- On April 29th, 2017, at approximately 8:30AM, FedEx flight 140 from Memphis to Calgary suffered what appeared to be a complete loss of their green hydraulic system, which meant that they had no nose gear steering, had to manually drop the gear before arrival, and be towed to their apron. After arrival, the green hydraulics strangely appeared to be back. I was lucky enough to be out spotting already that morning, and the sight of three fire trucks showing up on one of the runway entrances was certainly a clue that something was going on. Thankfully, the aircraft landed safely, and was towed off the runway after about 20 minutes. As one of the pilots said, "this'll be interesting for maintenance"! ATC is included.
Thanks for watching!

Gear doors were flapping on touchdown. They definitely had an odd situation and a manual gear extension.
Wow! Thanks for filming, and glad nothing serious happened.
The birds chirping was worth the listen
I am proud to be friends with a few FedEx pilots that fly out of Orlando. I saw another great emergence landing a of a FedEx emergency landing a few days ago
We try hard....
@@Flies2FLL You guys are bad ass! You know how to fly!
@@ronniebaker4549 Well I think so! The sleep rooms at the hub in Memphis help. Thanx!
@@Flies2FLL I can't pilot but I love to fly. Flying for FedEx would be a great job.
Great catch, very interesting.
The angle of the free-hanging gear doors looks to be affected by airflow deflection from the thrust reversers. They swing back upward temporarily as reverse spools up.
Very good footage. Glad it turned out OK.
Great catch! Glad everybody is okay! Liked and subscribed!
Beautiful aircraft
Good video.... although the fire response is good you would think they would know a bit about the aircraft and the issue it had....
and that there's no passengers on a FedEx airplane
Yes agree....
its all procedure. they train the same way over and over so they don't miss anything. Also for investigation purposes later if needbe.
You videos are absolutely amazing bud :)
Sweet catch! Those A300's are getting old :P
how long would be the delay between handling the apron and getting into position say at the cargo terminal? Did the local Fed Ex operations manager need to be informed of a long delay?
N689FE was only delivered in 2007 tho!
@@copilot8 delivered new or used?
@@MuhamadZahin Brand new, check it out! www.airfleets.net/ficheapp/plane-a300-875.htm
That was well done!!
such clear video
Good one buddy as always!
Nice catch!
This is crazy! I'd love to see this on Mayday some day!
I can think of many other occurrences that should make it on Mayday before this even gets considered ;)
lol can you be on mayday if there wasn't even a mayday call
True, it would be an awfully boring episode
Wow! Quite the rare event.
Whoa! You're lucky you saw this.
Nice catch! Liked
They used the newer runway
Shame gear pins were not installed prior to tow.
If you know what to look for you will see that the gear pis were installed.
Passengers?!? Apparently the big Fedex painted on the side and lack of any windows didn't clue that firefighter in 😂
Rusty S Occasionally Employee’s will be passengers on planes.
LOL Yeah, sometimes employees will hitch a ride. And i think that its standard protocol to check if theres passengers so they know for check lists and for the protocall ETC.
There are provisions for up to 8 additional people on board in addition to the 2 man crew so, passengers? YES could be
@@nickwoodall4562 Agreed. Cargo aircraft have pax capabilities. They just have to be listed on the manifest in case of emergencies.
