Yes, I'll be getting to all aspects of Catalina over the coming weeks. Plus, I do plan to come out with a new edition of my Photos course for Catalina in the coming weeks.
Hi Gary, just upgraded to Catalina and found this very informative. On the finder preview pane I have selected Codecs as part of the preview options but when I choose a movie file I’m getting all the information but the codec information is not provided, I just see two dashes -
This was really helpful. It would be great If you could help me out with the safe boot on my mac .I always have to press and hold the command and *r* button to login to my mac .and after that when I try to type text it's all in capital letters even when I turn off the caps lock button.
I don't recall there being a pause, sorry. You can always make separate recordings and stitch them together in editing. Or, you can use one of the many third-party screen recording apps too.
What can you say about lots of people having crashes in Catalina, mine just reboots out of nothing and sometimes even the reboot crashes and then restart. Thanks
Hi Gary Little off topic but comments were turned off on a video you made back in 2017 about a neat little trick where you made a checklist and used a pie chart to follow its progress by percent. I just wanted to thank you for that video. I tried to make it and it worked perfectly. I made one slight change though and used a 2d stacked bar chart and chose a green color for the Completed and white for the uncompleted and its perfect all you see is the green color elevate as the steps get completed. Again thank you so much for the tip and I just wanted you to know
Gary. I have a MacMini it has a nvm-pcie card for storage no HD or SSD. The problem it is only 500 gb. Do you know how to upgrade that to say a 2tb version?
Hi guys, just updated today and i am having trouble syncing. The iphone has a sync logo next to it and no changes happening. Its been quite a long time. Please help.
When I installed Mac OSX Catalina, with the TV icon/app, when I play a movie, I don't have the option to do the next play episode and it only shows the 10 second forward or reverse. How do I get the play next button so that I don't have to decrease my viewing option when I'm wanting to watch the next episode. How do I get that option back at the bottom of the screen like before with previous OSX's?
Yes. For a while now on macOS if you move the edge of a window close to the edge of the screen, it snaps to it. Not sure if it is the same thing as what you are looking for, but it does do that. Try it.
I did a clean install of Catalina then migrated all my files from my backup. My music did not bring my playlists over and a lot of my album artwork that was there prior was now missing. Any problem with yours or have you heard of anyone else with this issue?
Why did you do a clean install like that? It means that your iTunes library wasn’t updated to Music, but rather imported later on, I suppose. I haven’t heard this from others, but most people just do the normal upgrade.
@@macmost I normally do a clean install (from usb) just my OCD I guess lol. Since I reverted to Mojave I may just try to upgrade without a clean install, see if that does the trick. I can always revert back. BTW props first on replying and even more props for replying FAST!!!
I'm new to Mac, having just bought an iMac to replace my PC about 2 months ago. I was just getting used to Mojave and now it's Catalina? Anyway, when Apple comes out with a new iOS, do we have to upgrade to it? If we don't, is that bad for the iMac?
It is always best to keep up with the latest software. And you are paying for these as part of the purchase price of your Mac, so wouldn't you want to keep up with the latest Apple is offering?

How come reviewers like you never talk about the inherent PROBLEMS associated with moving to the EXCEEDINGLY problematic Catalina? Why don’t you warn people that if they have a big iTunes library that they have spent two decades perfecting, it will be ruined by Catalina? MacRumors is now FULL of thousands of people complaining about the way Catalina destroyed their years of work on their music. Lost album art in the thousands and no longer a column browser to SEE your music are things people NEED to know about BEFORE moving to Catalina. People don’t need to know just about the good points of Catalina, they need to know about ALL the points of Catalina… including the bad and disruptive. Why is it that neither you, or Apple, can be open with people and simply tell the truth about what Catalina might do? Do you work for Apple?
