I'm new to this type of craft, and if I hadn't seen you write it with my own eyes, I would've thought the lettering at the beginning was a stamp! How did you learn to write so perfectly? I'm impressed
FYI, rub an anti-static pouch over your paper before pouring the powder on to create a static-free paper that less powder will adhere to. Less/easier clean up. They cost just a few dollars at any craft store.
Thank you so much I had googled what embossing powder was for and they didn't explain it at all but you showed me not only what it was for but 3 different ways to do it and now I'm so excited about the end results that I saw you have I am going to go get the pens and possibly the liquid ink so I can try my hand at it. I have the powder and the heat tool. I got them at a yard sale but I thought it was glitter. Thank you again for inspiring me into a whole new area of crafts
EXCELLENT! EXCELLENT VIDEO! Straight to the point, clear instructions, and I love how you showed all the products needed and how you did a demo on each method! I’m completely new to embossing and I’ve watched sooo many other videos on the subject that made me left confused bc their videos were for one, too long, second, they went on and on about all the products they didn’t like and their bad experiences with each product! I just want to know how to do it, the products I need!!! YOUR video was perfect! I absolutely loved it! Also, I LOVE the name of your YT channel! Easy to remember and I love the play on words! Very “crafty”!!! Yes, your video was EXTREMELY useful for sure!!!! Thank you soooo much!!!
Seriously, this was helpful a.f. Your channel has been a life changing thing for me as a graphic designer. Never have I taken my love for calligraphy or hand-lettering seriously until I found this and your site. I cannot wait to fall farther down the rabbit hole and mix media and I wanted to take a moment and thank you.
Found some embossing supplies in a long-forgotten drawer, and tried to google "how to use embossing powder".... I should've known to come straight to your channel! As always, simple and straight forward, and not to mention your samples are gorgeous! :). Thanks Becca!
WoW, you have fantastic calligraphy skills! I haven't tried embossing powder yet, new to card-crafting, but every time I watch one of these videos, I'm dying to try it!

I know someone already asked the question, but the static powder would have helped with this. I am surprised you didn't use it. Also using a misti or tim holtz stamping tool for precision of stamping in the same location over and over would be useful too. I will note that your writing is INCREDIBLE!!! You clearly have skills when it comes to do the writing embossing.
Someone in the U.K. who works for a big company who sells said to me once at a crafters event demonstration that it’s not necessary to use antistatic at all
Wonderful! About to get a heat gun for my bday & wanted to know what basic supplies I'll need to emboss. That was perfect! Thank you so much! Blessings
Thank you SO much for this video. I literally just used many pieces of this to post a video yesterday and again today. I was a complete lost soul over here until I watched this video. Now, I’m o Lu moderately lost. 😂
Brilliant all to the point no waffle with clear helpful advise and teaching. Much appreciated thank you. Can I ask why you'd use the pot of ink rather than the pens. Is it cheaper to use a bottle of ink. A calligraphy course for use looks a good idea. Your work looks so professional and has inspired me to start embossing Thank you
9:59 I have no idea why I thought you were going to write 'Embalming' 🤦♀️ I think I've been watching too much 'Ask a Mortician with Kaitlin. LMFAO Great video 💙🐝💙
Excellent video! Question, I noticed you don't use an anti-static "bag" and wipe the cardstock before stamping/writing. Is that not a necessary step? I've seen that done on other videos. Thanks!
The anti static "powder" is to help remove oils that the embossing powder will stick to. You can make an anti-static bag using cornstarch or talcum powder in a small lint-free bag (mine is made of muslin).
Hey Becca! Awesome video! Makes me want to add this to all my crafting! Question, do you think this will work with using just a normal hair dryer instead of the heat gun? I am loving all these videos you're doing!!!
Hi. Thanks for the video has really helped me get started with embossing. I'm making some Christmas placemeats and am at the point where I'll be varnishing the placemats, my question is, I'm applying some snowflakes in embossing powder should I do the embossing first then varnish or is the embossing powder best left unsealed? Thanks.
Thank you for sharing your techniques for three embossing methods. I have yet to begin embossing. You mentioned not using that heat gun for very long as it can cause some burning. Approximately how long did it take you to use your heat tool to mount the embossing powder in the three examples? TIA ♥️
I live in Ottawa and bought the Recollections brand at Michaels in Stittsville. They had a 50% off sale :) They work great! I got the heat gun 50% off as well.
Liked and Subscribed! Thanks for the tips definitely needed this 101.Do you have any tips on Debossing? Is that something you can do with different techniques Or is that something you need expensive equipment for? Also does this only work on paper surface or can you emboss on plastic or metal? Is there a certain type of protective spray you put over the lettering to keep it looking glossy?
Is it necessary are to clean the stamp afterwards or does all the ink come of as you stamp? Seems very sticky. If so, what do you use? Thanks for the videos!
i saw another tutorial that showed the person applying a chalky substance in a small bag FIRST on the paper that is supposed to help with the powder to only stick on the glue
Do I have to apply the powder quickly? Will it dry if I let it sit too long, or is it alright for it to sit for a while? I’m embossing a book cover and it might take a while to write. I’m worried the ink will dry. Thanks!
The embossing powder I have says to dampen the paper then pour the embossing powder. But no mattet what I do it either sticks just a littie bit to everything or all pours off. Do You have to be putting ink into you indent to make it stick before heating? And i used an iron lol but when I pour it off it all pours off
You can hold it over a toaster, ink side up, just be careful to move it around and stop as soon as the powder melts..and don’t burn your fingers ;) This is how I did it before buying a heat gun
I used a bag with cornstarch in it that I bought at a local craft store. I wanted to emboss on red cardstock but it left a white film on the cardstock. Any ideas?
Well, I see how to do it but still dont know what is it. It looks like what I do with glitter and glue but why the heat gun? Is the end result like a plasticky look? Is it only done on paper?

Check out her website Nancy, she teaches courses on how and I’m participating in her current one, it’s great
Anti static powder tool is an absolute must have when embossing. Really ups your embossing powder game 👌🏼
So jealous of your handwriting skill!😍
As someone who has terrible handwriting, watching you letter had me in awe lol

Your handwriting is absolutely stunning wow

I like the way you just deal with issues and move on, very practical and reassuring
Your Lettering is amazing! great video, thanks

Your calligraphy is splendid.
Thank you! This video was very helpful, I bought embossing powder by accident thinking it was pigment, but I am glad I did now.

Good antistatic homemade : pour cornstarch in a silky tights or socks and brush your paper with it before inking the surface
Véronique A. I do this too!
Véronique A. Oooo

You have beautiful handwriting! Thank you for your tutorial to get me started with embossing. You make it look so easy. ☺️
Wow, thanks so much for sharing these 3 ways of using embossing powder!! Also want to let you know that you have really nice handwriting!
I failed the first try. I didn't put enought empossing powder. Nailed it the second try.Thank you for sharing.
Wonderful! About to get a heat gun for my bday & wanted to know what basic supplies I'll need to emboss. That was perfect! Thank you so much! Blessings
Didn’t know this was a thing- just in an artsy mind and love it - very patient !!!!!!!
Awesome tutorial! I love the black on black!
Loved this video. I just purchased embossing stuff and ready to try. Thank you for the video.
U have amazing handwriting! No way would my handwriting look that good!
I got a giant box of embossing powder for 50¢ and had no idea what to do with it and google wasn't very useful. Very informative video!
Thank you SO much for this video. I literally just used many pieces of this to post a video yesterday and again today. I was a complete lost soul over here until I watched this video. Now, I’m o Lu moderately lost. 😂
I just had someone ask me to do something, that I am going to need to use the pen technique for, so thanks so much!!!
Brilliant all to the point no waffle with clear helpful advise and teaching. Much appreciated thank you. Can I ask why you'd use the pot of ink rather than the pens. Your lettering is amazing! Thx for such a helpful video!
Am just getting into embossing. Thank you for the very helpful video.
Such pretty penmanship
9:59 I have no idea why I thought you were going to write 'Embalming' 🤦♀️ I think I've been watching too much 'Ask a Mortician with Kaitlin. LMFAO Great video 💙🐝💙
Made by a BEAutiful queen-Bea 🤣🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤣🤣
I thought the same thing!
Great video! Simple and straightforward, just what I needed. Thanks 😀
Beautiful handwriting
You have beautiful handwriting!! Unfortunately I don't lol. Could I print out a font and trace with the embossing pen?
Thanks for the tutorial! And thanks for linking everything! ❤
Excellent video! Question, I noticed you don't use an anti-static "bag" and wipe the cardstock before stamping/writing. Is that not a necessary step? I've seen that done on other videos. Thanks!
If it helps you or anyone else, I just learned you can also use a laundry dryer sheet instead of that fancy bag!
The anti static "powder" is to help remove oils that the embossing powder will stick to. You can make an anti-static bag using cornstarch or talcum powder in a small lint-free bag (mine is made of muslin).
Your writing is beautiful
No, no, no, no, no, no! You hand wrote that?!? Give me a break! I couldn't do that if I had 1200 years of practice!!! 😫 You have such talent!!!
You have a very beautiful hand writing ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for posting this video you are a great instructor.
Hey Becca! Awesome video! Makes me want to add this to all my crafting! Question, do you think this will work with using just a normal hair dryer instead of the heat gun? I am loving all these videos you're doing!!!
Unfortunately no- hair dryers don't get hot enough!
The Happy Ever Crafter I have had success with an iron. If you flip the page over and iron the back it gets hot enough
Hi. Thanks for the video has really helped me get started with embossing. Where did you learn to do such beautiful writing?....brilliant...🤗
Thank you for sharing your techniques for three embossing methods. I have yet to begin embossing. You mentioned not using that heat gun for very long as it can cause some burning. Approximately how long did it take you to use your heat tool to mount the embossing powder in the three examples? TIA ♥️
If you keep the heat gun moving it helps then when the powder changes colour you stop, you will get used to how long. It’s very quick
Your handwriting is as beautiful as you are!
Do you have any videos on creative handwriting? Yours is fantastic!
I don’t think she wrote it by hand...it looks like a stencil. Either way, I agree it looks good!
did you find her lettering classes? They are fantastic!
She has classes and teaches modern calligraphy. Check into it. Definitely worth the time and money, IMO.
Ok but if my handwriting isn't as good?.. lol you have beautiful handwriting.
Thank you for the video this was very helpful.
How long did you hold the heat gun up to the powder?? Thank you for this video!
Thanks so much for covering all the aspects :)
thanks so much. Great hand writting
Thanks. Helpful video. Embossing is always a mystery to me. The ones are awesome. How did you learn to do that type of calligraphy?
Will a blowdryer work or do we need a heat gun?
This video was so helpful! thank you so much!! One question, fellow Canadian here...where do you buy ranger pens and the zing powder?
WadUp5 You can get them Amazon!
I live in Ottawa and bought the Recollections brand at Michaels in Stittsville. They had a 50% off sale :) They work great! I got the heat gun 50% off as well.
Wonderful work. Thank you.
New to this art...
Question
Can this be done on glass and mirrors?
becauseHe1stlovedme I tried to do it in glass and it worked I’m not sure on windows though
so was that an actual blowdryer you used or do you have to use something else? would a blowdryer not work?

Very interesting questions. Sadly this thread is 3 years old, so nobody will reply: I will do my own research:D
very helpful! Thanks
I’ve never embossed before, when does embossing come into play? Like what do you use it for?
Is it necessary are to clean the stamp afterwards or does all the ink come of as you stamp? Seems very sticky. If so, what do you use? Thanks for the videos!
Going to try it
Great how to, thanks!☺️
I needed to remind myself how to do this… (method No.2 👍)
This is so helpful. Thank you so much!
Can I get your handwriting as one of my fonts? It’s stunning. Wow.
Can you use this on acrylic for wedding invitations ?
Can we use the same methods in the video in embossing letters on glass surfaces? Can glue and embossing powder work together?
i saw another tutorial that showed the person applying a chalky substance in a small bag FIRST on the paper that is supposed to help with the powder to only stick on the glue
Hello, what type of card did you use here? Is it any cardstock that can be used?
How do you feel about the anti-static cling powders that help to not let the excess embossing powder to stick to the paper?
I haven't found one that I find works perfectly- I generally always have to go through with a paintbrush after and touch it up!
Tyvm for sharing
Can i use this powder on polymer clay projects that are going into the oven?
Thank you for this video
Gorgeous 💕. Thank you.💕👍❤️🙏🏻🌿🌎💕
Beautiful thank you
Do I have to apply the powder quickly? Will it dry if I let it sit too long, or is it alright for it to sit for a while? I’m embossing a book cover and it might take a while to write. I’m worried the ink will dry. Thanks!

Can I use regular hair dryer? 🤔
No. Too much air and not hot enough. Stick to a heat gun.
You can hold it over a toaster, ink side up, just be careful to move it around and stop as soon as the powder melts..and don’t burn your fingers ;) This is how I did it before buying a heat gun
So helpful! Can you do this on wood?
You should be able to, yup! Depending on the type of wood, though, it may or may not show up quite as well!
What paper are you embossing on?
Can I do this on cotton shirts? Or can you show how to do it if possible?
Can I use hairdryer instead of heat gun?
Will it work on pleather?
What type of paper stock did you use? Weight?
Can we use Blow Dryer instead of hear gun ??
Do you need a heat gun/? anyway around that??
Will this also work on a metal water bottle?
I learned a lot. Thanks much.
Does embossing powder works on a stazon opaque?
Hi! I would like to know any other pems which are used to write for embossing? Can we use calligraphy writing ink pens also for it?
I used a bag with cornstarch in it that I bought at a local craft store. I wanted to emboss on red cardstock but it left a white film on the cardstock. Any ideas?
Well, I see how to do it but still dont know what is it. It looks like what I do with glitter and glue but why the heat gun? Is the end result like a plasticky look? Is it only done on paper?
If the powder isn't sticking is it the kind of ink pad im using
Is it permanent enough to put on the outside of an envelope and mail?
does the brush pen fray as well?
Wow nice handwritting
Thank you
How much time do you have between putting the powder on and heating it?
Also, do you use a special paper? Thanks!
I put the powder on and heat it up immediately :)
As for paper, the thicker the paper, the better! :)
@@TheHappyEverCrafter This was my exact question. Glad it was already answered!
