I seriously am at that point even though am starting out and at age 28 feeling really slow and need to catch up asap and there is a million thing to learn all at once. This video calmed me down I will try doing something fun no matter how bad. Thank you so so much Tyler ❤🙏
Thank you! I think that's a big part of it, we get flooded with so much to learn, it gets overwhelming so fast, we sort of have to remind ourselves to enjoy it sometimes lol
I took a Game Art and Design course from 2008 to 2010, but once I had my degree, I took a bit of a hiatus from art (about 10+ years). Every so often, I'll get an urge to create something, but it's mainly when I don't have the time. Most recently, I have been sketching things with/for my daughter, who is 7. She likes to do a drawing on the left side of the paper, and then have me redraw it on the right (Unicorns, Huggy Wuggy, Minions, etc). I saw that she was interested in The Amazing Digital Circus, so in February, I started a "Drawing A Day" page, where she got to pick which character was next. No strict rules, just do my best, to get as many as I could on a page (I think I made it to 6). We were going to do a March daily art calendar challenge, with the same rules, but I didn't find a list to work from, and now it's the 11th.
Thanks for sharing, what a great activity to do with your daughter! There's usually a month-based challenge every month, you could maybe find one of those (even from a different month, from last year or something). March of Robots, MerMay, KaiJune, Creaturanuary, etc. and if it's for the two of you, I wouldn't worry about sticking to a calendar month, the 11th totally works!
I'm really struggling with painting. I just moved from traditional and I draw pretty well because of my job (I'm engineer) but painting is something I struggle a lot.
I totally get this, painting still causes me a lot of pause, it just seems more daunting to me than, say, a prop sketch. I think just make a really easily-achievable goal (like paint something for an hour), and have no expectations for how it should come out. Try to just have fun, and get used to breaking that barrier of starting a painting (This is also advice to myself lol).
