This is the most interesting bike that's come out this year. Would really like to see the Japanese come out with something like this.
They already did son
@@GODSWORD11 the DRZ 400SM doesn't count, this makes way more HP while weighing about the same
@@Motoboo_Marine I know. I have a 2012 Drz400sm a 2024 sm and a few other super motos. The Ducati is on my list in another year or 2, after they work out all the kinks.
We’re getting a new supermoto and a soon to be new dirt bike from Ducati. Let’s go!
Definitely want the dirt bike version of this
Hi Guys! Great news for Ducati lovers on a budget. By the way when do you do a top ten selling bikes video series? (USA sales) Thanks.
No tech, no problems!
Hmmm. Time to start accumulating parts for a retro repro Supermono and wait for a wrecked example to show up on Copart.
For that price does it come with a fuel gauge?
is the frame substantially different and rest of the stuff lighter than the regular Hypermotard? I guess if it rides the same as the V-twin, then it is not really that intertesting. If it does ride like a smaller and lighter bike like an actual converted supermoto, then it will have its appeal
Really good perspective on the bike and pricing. A big thumbs up. :-)
KTM, and Husky will certainly update their already capable 690 SM, and 701 SM, to meet the competition. I really think there is scope for these manufacturers to bring down the prices, also. This Ducati seems road focused, whilst the KTM 690 SM can double up as a mild off roader also. Is this the case , or is the Ducati designed to do mixed dirt and tarmac track, also??
Great point, no interest if it can’t ride multi surfaces
@@Ben-nj3lv Totally. I've had dual-sports and naked sport bikes in the past but at the moment my Yamaha WR250X goes everywhere from urban to backcountry fire roads on OEM tires. I will probably add a 701 SM to the fold soon to complement it and teach my wife to ride the X. Please keep your TFT screens and over the top tech off our fun machines. We will pay for quality suspension, fuel injection and brakes out of the box but thus far my feet and hands provide all the drive modes I need. Focus on keeping the organic, slightly raw experience as that's a big part of the joy of riding thumpers out in public.
I do love Ducati but not for anything I'll probably bin on the side of a dirt hill at some point and plan to maintain myself. I also like the idea of scramblers and the Desert X peaked my interest until I watched a video on what it took to perform oil changes. No thanks.
I’ve been riding both on and off-road for over twenty years. Obviously any bike can go off-road badly but why would you want to ride a bike off road not suited to it, surely it’s better to buy a bike that can handle it well. I would damage the suspension and crack those cast wheels in no time where I ride Which is expensive and pointless.
@@Ben-nj3lvWe do agree on something. A supermoto with cast wheels which might be too pretty to dump occasionally is pointless. If I wanted a big sumo the Husky 701 SM would be my choice in a heartbeat.
I come from a dual-sport background and when I trailered my dual-sport hundreds of miles away to events (where I needed the plate most of the time) it made sense. Not that I love riding a SM around in an urban environment and sometimes longer I also enjoy riding some Forrest Service roads with it to the top of the same hills.
I’m only riding in the same place you’d literally find a BMW GS riding. My single track heroics are in the past. I love it and my WR250X is good enough for that kinda of dirt. It’s way more fun to ride once I get back on tarmac than either of my prior dual-sports ever were.
Seems we have quite a bit in common, I ride mainly twisty countryside lanes and farm service roads on my 390 ADV too also coming form riding dual sport, it’s so much fun riding smaller capacity bikes to their limit without the inflated weight and risk to life and license of liter bikes.
Riding multi surface, light is right, I lost interest in heavier bikes long ago after riding in and out of the South African bush on smaller capacity dirt bikes like yours-exponentially more fun for the average rider than big ADV bikes.
I’m also planning to upgrade to the 701 soon, with the spoked wheels and more torque its a no brainer compared to the Hyper. I’m not sure if the Hyper even has a removable subframe, if that’s the case there’s no way i’d want that expensive liability off road.
I bought, and still own the first year Hyper, the 1100, and I’m buy the RVE version of this, with the Termi and wheelie assist program. Ever heard of a bike with wheelie assist? First time out. I don’t think anything will be able to touch this on a real curvy road…. Which is my preference. Plus, I’ve always wanted to wheelie and slide/drift better, and this is the bike to learn those skills on.
A 698 monster based on this would be sweet!! Would prob make for the lightest monster ever! That engine makes more power than the 803 in their scrambler!
Best suggestion of the day. Hey Ducati, are you listening?
Small screen is a good thing..
Looking forward to a cafe racer or sports bike, with that engine!
That makes two of us. I am seeing the same comment on numerical RUclips videos asking for a Supermono w/ this motor.
TFT screen wouldn’t suit this bike AT ALL!!
Come on. It has allllll the tech.
It looks amazing
Oh Ducati! Wait to you see the other side the company is going to jump into. Motocross/Supercross
Looks like a bargain that is ready to go. That’s not part of my budget. Still a cool bike!
That's a ton of hp and rpm from a single. Wowsers.
Indeed and all around 2000rpm higher than a KTM. You can keep it. The 690 will wipe the floor with it on the road.
"And it's cheaper to maintain!" (Said about a KTM for the first time ever.) @@howhistory5877
Ordered mine in RVE, Termignoni, and wheelie assist.
No you didn’t
They all come w wheelie assist fool
@@GODSWORD11 LOL. No, they don't. They come with wheelie control. Wheelie assist is a $300+ app you can only get if you get the Termignoni system. Now don't you feel like the fool?
@@DucatiDiaries false information bozo
@@DucatiDiaries you’ve never even sat on a bike, son
I wonder wut throwing some more sport faring would do like a baby v2
What is top speed of this bike?
Looking forward to a Desert V
Same price as the KTM 6 day Dualsport. But most of the Euro bikes are over 12k. Just the KTM is 100lbs lighter.
Whats top mph
Not sure how much more of a bike it is over the KTM/Husky/GasGas alternative?
It's not - all the extra power, including torque is around 2000 rpm higher. No thanks.
Think it’s more fun than the Ktm super moto?
The service intervals 🤌
What about them? Valve service isn’t until 18,000 miles……
Sorry, "damp weight" already exists and that's exactly what it means.
2024 ktm 690 smc r is 13999 msrp. i think. but this would be a good competitor
The Price seems high as all Ducatis but let's be real. Who other manufacturer have such an AESTHETIC DESIGN??! It's all about the looks guys. Compare the 2023 Yamahas. The look like Frankenstein! If you entered in a 20 year old BMW, it looks more luxury than a 2023 Toyota. I wish ducatis was cheaper but unfortunately there is no competition.
P.s. KTM 690 has the same looks since 2008!
VERY similar spec's to the ktm 690/701, so it's really not that innovative but it does create some competition in that class of "Big SM". IMO the bigger Duc Hyper's are cool bikes but not really SM's... this and the 690/701 at 340lbs are about as big as I'd ever want to see an SM get.
Agreed. I still can't believe that Yamaha or KTM haven't come out with a 450/500 enduro and/or SM built around a road focused motor. Something like a WR450X or the cancelled KTM 490 and Husqvarna 501 platform.
I know how to wheelie, I own a drz400 but i would practice my wheelies for a few days on the drz before trying one on this.. I want the Ducati but do not EVER want to let it hit the ground. Practice on the cheap moto first!
the Husky 701 costs over 10k and has like a digital speed gauge and some lamps, nothing more
It’s in mt09 price territory gonna be a hard sell but it says ducati on the side so who knows🤷♂️
I mean base price is pretty close to ktm690/Husqvarna701 pricing which i have to imagine is the closest competition.
Sadly no Yamaha reliability
If you get this bike and you don't know how to wheelie, rethink your choices
Buy the 690 instead - Better hp and torque far lower down the rev range - A no brainer for the road.
It supposedly has wheelie assist tech lol. Haha it's crazy all this tech
@@howhistory5877you’d choose the KTM 690 over this? Genuine question. DRZ owner here. Considering a 690, 701, or this new one.
@@samuelcabe3372 Any of the 690's. Down to your preference of colour!!!
I dont know how to wheelie. Like I have only done them by accident on my royal enfield bullet 500 because it has too much torque. But if business works out then i will for sure by it. Wheelie or not.
63Nm of torque not 63 ft lbs, and at that it has significantly lower torque even at higher revs than the KTM
price doesn’t seem that expensive, it’s pretty close to a husqvarna 701 and that has less features and an even more basic screen, plus it’s a Ducati, you gotta pay to play
I think you guys really don't understand this market. I ride a KTM 690 smcr, that is the competition for this Ducati. The other 2 bikes it competes with is the Husky 701 and the GasGas 690. It's not competition for the 450 race Supermoto.
Also to question the price shows you don't know how amazingly capable a Supermoto is. My KTM will destroy expensive sports bikes on twisty roads and the tech and parts are top of the line. This bike is for the most hardcore sports bike riders who realise that fun is in corners and wheelies. An amazing single of this level will blow your socks off. It's not a lesser engine. It won't go v4 1000 speeds, but if that is the comparison you miss the point of this bike
I think they should have made this model with a lower seat height to capture a bigger market. Why would you choose this bike over its bigger brother is the question for me✌🏽
No... go buy a used KTM 690 Duke or Ducati Scrambler then. For the love of God leave something for those of us who are 6' and don't want a fat ADV bike. A lower seat would shift it to a different market; not open it up. Almost every other motorcycle segment on the market features a "new, lower seat!" which I just can't ride.
@@kaptainkyle70 it ain't an adventure bike😁
3:34 "Moist weight" slides off the tongue better.
Give us no tech (ala Tenere 700) and spoke wheels and dirt tires. Keep it under 11k.
It needs better suspension.
Weight with fluids and no gas = "moist weight"
Ktm 690 enduro r
Can't wait for Ducati to make a 450 supermoto like the KTM smr
So track only?
13k and 15k for this model, no thanks at that price the Street Fighter and Panigale are a better choice. Also a single cylinder ready to fly out of the motor when the valve adjustment is not done.
Spending at least 18k for a base SF or Panigale….
