The only part of that truck that had 30,000 original miles was the engine oil!
Paul, the best thing I love about you and Matt. Your channels are very much about family. You’re teaching your kids valuable lessons that they’ll need in life.
First rule of lathe operations. Never leave the key in the chuck. It stays in your hand until you're finished using it.
Well, at least he didn't crash the lathe.
He is very lucky
Landon is always around the shop helping out, getting his hands dirty and showing genuine interest in all the projects, even the rescues.
When you are the eldest son, you need to pull you weight around the house. The younger siblings benefit from the ground work you lay.
"Did you learn anything in school today that you will be able to use to make money?"
He’s on the right track to bring an incredible man.
Couldn't agree more!!
@hibiki54 My brother the eldest has never really amounted to anything. About halfway through his life or more. Now he has an uncurable disease that breaks the organs down needs transplants dialysis and drugs to stay alive. He's become a rude bitter frequently unfriendly individual that's never had a real GF except for 1 for maybe couple months or so. Then there's younger sister...selfish, blames everyone else for all the problems even though they center around her. Will tell you her medical problems for hours if you let her. She's a hypochondriac. She's a whole lot more. Not all Eldest are pillars of the family.
They say a mothers love and devotion to her children is like no other...but they haven't met my siblings haha. My Mom let both live with her for a bit, for a little while both at same time. It was frequently fights arguments and complaints haha. Mom would have enough and have to leave. I'm the only normal one of the bunch haha. I tell her I'm the only one of your kids you can stand to be around for more than a few minutes. And the only one she can live with. (I let her move in with me 4 yrs ago...temporarily haha) she just smirks at me and shakes her head. I know Mom you can't say say it out loud. But you know I'm right...like always
Loved Grandma flexing! Best flex on the show!
It might be 4:30am but I think Paul drilling that steering box hole spot on with the finger guage and eyecrometer will be the most impressive thing i see all day maybe rest of the year!
I agree that was awesome
Another term is threaded rod, thread stock, threaded bar. Guess depends on where you are at the time.
Montana terms don't work in Alabama
Its a thing! Place your fingers on each side of a wall at a door opening, have someone mark it- its intuition to touch your fingertips together 😊
@@d70rock well I certainly learned something today
+1 for safety squint and safety glassed on his hat while doing it.
Hunter may not be your kid but he definitely fits in like one of the family
Hunter is family
I knew he wasn't his kid (legitimately anyway;)...But with the same last name, i honestly thought he was Paul's nephew.
Either way, Hunter is a great addition to the team.
Father n Son!
@@dgott7726 same here
Hunter needs that Sand Rail off uncle Merlin.
Currently in my last year at college studying automotive repair and maintenance in South Africa,i wish to have a whole setup like you guys, i love what you doing and I'm motivated
I've been doing this for over 40 years at my business in one way or another. Every show you have building stuff I'm commenting to myself, no no no, that won't work, I never thought of that, that actually will work, here's what I did, dang I know that hurts, right in my ear, yes they are death wheels, Grandma has a potty mouth. LOL. It is crazy how after a day of doing such I can't wait to watch somebody else do it! Thanks for the shows.
That Sean is an easy going dude. Takes it as it comes.
Enjoy your content. It’s amazing how many people care about you and all the people there. So much so they share of their knowledge. God bless you family and all your subscribers. God save this country.
GRANDMA WITH THE FLEEEEEEEEEX! I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE IT! y'all are the best youtube channel out there. I love the family!
I just friggin love how Hunter constantly gives Paul a hard time... 😂😁🤟
That's why he gets the big bucks to work there.
Thank you so much.
Fab Rat's you have the most entertaining program
To watch sense . The
First time I seen. One
Of you're Videos. I found something. I could watch over and over. You're never
Boring the way you give Machelle. Part quizzes is funny but she is getting so much better. The little pranks you do to you're mom is funny. I love to watch. Do to the stuff you work on. The bond you have with your friends. And Family. And how well you help take care of your Community. I mean this from the bottom of my Heart. You're a Blessing.
So GODBLESS YOU.
YOU'RE FAMILY AND FRIENDS. YOU ALL HAVE.
A.
HAPPY THANKS GIVING.
When you’re turning the O.D. Of a tube if you stuff a wet rag in the inside of the tube it will help stop the chatter. And when boring the I.D. Wrap the outside tight with big rubber bands. I am so glad that chuck wrench didn’t hit Shawn. In my 45 years as a machinist I saw a few people hurt badly doing same thing. Be safe. Love your videos.
G'day from down under. THAT CAT IS CHILLED AF. I like dogs, but that cat has character!
I was yelling to pull the chuck key out when I seen him reach for the lever. Wow. So lucky, man.
Me too, flinched when he turned it on.
@@mmgtl I flinch every time they use grinders, drills, and the lathe because they never wear safety glasses.
@@johnmorris7960 and I know they Have some as I sent a full Box a while back.. Must be saving them for after eye surgery from flying Debris
@stonefisk I'm a metal mold maker for Ford. The chuck keys have that stupid spring collar makes them pop out. And we have collared style jaws on new lathes.
So, I wasn't the only one yelling at Sean.
I love how Hunter ask many questions!! Many of us don’t know as much as Paul.
Working AND having a good time = nothing better than that
Congratulations your experience showed that practice makes perfect. You got a big Atta boy!
Great work Team FABRATS 👏, your ability and figuring out the angle for the dangle is amazing!!!
To drill holes through a frame, make a template from a piece of 1/4" plate for hole spacing. Use a long 1/4" drill bit all the way through the frame. Next remove the template and remove the 1/4" drill bit from your hole saw and replace it with a piece of 1/4" round stock long enough to reach through the frame. It will guide you through the second cut. Cut slow and keep it cool. Back the saw up to the first cut hole to line up the drill every ten revolutions or so. Takes some time but you will get a perfect hole all the way through the frame. You may need to extend the hole saw shaft or find a long body hole saw. hope this helps you in the future. Great job hitting it so closely.
Outstanding Fabrication on the frame relief a day steering
Have a Great Day 👍
Well , Hunter is not a blood child , but he is your work kiddo 😊😊🎉🎉
Never ever ever leave the chuck key in a lathe chuck. Did that once when I was a young machinist and the owner of the shop schooled me. Really like Sean as part of the team. So glad he didn't get hurt.
I think it would have been a bit more impressive if Paul hadn't expressed so much amazement at hitting his mark. But that's okay because Paul is Authentic and we love him for being himself.
As an old turner , I am yelling at the screen “remove the chuck key “ and put some protective eye wear on ! I want you guys around for years to come , all intact 😊👍
Adelaide Australia watching -- -- -- "And Loving It" 😃😃😃
I am so happy for jace getting to have a kids dream truck to drive! It'll be sweet to see how that truck handles the Dusie Ersham trail
Teflon tape is not meant for stopping leaks, it's intended use is to help "lubricant," so pipe fittings screw together easier. Teflon is a lubricant of sorts. But yes, it does help stop leaks as well.
Shaun's a keeper, as long as he doesn't kill himself using the lathe.
I've always been able to alline holes with my finger as Paul does as long as the finger goes where the eyes look. The same reason I could shoot bowling pins from the hip from 6feet out to 25 yards. Where the eyes look the fingers point.
Very interesting 🤔 Content guys 😁 thanks for sharing 😊. Till next time 😊.
Once again SAFETY GLASSES! “Right between my eyeballs”. But that’s some good hard work fellers.
Always love the content! today Pauls eyecrometer was right on the spot! Hunter is a great person for the job he does. good sense of humor and stays positive 24-7
He must of had it calibrated lately. I didn’t see a sticker verifying it, though.
You could have also done a cardboard aided design of the steering box bolt pattern and transferred it to the frame. Nice work as always though. Something satisfying about fabrication
Steering done ✔️ on to the next thing . Thanks for sharing
I just met y’all in Savannah Tn. I have to say again it was a real honor meeting y’all. Only thing is I for got to get a picture. Much love and prayers for y’all’s Long trip back.
That Sean fits like hand in glove. Always getting it done with a reserved smile. Further, hi grandma. Much respect.
My mind was just blown! I thought Hunter was your kid! Was at the wrecker games and he fits in like family! Well played Sir!
Thanks for explaining Hunter's relationship with you because I was confused. FYI I have a grandson and nephew both named Hunter!!✌️🇺🇲
Aw man... the last name bit had me get hot coffee through my nose
I met the owner of Behemoth at Smokey Mtn Jeep Invasion, very nice people. The UK Blue is also awesome!
Watching you guys makes me want to get out and do some fun stuff with my trucks. I miss the days when I could just hit the garage and work on stuff all day. I can't do it much anymore, but I can sure enjoy watching you guys do it and dream about throwing a solid axle in my Chevy and getting it out in the dirt. Loving the rollback, I'd love to get a chance to come out that way and see it in person one day. Heck, truth be told, I'd have enough fun just checking out the stuff in your boneyard. Keep having fun and keeping it real, you guys have a great channel.👍
People come from all around the world to come see you, I have a hard time waking up and driving 30 seconds up the road to come see you! 😂😂😂
Shawn...
Lube that sreaming sound.
Dude.. Eye protection !!!!
The chemistry between Paul, Shawn+Hunter is excellent. Really entertaining. Now, if I could get these knot heads I work with to imitate you guys I'd be all set
I’ll be stopping by next summer coming from Wisconsin to see the Fab Rats family 🤘
Paul, why don't you just use a C-clamp to mark the other side of the frame? The threaded shaft gives you a way to visualize the angle, and you know the anvils come together when the clamp is closed... right?
damn, good point. adding that to the ol mental toolbox
I was thinking that too.
That's a good Idea.
LMAO @ the chuck key!! Next Monday the management team wants me to teach the lead of our grinding dept. how to use the engine lathe they have. Mainly so I don't have to make all their tooling. They allotted me 15 min!!! LOL!! The 1st thing I thought when I say that chuck key was, I need to make sure he knows never to leave that in!! Then you guys did it right before my eyes!! AWESOME!!
Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦
24:19 I sat thinking he's going to chuck that key.
As a retired lab tech/instructor of machining I had quite a few welding students come through my machine skills classes they were used to as Paul says using their eyecrometer so I'd let them because I also used it at times.
Paul has the”EyeCrometer” Working Today! 😉👍
Great video guys.....hunter really swingin that cam excellent !... steering bix dun deal !!.... Awsome explanations while working Paul.....thanks for sharing this with all of us !!
Here comes the sun.
OK, watched the video. As an old machinist Sean leaving that key in the chuck was making me nervous. And yep, he did it. Lucky to not have a new hole in his skull.
The tension in the air was so thick I cut it with a butter knife. 😐
I bet he doesn't do it again. ;)
Agree 100 percent scared me to death and they just laughed don’t realize how close they came to hurting someone
That scared the 💩 out of me…
When Paul has the welder out, I'm telling my screen finish welding the drag link! Lol
10:22 BOOM!!! :) AND?? That just saved SOOO MUCH TIME!!! I could have easy spent 15 minutes measuring and drawing lines and scribe-ing!!! :) and t's would not have been as good :)
Oh wow! The chuck key thing had me screaming!!!!!! He got lucky. I'm smiling the whole way. This channel is nothing but entertaining.
Shawn needs a spring loaded chuck handle for the lathe.😮😮 😊😂
Veeerry Interesting.... Today Hunter learned AGAIN, not to question Paul's eyechromater. That was quite a job but you got it all figured out. Thanks for the video.
The Trecker needs a pair of lunch box lockers and it will be unstoppable...🤩👍✨
My grandfather was a machinist, I do not claim to be one although I do get by. That being said, one of the biggest rules in his shop (and now mine) was that your hand never left a chuck key while it was in the chuck (lathes, drill presses, everything.) Also, if you choke up on your cutting tool and work piece as much as possible the noise will go away, your cut will be more accurate and have a better finish.
You're a good father. Not many would help their kid buy the parts, let alone build it
Sean is awesome he is salt of the Earth never complains not a camera hog, not a Showboat just constantly doing his job without a complaint. You should appreciate him.
That squishy-squirtin box, of the steering kind...was downright graphic. 🤪
Never doubt Paul's micrometer👀
It will finally be finished. That has to be a relief.
Great job guys
Love the Vids on Jace's Dakota! My dad use to own a Dakota the same color, but with the bigblock, and a blown muffler, I owned a 94 with the 318 exact opposite coloring, and it was a hunk of junk, 2wd
I love that you took the time to tell your viewers who's who without being a jerk about it and I love that us viewers like you and Michelle enough to want you guys to get the proper respect.
Awesome job! The truck is done! What is next 😳 Thank you for sharing! 👌 😊
Always enjoy the crazy fun you guys have making stuff.
Eyecromiter is working real good! What fun!
Paul, you should be sitting on a recliner getting Hunter to do everything…
and have one of the kids filming, lol…😂😂😂
Then have random folks visit, sit, and watch, while shooting the poop…
❤❤❤
Thank you. Great video, fabulous entertainment. Nice rig
I was fully prepared for, "I gotta prove a point." To become famous last words. Paul, I'd rather be lucky than good any day! Seriously though, even I was astounded that you actually pulled off the eyecrometer like that. Nice work!
✌️🐸💨
6 degrees of separation, we're all in the family! Paul, your eyecrometer is next to none! It's a good day when everything goes your way! Cool video. Til next time, see you then.😊
I think everything you guys do is absolutely awesome thank you
The video's are always awesome and entertaining. Dakota is looking great, can't wait to see it out on the trail. Thank you for sharing
It's the way of the Force my Bedawan!
Gonna be a Nice Truck!! Can’t wait to see it wheelin with the rest of you guys!!! Great Job!!!
8:55 the kitty-cat washing his face in the background after his breakfast/lunch or whatever LOL!
I remember when I was in high-school metalwork class in 1962 one of the boys left the chuck key in the drill press! The teacher grabbed it off the floor where it landed and hit the kid on the head with it! Today he'd have got sued, and sacked, but the kid remembered always to take out the chuck key before starting the machine...
I love the progress you all continue to make. Life is good. Hard work has it rewards. Family. You guys are awesome.
"That's hot!"
What's with the Matt impersonation? 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for making
lad at engineering college did the chuck key thing with the lathe in reverse. The chuck came off at quite a speed shot across the workshop luckily missing everyone and went clear through the wall on the other side. was a bit spectacular to say the least
I like the wide angle shots😊
That’s pretty cool. Can’t wait to see it. Driving off road that much closer. Keep up the good work.
People haven't been paying attention! When you first hired Hunter Michelle said he had the same last name but wasn't related! Good work on the steering, How Jace can keep it on the road after you road test it!😄
It's awesome to see his truck coming along and hunter is an awesome camera man love the shots he gets. Good job hunter
Paul. Try putting a kids small bike inter tube around your lathe chuck to dampen sound.
Paul you did it again. Thats very impressive and a skilled man right there. When He knows he knows. Hunter needs to take notes on how to do it right the first time. LOL! Sorry hunter. So, Stop doubting Paul because he is Mr. Fab Rat. Keep up your great work, faith and videos From Orlando Florida.
Great job guys 😊
I never doubted your eyechrometer finger 👉👈 gauge, essentially because I’ve done it myself. It’s surprisingly accurate even to judge the thickness of something as well.
Nice job guys!! The steering box went in pretty well with some good ol' eyecrometer measurements. LOL!! The old Dodge is looking good! I"m excited to see how it does on it's first test run!
That Dakota is gonna be tough
You should have Hunter watch Dukes of Hazzard.. so he can narrate an episode like Waylon Jennings! Didn't Waylon question what was being done on the show or doupt it. Really enjoy the content and humor. It's great!
The eyedrometer for the win !!!!
Yes fab rats and Matt’s by far are my go to for recovery and fab! How many kids does Paul have ,,are they blended family ,,we are and was 5 of us? And how many Matt has,, so is hunter not Paul’s kid? Anyways love them all great families! That’s what role models should be for young men of today! Pray I get meet both you ! ❤
Paul and Michelle are the Parents of 4 kids. Landon, Jace, Gracie and Graydon. They have only been married once.
