      Thank you! I know exactly what you are talking about ! It was so hard for me to watch those channels that dedicated their videos to making this fake image of a “perfect service dog”. It always made me feel bad and question my dogs working ability. I wanted to make my channel to show that service dogs and service dogs in training are not perfect and they make mistakes all the time. You just have to use those moments as training experiences. Just like people dogs learn from their mistakes also

    Is there any time that the service dog is provided for the patient? My Mom was just diagnosed with heart failure and intestine cancer. Its all new I took her into the er on 4th of July when she was having severe pain in lower abdomen. She's still in the hospital and had had surgery to try removing the cancer mass off, but 4 days later we got test results and it's still there. Her and I are both nurodivegent as well. But she lives on ssi and doesn't have a lot of money at all, nor do I. But I know we both would benift greatly from having a dog just in general and a service dog would be beyond helpful. But I know we don't have the money to be able to afford a service dog, we would have the money for vet and basic dog care. And we've always have had a dog up till her last dog got hit by a car about 5yrs ago. He was a labor doodle. And was definitely so amazing for my Moms mental health and physical health. Anyways I'm sure she can get her Dr to prescribe a service dog, that's easy.

      “Washing” a dog is when you pull them from service training (they didn’t make the cut for some reason) maybe bc they were to reactive, exited, or aggressive. So u wash/remove the dog from training and they will not become a service dog. “Retiring” a dog is when a fully trained service dog who has worked for years retires from work due to age or health.

    You do not need a Dr prescription for your Service Animal and it does not need to get a new prescription yearly. You do need that for a Emotional Support Animal. There is a big difference a SD has full access rights like store, restaurants any where the public has access to, even an ambulance with you ER or even your room. They are not allowed in operating room, if you want to take your SA into someone’s house they need to allow it also taking the SD to a Church but my experience Church’s really don’t mind. Again public access rights except a SD. All of this you can read under the federal law (ADA Title two), if you still have legal right questions call them. I literally have them on speed dial in case I find myself in a situation where someone is violating my Civil Rights under the ADA they can clear it up. It is a federal law for anyone to interfere with a SD team, either the handler or the SD itself.

      It depends. Lots of people make their current pet or ESA a service dog. Many dogs from shelters bc service dogs through rescue programs as well. It’s more recommended to get a puppy and start training at a young age so it has a good foundation and work up to service work. Normally they say “fully trained” service dogs take 2 years to train. I have heard trainers say they wouldn’t train a dog that’s over the age of 2 at most. People have better luck starting with younger dogs. The older the dog the harder and longer it might take to train it.

      @@kyla8385 that’s good that he’s well behaved those are good qualities that service dogs should have. But it does take a lot more than having a good temperament to make a dog a service dog.
      First The handler must have a disability (some kind of illness that limits one’s ability to do everyday life activities). Then the dog must be trained to preform tasks to assist their handler with the specific disability. Emotional support doesn’t count as a task and doesn’t make a dog a service dog.

    I was wondering, if you were to get some sort of papers from your doctor as a prescerpetion for a dog, would those count as papers that people ask for? Like that would seem like an easy way to do registration papers bc you have to talk to a doctor first

    • @dallastheservicedoodle7236
      @dallastheservicedoodle7236  3 года назад +4

      People aren’t supposed to ask for papers from service dog handlers. If they do then they are violating the rights of the service dog handler. Many service dog handlers have notes from their doctors prescribing them a service dog to help with a disability. But they don’t need them. It’s best not to show papers Bc then the business will start to expect papers and ask for them from other teams who may not have any. There is also no registration for service dogs. Anyone can register their dog online or get a dr note online but these documents are not real and don’t give the person the right to take the dog places.
      The only things needed to have a service dog is one to have some kind of disability (something that limits you from doing everyday life activities) and the dog must be train to do some kind of task that helps the handler with the disability (behavior interruption, seizure alert and response, guiding tasks…). The dog must also be trained to be in a public environment meaning they must be under control at all times (no barking, whining, pulling on the leash, begging for food, aggressiveness, reactivity towards people or dogs…). But No papers or documents are needed. Although u can get a doctors note from one of your doctors that follows your medical status. Having a doctors note is always a good idea

    How do I get a service dog? I have Multiple sclerosis and depression. I cry a lot.

      U could talk to ur doctor about it and see if they believe it's right and could write a note so u have no problem qualifying for one and maybe give u suggestions for programs

    I definetely think one would be really helpful I have quite a few issues some of which can end up with me passing out. I have to try to raise funds for one tho so wish me luck😂
