Barry Finnerty is always doing an admirable solo on Last Call. I've admired and enjoyed it since the Royal Jam live recording. Reading about Barry's experience with the Crusaders is also amusing, he doesn't hesitate to speak out his mind - wonderful.
R.I.P. Mr.Wilton Felder.
Crusaders is the Jazz group who leads me to Jazz world at first from R&B and fusions in high school era. it was 45 yrs ago.
RIP Joe Sample
The fantastically talented David T. Walker on electric guitar....... who appeared together with the Crusaders in their seminal 1987 Newport Festival gig...
Hi "tunefultony johnson" I'm pretty sure it was Barry Finnerty doing the solo in the middle of the tune. And Walker did the introductory solo. Both in agreement with the video still pictures.
You are quite and absolutely correct, Paul. -- Personally, I prefer the highly distinctive playing of David T. Walker, but that's only a personal preference, you understand....
The solo by Barry Finnerty on the record is quite impressive. It's a bit more "dirty" on this live version, though still very close to the record.
Wilton Felder was the best IMO !! There are many that are close.
Geniais!
🧡🧡🧡
