I just ordered mine and can't wait to receive it :) btw, was Vertical Arcade already set up like this at 3:46? I mean since it's a 1:1 screen it could just have been set up normally.
I don't get the appeal of 1:1 screens. They aren't suited for 4:3 or 16:9 consoles, more useful for DS but you still end up with a massive waste of screen real estate. I've been told 1:1 is the native aspect ratio of Pico-8 but I find it odd to design a handheld around a system that didn't actually exist.
Great for GB, GBC, NeoGeo Pocket, GameGear etc even GBA carries over pretty well. Even when there is wasted real estate often the image is still bigger compared to other handhelds.
@@CellPhish With all those you mention though either bezels or blank space is involved, as none of them are 1:1 ratio systems. Now I don't hate bezels but I'd rather not have them if possible, or being as minimal as possible if I have to have them. That's what's so great in a way. There's an option for most people out there when it comes to retro handhelds.
Only emulator enthusiasts can be happy with the least amount is screen real state possible!

Nice! Let me know how you like it. Yea it was already set up that way. You can adjust the orientation in the settings though.
if your going to go android.. might as well get a used Rog Ally...it will have way way way more power at the same price.
I really want to know how good this is with pico 8 games primarily

They’re certainly an acquired taste. I wasn’t a fan at first. They’ve been growing on me a bit lately.

Why would you play vertical shooters on a 1:1 screen while rotating the console vertically? Defeats its whole purpose
It was set up that way by default. I didn’t bother to change it. But it can be easily changed to your preference in the settings.
I think 1:1 still has its niche but its overrated. Its cool for 8-bit and 16-bit stuff but not a must have
I didn’t have the ds emulator
