    Thanks for the link showing where card donations can be made! I love making cards and have lots of beautiful cards that are just sitting in my storage boxes that someone might really like to receive. 👍💕

    Amazon has someone selling straight up knock offs from spellbinders, particularly trucking through the seasons. I even reported it, but they're still there. I used to buy lots of stamp and die sets just because I liked them. Now that I'm seriously making cards (for fundraising), I've learned what's useful, versatile, and what I'll actually go to. Same with inks. So thanks for sharing this, because I was feeling really bad about spending all that money before. I guess we just have to learn. This was inspirational ❤️❤️❤️.

      It's definitely a learning process. I'm just hoping I can save others some time and money in figuring it out.

    Like you, I have full sets of Distress and Oxide inks and then most of the mini size in Altenew inks, and a few specialty inks. I find that those meet all of my needs. With the Misti, I can even do a full background if I need to. I really wanted to say that I applaud your stand on knock-off products. It can be very tempting to buy the cheap craft supplies from China, but it is essentially supporting thieves. Those designs are stolen from small American companies and use materials that can be harmful.

    Thanks for sharing your reasoning behind what you choose to no longer buy, very helpful! And I fully agree with your PSA about buying from reputable sources. Not only is the quality usually dependable, but people who design these products put a lot of thought and sweat into their creations. They deserve our support for their hard work, and I want them to be around to create more for us! That said, I am aware of two small companies that are currently closing, not sure exactly why, but they will be missed. Prices are inching up on many products, but there are also many generous sales….. I keep my wish list easily accessible!! 🧑🏼‍🎨😀🌻🍁

    I just came across your channel today and already subscribed mostly because I appreciated what you said about the knock-offs. I only purchase designed items through the major retailers and companies. The designers deserve to be paid for their talents and efforts.

    I agree with these. I have parts of different lines of inks, but I am not buying inks for the foreseeable future. I have pads, and reinkers. Unless the pad itself is going bad, I don't need more. It is hard, sometimes, not getting the new distress colors. I have the campfire one in distress, and rustic wilderness in oxide. Those are the 2 new colors I have bought in the last couple of years.
    I like your message with these videos. It is more about knowing yourself than a soap box, or deprivation.

    Agree with the sequins. I never cared for them for paperceafts because I think I associate them with clothing.

    Thanks! I totally agree on where and how to purchase stamps and dies. You showed Reverse Confetti and they are closing their shop. Not sure exactly why, but they will be missed. Off to check out more of your videos.

    I really enjoyed the video, but what got me to immediately subscribe was your statements about supporting the designers by buying genuine products. I love the variety of aesthetics out there, and you're right, if we don't support them, they won't be able afford to share their unique and wonderful design points of view. Thank you.

    Good advice, I love my Distress and Distress Oxides, and Simon Hurley inks, is overwhelming how many other beautiful inks are out there. I agree you find what meets your needs and focus on those. Also agree that a deal "too good to be true" is usually a knockoff, stealing someone else's creativity. The ones less obvious are forging designs from companies outside of United States.

    Great video and wonderful wisdom. I purchased a die once on Ebay, that was really expensive, and I found one that said without packaging. I thought that meant it was used and they didn't care for it. I learned my lesson. I know Ali Express and Wish get a bad rap because of knock offs, but there are many shops that only sell Original dies as well. So just like every seller is different on Ebay, the same can be said of Ali.
    I love ink cubes but many companies don't offer them. I buy little round plastic containers and glue a doamed foam to the lid and just buy reinkers. They are so much easier to store and work great.

      If I had to limit myself to just one range I think I would pick Distress Oxide as well. They do take a bit to dry though so I like having the small dye inks as an option for plain stamping.

      🙋🏻‍♀️ I too vow to purge… when I find a new style of crafting, be it Cricut or now I’m currently into card-making, I tend to want ALL the supplies ALL at once; I definitely need to go through it all and organize, purge and toss.

    Why did you chose Lawn Fawn as you go to brand?

    • @JessCrafts
      @JessCrafts  Год назад +1

      I had several brands of dye ink and they all worked about the same so honestly I stuck with Lawn Fawn because I had the most cubes of it already, it was widely available, and I like that the tops are the color of the inks (true with many brands). I do put labels on the bottoms of the pads though because they are not labeled.

    I am careful to not buy knockoffs as they are rip offs of an artists hard work. That raises the price for everyone.

    If you're on a tight budget but don't want to contribute to the multimillion industry of copying genuine artists, stamps and dies can often be bought for cheap second hand.

  • @Card_Crazed
    @Card_Crazed 2 года назад +1

    I used to fall for the cheap stuff, BUT, I only bought what I thought was Chinese companies designs. I hadn't seen or was able to find researching the stamps/dies anywhere. A few years ago, I stopped completely, as I found out a lot of my dies were knock offs of reputable companies (I do regret this.) I do credit the company that made the die if I use it on a card. I stick to reputable stores for copyrighted items. Items like enamel dots, which can't copyright a circle, and can't copyright a colour, I will buy from some "not sure if it's reputable" stores. I haven't actually purchased any yet, but I'm not totally against it. Stamps, dies and patterned paper are reputable stores ONLY.

      I have used colored nail polish to create enamel drops. Simply place a drop of nail polish on your cardstock.

      Just like anything there are reputable company's and crooks. I wouldn't know if somethings a knockoff as far as stamps and dies and i don't have the time or energy to do research to find out. Some people are on a limited budget and can"t afford to purchase from expensive shops. There is a place for inexpensive items for those that are on a limited budget. There's room for all to craft. I tell people to stay within there budget.
