Yes but the white hole station itself isn't very well lit. There's the old line from Valve talking about the how one lesson they gained in playtesting Half-Life was the value of putting lights on places you want to guide the player to go & the sun being behind the white hole station doesn't immediately "light" the station itself. It kinda just looks like a large piece of debris from Brittle Hollow that already fell through. 😂 Love Outer Wilds but yeah that White Hole station could benefit from at least a few lights on it to better indicate it's "a place to go"
@@Secret_Takodachi The player will always be spawned in front of it then launched at it, its silhouette really isn't like any of the debris. Some players always miss it because their first reaction is to frantically spaz around the moment they go through. Fauna is just the type of player to -> on the keyboard at all times and burns steps due to constant urgency as if in an FPS.
Fun fact for Future Fauna: The noise you make when you wake up from a loop is dependent on how you die. So the reason your poor Hearthian makes a horrific gasping sound is because you keep mercilessly suffocating them over and over!
I am still amazed by the fact that she made it all the way to the escape pod in Dark Bramble without encountering a single Angler Fish. Just pure gaming
Finding the Nomai in Bramble looked like some carefully designed environmental storytelling and our dear Kirin comes in stomping everywhere trying to setup a scout launcher This episode was kind of full of some wacky and absurd deaths in space
I love that somehow Fauna's worst moments are immediately followed up by her best. It's like a Fauna Gaming Law of Equivalent Exchange. For every Not Gaming Moment there shall be an equal but opposite Gaming Moment.
Spoiler It's the time she gets recalled by the ATP before getting killed by the supernova. After she enters the ATP core I will change it to "Recalled by ATP".
We didn't get to see it well, but you know the dead Nomai Fauna casually punted away with her spacecraft? Some of them are hugging each other. That would have been quite sad if our brave Kirin didn't trouble their peace like so. Let us be grateful towards the anglerfish for punishing her for her misdeeds.
I've seen people miss the White Hole Station before, despite it literally being the first thing you're forced to look at after jumping through the black hole.... I've not seen anyone miss it 4(?) times, after knowing it exists though. Good job Fauna xD And oof she really just rammed straight into those nomai corpses at the end there ;-; On the flipside, I don't think I've seen anyone get feldspar and escape pod 3 before solving any other puzzle - it's impressive! Always a fun game to watch someone play through!
There's a set of people who for some reason every time they exit the white hole they spin around instead of looking in front of them. The white hole station is set directly in front of you between you and the sun, it's impossible to miss it.. unless you spin around to stare at the white hole. Fauna does this, and also leaves her acceleration going while doing so which completely screws up her ability to find it. It'd be neat to see this with an eye tracker so you can figure out how she doesnt see things.
It's impressive that she keeps missing the simplest things while also managing to ace the hard stuff like it's nothing. I love how the open-ended nature of this game combined with its weird mechanics means every playthrough is super unique, as everyone figures things out in a different order. Hopefully she will remember that the triggers on her controller exist soon so she isn't as frustrated when navigating with the ship and jetpack.
It's just she thinks that White Hole Station should be "near" the white hole, so she turn around to look around the white hole and don't perceive the station in front of her because it seems "far". At least that how I missed it fist times around
i think the reason it's so common to spin around when you go through the black hole is that the light distortion around the white hole makes it feel like you're moving backwards, so the instinct is to turn around to see where you're heading
Managed to forget her suit AND lose her ship on timberhearth in the most comedic way possible Missed the white hole station more times then I could count (while literally staring at it) Almost reached the quantum moon but the attention span reached it's limit of 3 seconds and moved on Desecrated the nomai grave by drifting all over it with the ship Finally met anglerfishies A good episode if you ask me
As someone who has played & knows Outer Wilds, I think Fauna doing a Let's Play format was the BEST choice she could make for her playthrough. While Fauna might miss having chat there to help her understand the quirks of the controls/game mechanics, she's also not getting ANYTHING helpful to influence her choices on where she goes & when. That has made this super fascinating to watch, it's much more natural & only feels right for this "lonely space game." ❤❤❤ This Kirin is clever, she's figuring it out without us just fine. I can't wait to see how the rest of her adventure goes! ☺️👍
Same, some of these comments were absolutely out of line especially regarding the white hole station and the quantum moon. Im glad fauna avoided these backseat toxic freaks and enjoyed this game the way it was intended: blind.
I wonder when past Fauna will figure out the controller triggers are pressure sensitive. I don't think she released her death grip on them for the whole episode.
Like Khan Noonien Singh, I believe our dear kirin exhibits two-dimensional thinking. She tends not to touch the triggers when trying to make careful maneuvers, despite her vertical velocity being much of the problem.
I always learn something new with this game and i have seen A LOT of playtrhoughs, i've never seen the ship fly away without it's pilot, i have never read that kid's writing on brittle hollow and the disrespect of fauna crashing into the poor nomai was hilarios 😂😂
@@JustinLBivens yea 😂 it reminded me of me when i played, looking back i wonder why i tried to get in some places with the ship when it was obvious i needed to do it on foot
@@gonchizamora6742 I was the opposite, i remember trying to get through dark bramble for several cycles without the ship like a fool, and just overall ditching my ship when it would have been smarter to use it
I'm so glad Fauna decided to play this as a Let's Play series. It's so much fun watching her explore and theorize on her own without the chat leading her along or outright spoiling her on things. She is maybe the 5th person I've seen play through this game and somehow she seems more aimless than any other even though exploring aimlessly is a major part of the charm of this game. Can't wait for the next episode.
I think it's to get a point of reference for where she's at - looking outward you just see distant objects in space (or that you might think are distant if you don't take the time to bother looking at them lol) so you wouldn't have a good idea of what direction you're moving. The white hole kinda acts like the ground of a planet in that way.
In meager defense of missing the white hole station: if you get the idea in your head that the whole area is populated with rocky debris, it's easy to quickly dismiss the obstructed view of the sun you start with as just-- rocky debris in your way, if you don't look too close. And assuming that you do know of the existence of a "white hole station", I can understand the impulse to want to look AT the supposed white hole in question to find it. And it might even take a while to be sure you're not finding anything, because of the visual distortion around it.
Same goes with the quantum moon in the previous episode. If you dont know what to look out for, you just wont "stumble" upon it especially since it looks like a normal ass sphere amongst other wacky looking spheres.
Loving watching this playthrough. She's obviously having a lot of fun and it's always great to see her nerd out every now and then. That said, the space ship and jetpack controls clearly DO NOT work the way her brain wants them to. XD
Man, that sequence with you jumping out your ship (sans suit), leaving your ship on autopilot and watching it fly away was like something out of a cartoon - comedic timing
That moment when the ship flew off without her... perfect lol Felt like some really important discoveries were made this episode. Been having a blast trying to piece the lore together. Really looking forward to the next episode!
("I'm unsure how to be me without you" such a good line...) I love how everyone gets a rough reminder to put on the suit, although for you it was less lethal b/c you got back out of the ship on Hearth Thanks for trucking on despite your motion sickness (I was worried that earlier it would derail the whole let's play) I can't believe you crashed into the Nomai group with your ship
man at 32:48 with her understanding of quantum mechanics its just made me realize mother nature is not just of plants but the mother of the nature of everything from plants to quantum physics 🤯, also obligatory endeering neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerddddd
After this episode I'm 100% convinced that the ship is Bethany 2 and that Fauna doesn't have a license for it Seeing Fauna so excited about learning things and making theories about the game makes super happy and excited for her to learn more stuff 8:15 and there she goes, to the black hole... again 14:00 at least you forgot your suit on your own planet, otherwise... you know. Oh, and there it goes the ship too... The Eye of the Universe is such an interesting concept that is not surprise the Nomai were interested in it so much and Brittle Hollow is easily my favorite planet just because of how much lore there is in it about the Nomai, no wonder Riebeck wanted to go there to learn more about them 28:10 black hole it is again It's impressive how Fauna went to Dark Bramble again, didn't encounter any anglerfish again and just flew into a graveyard with her ship like nothing and destroyed a sad moment in the process. Not what I was expecting at all for that part of the game tbh
You simultaneously gaming and not gaming this episode was an absolute roller coaster of emotions lol! Thanks for another entertaining Episode Fauna! Can't wait for the next one!!
faunas outer wilds lets play will go down as one of the best (because funniest & nerdiest & cutest) lets plays in history (2023, we don't have a lot of lets plays anymore)
It's so much fun watching her gain new tidbits of info and start theorizing with it, then finding more that either confirms or denies whatever she's thinking. The theories keep evolving!
the only problem of having played the game already is screaming at the monitor as Past Fauna zooms past things but that's why the LP format is so good. Wonderful show so far, fish and autopilot and all
It's like after leaving the surface of a planet, she forgets the ship as vertical thrust. And that she can roll (with or without ship) - that would help a lot with the dizziness.
Always great seeing Outer Wilds let Fauna bring out her theories and it's always interesting seeing how people choose to explore the universe in varying orders. Another great episode!
I find it so funny how the gameplay fluctuates constantly between pro gamer moves and help I'm stuck in moon crater I'm enjoying the series too much and can't wait another day to see more
Game devs: *puts an obvious station right in front of the sun so you can see it.* Fauna: *goes through black hole* "Now where's the white hole station?"
It’s nice to that your experience with Brittle Hollow went similarly to mine, a lot of trips through the black hole, but getting pieces new pieces of info each time Thank you for episode 4!
Another banger episode! (i will say that every episode) Its been so nice to watch you unravel the mystery, you definitely caught on to a lot more then I expected and made it all the way to escape pod 3! I think that was one of the last places I explored, just goes to show how many different ways people can play this wonderful game. Can't wait for tomorrows episode!
Past Fauna crafts theories so fast, I'm worried she's gonna run out of breath! Outer Wilds players have come up with some pretty nifty things you can do with your ship, but I've never seen an autonomous planetary escape manuever like that before... And Past Fauna shouldn't bee too concerned, I think most people's explorations of Brittle Hollow go like yours did in this episode. Maybe it's time to put on the "Wishin' I was Fishin'" hat again... PS. It might just be because of the way Outer Wilds is, but I'm really enjoying this Let's Play format so far! Even though you didn't edit them, the shorter format makes them easy viewing and I'm always left wondering what direction you're going to take next time! And you're just as fun to watch and as funny without a chat, while you may take some of our jokes regularly, you can definitely run your own show solo!
Six episodes of learning to fly the ship. 8 episodes of uncovering the mysteries. Then seven more episodes of learning to fly the ship through the Dark Bramble.
The sensory prodrome of anusitis is the only comparison I can make to the experience my CNS goes through while witnessing repeat jittery jetpack-or-ship-thruster back-and-forth-ing. The primordial monkey in my bones is screaming and pissing and crying rn.
Sheesh episode 4 is lore crazy, even past Fauna is cooking up with her theory I already know that Future Fauna is gonna go insane theory when she comes back can't wait for episode 5!
I really love this LP series and especially... that it is a LP without chat's interference. Makes you appreciate not only the game in another light, but also Fauna herself! She's good at herding and responding to/including chat, but also very fun bouncing off on her own and well, just being herself!! A true gift of nature o7 Thanks for the series, much enjoyed!
Thanks for the stream, Fauna! Man, the exploration in Outer Wilds is so great. Some runs you get to read all the writings of a post-crash makeshift village, and other runs you watch your ship autopilot to another planet without you Findings and foibles aside, I'm just happy to see you be invested in the mystery! See ya tomorrow
something that will be missed out on in future viewings of this series is the premiere countdown before the actual video. it's the sci fi premiere countdown, and it features these hard cuts of whirling, mechanical parts and machines coming to life or setting into place followed by a music score that ramps up with every passing second until the drop at 00... Then we are greeted by a pillowy soft "konfauna~" and it's so dang funny.
It's so funny to watch fauna stumble and bumble her way to get to the hard parts but the completely tunnel visions on the white hole station! I just know that in about 5 episodes our kirin will be flying like a real pro!
Fauna's glee at like, Einsteinian theory is fantastic. I don't watch a lot of her work outside of collabs, but I didn't expect that to be an interest of well, anyone.
Not specific to Fauna at all, but I've watched dozens of playthroughs of this game and I always love how everyone collectively executes landings by just ramming their face into the planet at full speed. She'll get her space legs though, I believe! Loving this series though, such a treat to watch Fauna playing my favourite game
Seeing you get distracted by everything reminds me of when I played, everything seems so exciting to explore and it was really hard to choose Excited to see what happens next
That was some comedy gold seeing your ship fly off without you It's actually impressive how many times you encounter the quantum moon, look away, and don't even notice it's gone afterwards The most impressive though is your relatively peaceful treks through dark bramble. What even is your luck
Ship really just went "aight, later!" I love it when you go full speed talking about a theory or a nerdy topic. I like listening to passionate people Thanks for this new episode, Fauna! Catch ya in Episode 5!
I had never thought about the Nomai civilization mastering time travel, but now I'm hooked on the idea. A side tangent, but one thing I really like about Let's Plays is seeing the differences between what I notice as a viewer and what you notice as the streamer. I keep wondering when you'll investigate that sun-backed structure right after you go through the black hole, but you're able to pick up on the lore much faster than I. This is a great series, thanks for recording these!
I am loving this series like you wouldn't believe, but watching Fauna fly around is making me sad😂. Hopefully future past/past future fauna can get a better hang on the roll mechanic and matching Velocity.
This was a wild episode today Fauna Thanks tho, this LP pushed me to finish the game finally and I'm glad I did! Can't wait to see how you go about it in the next 17 episodes!
I really love how excited Fauna gets about time travel and making theories Fauna talking about quantum mechanics is always really interesting too I'm really enjoying Fauna bumbling about without chat assistance
Past Fauna is sufficient to sustain me... Past Fauna is sufficient to sustain me... Past Fauna is sufficient to sustain me... Past Fauna is sufficient to sustain me... Past Fauna is sufficient to sustain me...
I wish fauna was able to experience the grave better. Its a cool moment but i can tell she didnt really care due to having issues flying. Im hoping future fauna is able to enjoy these scenes to their fullest.
Post-premiere: First time me seeing someone have their own ship fly off without them Loving all the theorycrafting you cook up and you applying you're quantum knowledge to it Also so fun to see you get lost in the sauce so much
I'm amazed how past Fauna is such an expert at navigating Dark Bramble. She picked up the signal and found her target without any issue on the first try. She may still have issues with Brittle Hollow but I'm confident she will master all planets in a few episodes.
Well, it didn't take long for the forgetting of the suit. At least there was oxygen! I'm more impressed with leaving the ship on autopilot and losing it that way.
Poor Fauna has me really questioning her skills Missed the white hole station covering the sun multiple times, battered her ship like a go-kart, and refuses to leave her ship to shoot her scout If she learns how to thrust up and down or rotate I'm sure she won't have to worry about motion sickness so much. I must say, seeing her ship autopilot away was truly comedy gold. Moments like that are very Fauna and make the series very much worth watching. I'm sure she'll figure stuff out eventually. You're doing great on exploration! Thanks for the entertaining watch, as always.
Silly Past Fauna aced Quantum Physics but failed Newtonian Physics Go easy on those thrusters in space haha those poor Nomai... The stuck ship on autopilot flying off was so funny
i'm impressed at how she manages to elegantly avoid the anglerfish but not see the space station placed directly in front of her
Yeah that's definitely afeat considering how it is luterally in front of the sun and the first thing you see when coming out.

This goes without saying but she's just as funny in these videos, which is impressive.
Past Fauna: I want to see the anglerfish
Past Fauna 10 minutes later: Maybe that was a bad idea
Thanks for part 4 Fauna!
Maybe Fauna is such a Gamer with Dark bramble because its just a cosmic horror Sapling
adorable past kirin trying to violate causality.
Six episodes of learning to fly the ship. 8 episodes of uncovering the mysteries. Then seven more episodes of learning to fly the ship through the Dark Bramble.
First premiere I caught on time Thank you for the fun and interesting episode past Fauna
Superman 64 reference further proves Fauna is my oshi.
Man I Love FAUNA . Such a good episode. I love when FAUNA needs out and gives us her theories. Honestly my favorite part
Very curious to see the progression for this series!
Well, day 4 with Past Fauna was certainly filled with lore and so on. Thanks for the day 4 Outer Wilds video, Fauna.
Thank you for putting all the extra effort into recording this let’s play for us. Perfect way to explore this mystery! 💚
1:03
Fauna talking excitedly about time travel is so cute!
51:49
Past fauna gradually noticed that this is not a legitimate route of exploration
Man I Love Fauna! Her little reactions are almost as adorable as her science knowledge.
Past Fauna got real meta at the end 😆💚
something that will be missed out on in future viewings of this series is the premiere countdown before the actual video.
it's the sci fi premiere countdown, and it features these hard cuts of whirling, mechanical parts and machines coming to life or setting into place followed by a music score that ramps up with every passing second until the drop at 00... Then we are greeted by a pillowy soft "konfauna~" and it's so dang funny.
Saw that for the first time today with episode five. It's such a funny transition.
@@Blakbox92 the complete tonal shift XD
It's so funny to watch fauna stumble and bumble her way to get to the hard parts but the completely tunnel visions on the white hole station! I just know that in about 5 episodes our kirin will be flying like a real pro!
Fauna's glee at like, Einsteinian theory is fantastic. I don't watch a lot of her work outside of collabs, but I didn't expect that to be an interest of well, anyone.
Nice, great episode. Been enjoying this a lot! Hope your break is going well!
This is simultaneously the most frustrating playthrough I've ever seen and one of the best. She always figures it out somehow. Somehow.
That was some comedy gold seeing your ship fly off without you It's actually impressive how many times you encounter the quantum moon, look away, and don't even notice it's gone afterwards The most impressive though is your relatively peaceful treks through dark bramble. What even is your luck
Ship really just went "aight, later!"
I love it when you go full speed talking about a theory or a nerdy topic. I like listening to passionate people
Thanks for this new episode, Fauna!
I love how I can backseat this series without much guilt.
I hope Fuana rewatches some of this and sees just how many times she sees the quantum moon right in her view lol
Love how you wake up gasping every time It's a lot of fun to watch this LP! Looking forward to more Kirin sidetracking (or exploring Giant's Deep).
The mysteries grow deeper, I love it! Wonderful to still have some Fauna content on my birthday.
HBD again, Viv!
omfg i just cant watch how she struggles so much
Past Fauna is sufficient to sustain me...
Past Fauna is sufficient to sustain me...
Past Fauna is sufficient to sustain me...
Past Fauna is sufficient to sustain me...
Past Fauna is sufficient to sustain me...
Rapidly becoming the best part of my day - thank you past Fauna!
I wish fauna was able to experience the grave better. Its a cool moment but i can tell she didnt really care due to having issues flying. Im hoping future fauna is able to enjoy these scenes to their fullest.
What an unfortunate series of events... at least Fauna get to experience the game how she wanted. But man, this episode is something else.
Post-premiere:
First time me seeing someone have their own ship fly off without them
Loving all the theorycrafting you cook up and you applying you're quantum knowledge to it
Also so fun to see you get lost in the sauce so much
I'm amazed how past Fauna is such an expert at navigating Dark Bramble. She picked up the signal and found her target without any issue on the first try.
She may still have issues with Brittle Hollow but I'm confident she will master all planets in a few episodes.
thank you for doing these streams for us
Well, it didn't take long for the forgetting of the suit. At least there was oxygen! I'm more impressed with leaving the ship on autopilot and losing it that way.
11:40 "I'm not sure I learned anything"
Such a productive episode!
A bunch of lore today at Brittle Hollow and Dark Bramble, a little corpse desecration, and got to meet the Anglerfish. Another fun Fauna OW stream.
I love how when Fauna forgot the suit it was in Timber Hearth and it still killed her 🤣
Silly Past Fauna aced Quantum Physics but failed Newtonian Physics Go easy on those thrusters in space haha those poor Nomai...
The stuck ship on autopilot flying off was so funny
So glad to see Fauna enjoying the game! Hope past fauna finds much confusion and knowledge along her journey!
Thanks for stream
Remind me not to fly with Air Fauna
Fauna was drawn to the vacuum of space
