it’s just weed
Nick was title challenger/potential champion material. Nate is definitely a bigger draw though.
He was a champion in numerous organisations
nick is my favourite ufc fighter ever. I just love his fighting style so much
Nicks career was ruined by the machine.
I remember when Nick submitted Gomi in Pride
Nick was my guy! My pops met him in Garfield NJ doing laundry at the laundrymat we frequent. This was about 11 or 12 years ago.
I was still in high school.
My father called me out the blue like "Chris, i think your favorite fighter is here at the laundrymat! Hes got cauliflower ear"
I partially couldn't believe him, but i was mostly scared to go to the laundry just to ask for a picture. So my pops got a picture with him instead lol
I regret never meeting my idol though. I shouldve just grown a pair and walked my ass the 3 minutes it wouldve took to get to the laundrymat.
Shane would be the type to say “flicking you off”😂😂
Nick made Nate the tough MFer he is.. fam is fam.
Imagine those brothers on a landscaping crew…just dominating
Nick vs Gomi , Nick vs Daley, Nixk vs Cyborg are my favs . That Gomi fight PRIDE 33, Nicks face looked like a pizza supreme as Gomi split his orbital . But Gomi's cardio was awful and Nick just peppered him and wore his ass out . That fight is awesome .
I really hope Nick Diaz knows how appreciated he really is
shoulda showed Shane the Diaz v Thomas Denny fight. That was a battle.
The Nick vs Daley was top 3 fights of all time
Nick's problem was not that he was in the UFC in his "prime", it was that if he was he'd have had to beat prime GSP to become champion.
I rock with Rogan but man he always has this “I know more about MMA” aura about him
Ik he’s incredibly smart when it comes to mma but everytime I see him talk even with fighters he always has that vibe like “I know more than you stfu and lemme talk rq”
Nick was ufc champ level for a long time in strike force , Nate was a good top 10 guy for a his whole career, both legendary
“he knocked one of your friends out 😦” 😂
There's a reason it's called Nick Diaz Army! Not Nate
nick walked so nate called run
Shane saying “Flicking you off” was driving me nuts, it’s “Flipping” not “flicking”
Nate would be the first to tell you nick is better
FR🎉
i don't understand how the title of the video correlates to the content
All due respect to Nate, but Nick's boxing is just on a whole other level. Nick takes his opponents to the deep end and drowns them. Pretty fkn amazing to watch.
Definitely in my top 2 best MMA fighters.
Joe can't say it but Nick vs. Gomi in Pride was the best Diaz fight ever.
Nick's SF and Dream days and Pride fight were EPIC
Diaz Daley is what made me a Nick fan. Such an insane fight
Pretty shitty of Dana 2 Daley like that tho....
Nick had more thump on his strikes as well
Forever my favorite fighter.. Nick the reason I still train to this very day..
