Baseball is so hard to be clutch in. You can’t give your best player a chance to win the game, they just have to get lucky enough to be up to bat at that moment. This is one of the reasons guys like David freese will live on forever in baseball lore. Anyone can be the best player on the field at any given time, it’s all circumstantial.

Barry Bond's playoff struggles in the 90s can't be overlooked he wasn't at his best but man that 2002 run will always be special. It made me care for this sport for 20 years despite being tortured for being a Mets fan. He could've been a DH for contender AL team before he retired since his numbers was still good in that season. I remember my dad wanted us to go and sit towards the left field for a couple of games just to be close to Barry Bonds. The 2002 SF Giants literally gave that World Series to the Angels. Of course they had to go out there and win games six and seven, but Bonds sure didn’t do anything to get his team in a position to win either elimination game that year. At that point, most MLB fans were pulling for Bonds to get a ring. With what happened with the 1990-92 Pirates, then in 2002 the Giants were on year 48-49 of their WS drought. If Barry Bonds got his emotions in check even just a little bit, especially those last 4-5 years, then his legacy would be far different. There are a lot of Pirates and Giants fans that don’t even like the guy. It’s no mystery why he didn’t get a single offer to play in the 2008 season. At that point everyone just wanted the guy to go away. Reminds me of a certain NBA superstar in 2024.

Willie Mays in the postseason career numbers, .240 BA .350 Slg as opposed to a regular season career of .300 and Slg over .550. All you ever read about May's postseason is 1954, the only World Champion team, and his amazing catch/throw. Are you going to try and make a video of Willie May's failure to perform when it mattered, the postseason?? 😂 LMFAO

The one homer he hit was cheap, too. John Smoltz had a 3-1 lead, with Bonds leading off. His sole mission was to not walk Bonds. Watch the video. He couldn't have cared less. Calmly signaled for a new ball, got 3 outs, and the save.

Obviously that’s implied in the pre-divisional era, but 3 NLDS defeats and all 3 to eventual pennant winners.

Bonds numbers are far worse than Judge, who has about 15 postseason homers. He'll never hear the end of the drop but I've never seen a world series team receive so much disrespect. Nobody care how boring and pathetic last season's series was with a under 90 win D-Back team making it.

Bonds was by NO stretch the Best Player Of The 90s. Tony Geynn was a Better player in the 90s. He was good, sure. Not the Best. I was there. I saw it. The Braves won the 92 NLCS because his noodle arm couldn’t even throw out the LITERAL slowest base runner in MLB, Sid Bream scoring from 2B.
