I like this style a lot with the slats on the bottom. I built a side table years ago with the same concept. I really like the hint about getting some stone leftovers from a countertop place. Great find on this slate!
I could watch ur channel all day
The egg yolk mess end up looking like an art!
Poached eggs method - pure genius!
good job :) sorry for laughing out loud at the pouched egg drop hahaha.
we need more cooking videos! LOL
Great project! Home Made Modern has really inspired me to start my own DIY projects!
Fantastic! Happy to have inspired you!
just leave the eggs in the shells. When you use a water bath like that it works just as well and is so much easier. Because you do a low temperature it has a texture more like a poached egg than a hard boiled egg. I love doing that for some eggs benedict
Spiffy Ben!! There is something poetic about that final shot!!;)
Love this project. So simple and it looks great. And I feel like it's something I could do myself. 👍🏻
You could definitely make this
Beautiful work mate, well done!
That was awesome! Thank you for the inspiration I was looking to do something like that with black pipe this is much easier your way
Great job at incorporating the CNC steak board in the video as well!
The meat trays turned out really well, as did the bench and the eggs. I think they could have poached for a little longer! Try some white vinegar in the water to keep the eggs from going stringy.
This looks amazing, I love the pop of green on top. Well done!
binge watching your vids. great job, hope i can make one too
Loved this project. Simple, but super functional and it looks great. Just curious, have you thought about building a workbench to assemble your projects? Makes my knees hurt to see you put them together while kneeling on the floor - but I'm old.
Awesome project and great video! This is exactly the style that made my love the HomeMadeModern channel in the first place! Great!
Your videos are amazing! Love watching them
nice! about to move into a new apartment in a new city and was recently looking at islands to buy. I think ill make this instead!
Simple and effective all the while be great looking. Love the channel man!
Nice project, looked like a great quick project.
ALWAYS love what you do!!! Hey , maybe for spring you can make a patio concrete fish pond?
Love the idea of using scrap to make an island. Your eggs were a minute shy of being perfect.
Great job. Congratulations!
I love this project but I didn’t understand what you applied for the top coat for the finished look??? It has a wonderful shine on it! Thank you for sharing this beautiful table/Iland.👍👍👍👍
Went to your web site and cannot find instructions for this. Can you provide the link for the instruction? TY
Dope video Ben, just very recently started being more selective when I buy 2x4s. Nice grain pattern to those those legs and aprons 👍
Looks Great!
Nice and clean design
Great video and Great project .Well Done
You should add wheels to the island
The kitchen island looks very nice and the assembly looked easy enough. I liked your technique for poaching eggs. Very clever! But I noticed you weren't cooking on a range.. What appliance did you use to poach your eggs?
tinyurl.com/yajfgzpw
He cooked them Sous Vide.
Thank you!
Ben, they told you those were Fir? Not a chance. Great build either way!
Great work!
Looks amazing Ben! But I can't believe you're nearly 40!
シンプルなデザインがいいと思いました。
Why didn't you measure the position of the slats? You measured the position of the screws because you'll see them, but SURELY the slats as out as they are is far more visible
*I love your project*
Really like the design. Like the colour contrast between the slate and the wood.
I also really like the small serving/cutting board towards the end of the video. Is it something that you did/design or something that you picked up somewhere ?
Love it!
love it, well done..
Nice one Ben!
Absolutely brilliant design, love it. Have considered putting something to make the island mobile?
Very nice job.
Very nice!
Nice project 👍
Good job!
i like it!
Great tutorial
great job
amazing project
Adorei, super útil.
Great project, Ben. Hey-I'm thinking of getting a ryoba, and noticed you have one with with the tang that goes into the handle. I think those are usually carbon steel...I'm wondering if and how you sharpen yours, and if holds and edge well, like the throwaway blades? Thanks.
nice job
so cool!
"the cutting board mineral oil" is that food safe? can you give the brand? If I want to make the top with wood which type do I use for food safe?
When will you post details of this project to your website?
very nice
Awesome video! Could you do one on a stackable bed? Like the one by Rolf Heide! Thanks for your content :)
Looks really good!
Was it in Boston where you got the remnants? I may have to visit that place once it starts to get warm.
Would the silicon caulk trick also work for a wooden countertop?
Great job man! I noticed you're from Boston and was wondering if you would be willing to share your counter top supplier. I would love to try this build myself. :)
How well does slate act with heat? It looks awesome.
I don't know about his specific slate, but from installing plenty of counter tops it should be fine with heat. You can put any hot pot on it and be fine
Nice project. Looks awesome. Quick question. What was the device that was hanging inside the pot when you were doing your eggs?
It is called a Sous vide!
Still no instructions on the website. Are you going to post?
me like it
great
Hey did you get that in Boston
First? Love the PodCast
its only 360p?
Nice job ;-)
Nice)
Now all I need are power tools on a budget
Best tools for a budget is Robyi. Rigid is my personal favorite but if you only need stuff for small things and dont plan on being a full time maker robyi is the way to go for a budget.
Sorry about your egg, but at least you made a great table 😂
I was like: Ohhhh nice! finishing off the video with a fancy looking homemade breakf.... fuck.
Great video though!
what material is the top green thing ? what is it called
Limestone!
Make another desk
any kno de wea ?
No vids recently
What kind of saw is that?
Ryobi battery miter saw, here's a link to it on amazon. It's great for apartments or if you don't have a shop or place to store a bulky compound miter saw

closing on 40? who else thought he was 30
Hi 😀🇲🇽
😍😉✌️
second? love the video
I love the project but one thing bugs me about it! You measured where your screws were going to be visible but didn't evenly space the slats which are also visible! Lol! *facepalm* Still, it looks great Ben!
It was expensive
omg
Gus from Rooster Teeth.
360p ?
Up to 1080p 60fps. RUclips can take a few hours to a full day to process the higher resolutions and have them available at a server near you.
For some reason, RUclips has started posting videos in 360p while higher resolutions are still processing. If you watch right when a video is uploaded the high res might not be available. There is nothing the creator can do about this. The only fix is to wait 5 minutes or so for RUclips to finish processing the upload and make high res available.
Why do people still not understand this?
ooooh ok thanks
65 bucks for a slate is a lot. Im pretty sure you couldve gotten the for free
40? u look like 22
thank you!
Egg gravy? 😂😂😂
Way to difficult
This is to FAST SMH AND NO CAPTION FOR HEARING IMPAIRMENTS 😩
you make really great projects, but your cooking is misguided: using a an immersion circulatior to cook poached eggs is the longest route possible to get the wrong results, instead place some cling film in a cup, drop the egg in, close it off by twisting it, and throw that in boiling water for a couple minutes... you will get a much better and still impossible to screw up poached egg.
They are all just different methods of cooking.
you are not wrong, but you have to understand, you have close to a million subscribers, they all trust in what you show in your videos, so when you show your method for cooking eggs, it is really the culinary equivalent of making furniture using staples... sure, it might actually work, but it is still a bad practice.
No it isn't! Get over it!
Love it!
