Thanks Pablo for bringing such exciting collaborations into view- I loved when you almost spit your coffee out! (2:50) Sending gratitude and love to you all -
Been having major existential problems as a cellist lately. Gonna be pursuing it as my college major soon enough and I’ve been doubting how I practice, how much, my sound, technique, etc. The show always is fun to but this episode was such a big help. Young kings out here. Thank you gents!
Also, great video. You are all incredible. Thank you, Pablo, for making these videos. I feel like you talk about things people usually don't talk about and people get this idea that these great musicians are just born and they don't think that yes, they (you :D) are talented but you also put quite a bit of time into practicing, into immersing completely with your mind and body into it. In the end it all comes down to great dedication and hard, persistant work and of course passion/love for what you're doing because without it I don't think you can get very far.
Great video! Please have Santiago come on more! Could you please talk about trills next time? I find it hard to get them as fast as I'd like, especially in high positions.
Joer estáis haciendo una revolución con este tipo de vídeos y los estudiantes os vamos a estar agradecidos para siempre, no sé sois 100% conscientes.... Esperando la segunda parte como si fuera GOT!
Awesome, guys! Thanks for this Pablo, Kian, & Santiago. Loved the insight on Legato and the insight on warm-ups. And loved the philosophical takes on Competitions. Great stuff!
amazing video, i love your whole series "talking cello". i have always been so interested in the opinions of soloists like you guys. especially on practicing and all these other things, you have such interesting topics. i can´t wait to watch the next episode :) also i´m a big twoset violin fan as well :) would you consider doing more videos with these two?
Excellent video!!
Congrats Pablo!! Wonderful gumption. TALKING CELLO now is the must see to do during these quarantine. I´ll show it to my students. Thank you very much. Cheers from São Paulo, Brazil.
Thank you so much for making this series, I’ve been learning a lot from them! I was wondering if it would be ok to ask a few more questions about all of yours’ musical journeys. 1. what kind of things that discourage daily and how do you get through it 2. When you go on tour with a huge list of repertoire, how do you sustain your playing in the highest level possible? 3. How did the competitions effect your career? 4. What other things you do that help you enrich your musical development? Thank you!
Santiago already answered this question in December on CelloBello - nowhere, this book was only available for Henryk Zarzycki's students. He never published it.
I really love these discussions. It is so reassuring that even world-class cellists like the three of you struggle with certain fingerings like the scale on the a-string in the beginning of Haydn 3rd mvmt. I always thought I just wasn't good enough for that. Turns out it is actually not a good fingering that only few people seem to be able to accomplish. By the way, concerning the fingering in the 2nd mvmt, Pablo once mentioned in his video about shifting that he never shifts with the same finger, but with the next one - in this case, c(2)-d(1). Maybe that's another possibility?
Thank you very much guys ! I have some questions about bow ! Maybe you could discuss them in a next video. How much do you bend your bows ? What kind of bows do you use ? (light or heavy, circle or octogonal) And maybe, more prosaic, what are your right hand positions on the bow ?
Where do I find this scale book Santiago?! I have more time on my hands than I ever will, and would love to start working on being an absolute master is scales! Awesome video, I love listening and watching you guys discuss these topics. The competition vs performance section I thought was the most insightful for me. Thanks so much and look forward to more of your videos!
I have the D and C versions, I know where the teacher of Santiago henryk zarzycki teach today, but it's kinda far from where a I live, maybe you can contact the college. let me know your contact information if want the scales method that I have.

on 7:15 you and Kian said that you both had that injury on the wrist and I have it too but it goes and come again. I would like to ask you how you treated it. great video, as always!!
This is soooooo COOL !!! OMG Santiago, is it possible to get this technique/method book somewhere that you had to do when you were a kid? Or is the book never edited? Was it created by your former teacher Henryk Zarzycki? Thank you so much in advance for your answer!

Haha!! I love him❤️
That is the Dream team for the popper requiem 😍😍
What a great luck to have the 3 of you talking about so many interesting things about the cello in one video. Thank you very much!!
You guys should do a series where cellists(or any musicians) submit their playing and you guys offer helpful criticism.
I screamed in excitement and ran in circles (in my house of course because of quarantine)!! Its the Triumvirate of cellos!
