Fauna's ability to interpret lore and formulate her own theories based on real life science its astounding. (Like she literally did her own sun homework?! ) But its hilarious by how counter-balanced that skill is with her poor aptitude for simple exploration
Combined with the sheer amount of luck she has in some cases, like stumbling on the Hearthian and the escape pod on Dark Bramble without encountering a SINGLE anglerfish.
I'm waiting for her to just be like "whoa, there's a station so close to the sun? I'm gonna land on it and check it out", and then she does it first time flawlessly and doesn't even comment on how impressive and amazing it was.
There's really only 2 things holding Fauna back at the moment: 1) What the flight controls actually *are* and what her brain *wants them to be* are definitely not matching up. The fact that everything is more-or-less actually orbiting around everything else with relevant gravity and physics is really throwing her for a loop when piloting her ship (with apparent motion sickness as a result definitely not helping). 2) Not being able to stay focused on investigating one area at a time is causing her to fragment her own thoughts too much (with flight control problems being partial responsible for this, because she keeps ending up looking at or landing in places she didn't intend to go). It's making her run out of time before she can fully explore the areas she does decide to investigate, which makes it hard to remember exactly what she has and hasn't seen in each area she's explored. It's been super fun watching her theorizing and figuring everything out, though. Science-nerd-Fauna is an absolute treat. ^_^
One other issue is that she picks a place to explore, flies there (or gets distracted and flies to another one ), and then abandons her ship instead of using it as a mobile base to keep her oxygen and fuel topped off. She keeps asphyxiating with time to spare in the loop
It's profoundly frustrating to watch someone who isn't actively being distracted by chat be so distracted by her own thoughts and one-sided interaction with theoretical chat instead of just be present in the game.
I'd add a third, which I think is that she feels like she's in a hurry due to the time limit and that's why doesn't slow down, stop and look at things with care, like the lowering sand which would be evident with just one "stop and look at it going down" that she has not done even once. She's playing restlessly and "in a hurry". I guess "streamerbrain" while recording this is also a factor, wanting to keep things moving all the time.. But it's a bit frustrating not being able to tell her to just slow down and investigate thoroughly. It will take so much longer if she glances at a tower partially uncovered, then goes to glance another tower, then the third etc. instead of waiting for the sand to lower on one and making the right calls for the next loop etc. Though, I realize I'm hopelessly late to even watch this and comment this on a video that was pre-recorded to begin with :D
She constantly comes SOOO close to figuring something out (sometimes by pure accident) to suddenly go "squirrel?!" and run off somewhere else. It's positively delightful.
On today's episode of Fauna Plays Outer Wilds, Fauna continues her fight against caves and sands and is once again bested by them She did discover the Quantum Moon, which she doesn't seem to be too impressed by but I wonder if Past Fauna's opinion of that will change over time. But she now believes she saw all there is to the quantum moon when in fact she only saw clouds 🥲 But TBF, I didn't realized it either the first couple of times that what you can see are clouds and not in fact the moon's surface. The cloud texture could be better IMO
It's kinda funny (cute) how she's always talking as though she has chat with her to answer her questions. Poor past Fauna... if only she just stuck with what she says she wants to do instead of just drifting from one indecision to another. She's her own worst enemy with her hesitation, fear, and self doubt. Come on past Fauna, you gotta believe in yourself! Especially since we're not there to reassure you.
I'm not sure if this has been pointed out yet, but here's a neat little detail: If you run out of oxygen, the Hearthian (you, the player) wakes up in the next loop by gasping for air! Which is why he makes this spooky deep breath sometimes. For the other causes of death, the Hearthian wakes up with a simple gasp of surprise. Unless my memory is failing me. Edit: After looking around, someone else pointed it out in the comments of episode 4. But hey, it doesn't hurt to mention it again, since it's easy to miss that detail amidst the mind-bending lore, the quantum shenanigans, and the cute little space bean on the bottom right corner of the video.

In this episode Fauna: Breaks out the crackpot theories, reaffirms her fear of the sun and sunless caves. She visitst the poor neglected Ashen Twin and gets her ship kidnapped in a freak sand accident. The quantum moon is finally spotted, and Fauna immediately starts bullying it.

I wonder if Past Fauna will find some interesting stuff here later on.
Well, I for sure am enjoying more. I can't stand the backseating so I tend to avoid streamers. Glad I checked in for a bit. If stuck, it's much better to call up a friend you trust to provide just that little nudge you need, should it come to that.
@@gottagowork To be fair, most fanbases in Hololive (EN) are pretty good sport about backseating, especially tighter ones which were trained directly (some talents even have "backseating alarms" and "spoiler elevators"). Bigger games like Hollow Knight and Outer Wilds do tend to attract more random gamers though, and they will slip through the cracks and "help" no matter what, so a let's play may be the only way there.

Not the typical beach filler episode I'm accustom to tbh.. Usually it fun in the sand not suffocation lol! Still an entertaining watch and we still learned a bit more so there are still positives lol! Thanks for another fun episode Fauna! Looking forward to the next one!
i love this nerd so much and I could listen to her brain cookin' all day
she cooks so hard that it stops her from just playing the game and actually finding all the info she's been theorizing about
nothing beats a daily upload from my favourite lets player
So this episode was about Past Fauna talking about physics and theories. This Kirin is really going places(Especially another boiling trip to the Sun pretty early on.) I'm sure she knows what her objectives are... by getting totally distracted by other things. But it's been another fun episode! Thanks for the episode Fauna!
We found the quantum moon LETS GOOOO
But she now believes she saw all there is to the quantum moon when in fact she only saw clouds 🥲 But TBF, I didn't realized it either the first couple of times that what you can see are clouds and not in fact the moon's surface. The cloud texture could be better IMO
Thank you for another range of gasps Fauna. Truly a symphony of waking.
I love listening to you talk about your theories! Thank you for episode seven!
14:52 I can't believe she said this, I'm literally crying and shaking.
In this episode, Fauna get's lost in the caves....she also finds the Quantum Moon, but didn't figure out how to land on it 🤣
lol I feel as if Fauna does not innately map things in her mind as she goes
Fauna - focuses scanner on quantum signal
Also Fauna - heads in completely different direction "is it in here?"
For me.

Oxygenless Fauna voice

That is quantum museum!
Been loving Faunas theorizing of this game, it's going to get even better when she learns a bit more. Also happy that she found the Quantum moon..
(*Screaming internally*)
Fauna drives space ships like Frank Debin drives cars.
quantum moon doesn't have room service: 2/5 never again
Man I love Fauna going over her notes about the game just to voice her thoughts about quantum mechanics.
Omg, love the theories in the beginning!
Fauna physics theory! What a lovely start
space is so comfy
She had some thoughts! Promising start to the episode.
Fauna is experiencing Signalis, looking towards the ending just whispering “I made a promise.” And pushing on ahead.
Love these crackpot kirin theories, and the fact Fauna's so addicted to this she was making notes in between recording sessions. Infectious enthusiasm as usual
Lots of quantum fun today! Thanks for the episode Fauna, we're 1/3rd of the way there!
FAUNA is Torturing us with WHS at this point . Nice to see episodes that don't always go as planned. Loved that I
This is an unedited series
Fauna and her ship getting away from her. Name a more iconic duo .
Love how the titles give a nice hint of what's to come. Feels like this one is going to be full of panic
After 7 whole episodes the quantum moon was finally perceived. Amazing
Thanks for keeping me company on my walk today!
When you're on a museum date and your date goes on a passionate quantum theorycrafting session while the music swells. :chefkiss: That's the one.
Physics Fauna is my kamioshi now and forever.
fauna the issue is that its observable verse unobservable. its not if someone actually looks at it, its if a photon hits it and changes its state (a photon has to hit it for us to see it) there's no change if photos are hitting it in regard to how we observe it.
that's true, but in the game there's no meaningful difference
It doesn’t even need to be a photon it can be any kind of interaction with something else
@th3l05t-kfpreactoroperator5
This is true; if anything touches anything, that anything moves.
FWIW the game does sort of just go with the pop culture understanding of quantum physics, so for the purposes of understanding the story she's ok.
@@ahcangela8549 the pop culture understanding is so much more fun haha...i was bummed when i learned how it actually worked :P
Thank you another great Outer Wilds episode Fauna
I love theory crafting Fauna
quantum mechanics are great
i love the quantum tunnelling effect and the observer effect, so weird the fact of that some little guys are not in a defined position until you interact with those guys
also the Heisenberg's indeterminacy principle, so weird that even interacting with the particle we cant be absolutely precise of all the properties of certain particle
The sun ptsd is real Also I love when you talk about physics Thank you for the episode
Noted, never take Fauna spelunking and stay away from sand, it might cause flashbacks. Thanks for the vid Fauna.
Post-premiere:
What did we learn this episode?
-Don't mess with cactuses Another Fauna trauma for the list
-Fauna is a huge nerd over Quantum mechanics
I wonder what we'll find at Giant's Deep in the next episode?
Aw these thumbnails are getting cuter, Moonia did such a good job - adorable space kalimba kirin
*White Hole Station ignored counter:*
1006.5 (No increase this episode, but special mention must be made that 'the White Hole Station has been destroyed', apparently.)
(Fauna technically encountered the White Hole 8 times, but one of those times I counted half because she didn't fall through the black hole, she just found the White Hole with her ship. And then there was that _one_ time that I count as 1000.)
silly faunya i love the theorizing, so many interesting thoughts it hurts to see her not explore things thoroughly but i know she'll get there, there's still 14 episodes to go :D
I love this Kirin so much but its killing me that I can't tell her that she can jump and use her lift jets without using her booster jets! XD
Fauna Is Out Of This World!
The titles are very NL isaac coded
In this episode Fauna: Breaks out the crackpot theories, reaffirms her fear of the sun and sunless caves. She visitst the poor neglected Ashen Twin and gets her ship kidnapped in a freak sand accident. The quantum moon is finally spotted, and Fauna immediately starts bullying it.
We were left at a cliffhanger
Hoping Past Fauna goes to statue island next to find out some tasty lore
You mean the island where she read that there is a workshop inside and then left? xD
@@Blex_040 Exactly, that one lol
Physics nerd fauna my beloved
I love the fact that this episode starts off with Fauna explaining her theories for 8-10 mins straight and gets interrupted by accidently auto piloting into the sun.Another fun episode mainly just figuring out what the deal is with Ash Twin and Sunless City... I wonder if Past Fauna will find some interesting stuff here later on.
Fauna, sand and some twin planets. Name a better way to spend an hour!
I'm glad to keep going to other planets and researching! Also playing Kalimba, it's a calming melody
Even more intense cave episode than the cave episode
Just a quantum Kirin in a quantum world
I like how everyone sings Black Hole Sun when they see Black Hole Forge.
GoodMorning Fauna ❤
50:38 Fauna ending up in the sunless city... late... again because she didn't wanna go there... again
She keeps having nice ideas. I think she's enjoying this more than if she had a bunch of backseating in chat.
The vanilla experience is what is making the series all the more wonderful for me! As much as you try to avoid spoilers and as tame as chat tries to be, there's always the very subliminal 'nudge' that will give hints, even if just from the mood of chat about poking a certain direction too long or something. She's genuinely exploring and brainstorming and it's lovely
@@Lishtenbird Hololive? Trained? Talents? I have no idea what any of that even means, I just saw Outer Wilds and obviously clicked 😆I did notice some other recommendation labeled "hololive something". So now I have to look it up.
But yeah, there are streamers out there with moderators to take out backseating and spoilers as well as banning obnoxious viewers, but not that many. Streamers also get too distracted with chat and have loud appalling noises going off constantly imo. I.e. Gopher, excellent RPG let's player, but I can't stand the Live stuff.
For sure. Outer wilds is THE game that should not be backseated.
Fauna standing around on teleport platforms always makes me nervous. With her luck they'd activate
Fauna looks really good with a beauty spot
Fauna hitted us with a filler episode (with a lot of Sand). It is still fun to see you cluelessly flying and and walk around. Cannot wait to see what will be unfold in the next episode .
I can't believe my kamioshi swore on stream
I don't think I'll ever recover from this... without watching the rest of the series as it comes out
Omg I was crossing my fingers for Fauna to walk into a warp accidentally.
Great episode as usual!
