    I've lusted over this pack for a long time, but like you said I have no real life use for it. It's funny how all the little things about a pack are so satisfying. I get you bro.

      haha, it's a tough one. Part of me thinks I'll probably offer it up for swap. I find that the best way to deal with this kinda situation.

    I'm convinced we're bag brothers from another mother. I too got a 3DAP (circa 2014 so it's more bushcraft than urban EDC). At first, I mainly got it because it was one of my grails. The problem is I loved my GR1 and my Hill People Gear Aston House Backcountry (AHBC) was supposed to be my backcountry ultra comfort load carrier. So I didn't know what I would use it for. I then found out: it's perfect for hiking and adventures (particularly Triple Aught Design Quests). Would love for you to join my TAD goon squad btw.
    Anyway, I'm one of those weirdoes who swear by the previous iteration and dislike the CL. The thing is, I much prefer the older version because of the multi-layer passthrough pockets that are perfect for passing trekking poles or other long things behind the water bottle pockets (that I never use since I use a water bladder). The CL version doesn't have these multi-layer pockets but gives you a dedicated laptop compartment.
    This is a backcountry or hiking pack, not an EDC pack unless it's military EDC I guess. So this change means folks lost more than they gained IMHO.
    I do hate how folding the waist belt (admittedly with the padded Live Wings) when stowed cannibalize the interior space, forcing you to keep them deployed if you want to fully utilize the interior space. Hate. This. So. Much.
    It's like how I hate the external slash pocket that has no independent volume on GORUCK GR1s. And GR2s. And GR3s. And Ruckers. And Bullets. There's a pattern here...
    Anyway, I enjoy your reviews because you're the opposite of Packhacker. I love the quick and efficient way PH Tom and his crew review bags. With you, I feel like I'm talking to a friend about our mutual addictions. You take your time, and make references and comparisons on screen in your videos.
    Keep it up man!
    Also, you are the only other person I've met who has packed a larger bag with a smaller bag inside, like a Russian matroyshka doll. In my case, I used my 21L Rucker as a packing cube and a GR3 as my transport bag. I needed the Rucker for an event and the GR3 was my bag garage.

      haha, very much appreciate your comment. Re: the CL vs the older version I was more complaining about how people tend to make it sound like the build quality was much better. I recently had a chance to handle one from 2015 ish and for me there's nothing in the build quality differences. In fact, in a lot of ways the newer one felt better to me especially in terms of coatings on the materials. Your complaints about the CL are completely valid, for sure and not at all related to this. I think for folks who enjoy camping or K-Camping (korean style) it's a good bag because they tend to take some tech (I know how it sounds). I also spoke to a friend who was a former Seal and he said that he much prefers the design of the CL because in reality they need their tech nowadays and as he put it "it isn't 1975 anymore"..
      So I guess it's all relative innit? I tend to just talk in my videos. A lot of people have mentioned I should script them but you know.. it's like you said. I consider them having a chat. I've always been a take it or leave it kind of guy. I have 30,000 followers on Instagram and similar on my website for photography stuff and a lot of my friends thought I was nuts to not leverage that for this and blah blah. A lot of folks who watch these videos probably have no idea I'm a photographer and that's fine. I want things to feel like you mentioned, having a chat with a friend about bags. No chance I can get my wife to talk about them with me, so.. haha.

  • @ryanmiller4890

    I have a 30L Osprey for daily and I hate it lol. Barely enough room for my lunch bag, 48oz Nalgene. I have all the pockets full and that pretty much takes up room on the inside. This 3 day pack looks like it might work better.

    • @p51mustang24
      @p51mustang24 3 месяца назад

      I fit all of that and more in my 9.8L bag. Try getting a dedicated molle Nalgene holder if the bag has molle but doesnt have water bottle pouches on the sides.
      PS - non-rigid cooler lunchbags help. Rigid ones arent meant to be packed inside another bag, they make poor use of space and cant be compressed down.

    I don’t get why people shy away from tactical bags for EDC. I want a bag that carries well, and many tactical bags do. I love the shape of that, boxy, the Urban Assault looks goofy. They are just bags not weapons.

    I just bought the very same bag. I'm setting it up for EDC, also emergency, end of rule of law sorts of scenarios.... (Been paying, perhaps, too much attention to the current political situation in the USA). So I want to be ready for whatever. So I have a high quality first aid kit, admin pouch, laptop, and there's still PLENTY of room for clothing, toys, and food. :) What were the names of some of your smaller gear bags?
    Thanks for your video!

  • @p51mustang24
    @p51mustang24 3 месяца назад

    Seems a little too big to be a true assault pack. This is the kind of bag you would drop and stash before getting into combat, unlike something smaller that you would leave on. Even the 2DAP is kinda pushing it as a true assault pack.
    But it seems like a great mini-ruck, hiking or camping bag, or a weekend travel bag. Possibly a winter EDC bag if you need to carry thick layers. Maybe even a motocycle bag that can fit a helmet / jacket / overpants.

      I just got a 3DAP and it’s a fair bit slimmer than the Rush 72.
