BMW E87 1 Series 2006 - Replacing Rear Electric Window Regulator

- In this video I replace the rear right (O/S/R) electric window regulator/lifter mechanism on a 2006 BMW 1 series (E87). The vehicle had presented with an electric window fault and a door window glass that was no longer connected to the mechanism and therefore free to slide down into the door. This was lucky for the owner as the window could easily have suddenly dropped down into the door and smashed but instead, had slowly worked its way down into the door, held only by the resistance of the rubber seals. I fitted a pre-owned genuine BMW part to save money on this older vehicle.

Thanks for the video. My E87 window regulator broke on the exact same spot as shown in the video. 🙈
Thank you so much, had exactly the same problem with my window last Saturday, called the panel beater, he didn't show-up, decided to check it out myself, found your video and my window is working fine, did it my self. Unfortunately I couldn't find a used mechanism, had to order one from BMW, cost me equivalence of 142 pounds (I'm in Botswana), and that doesn't include the motor, had to take the old motor and fit to the new mechanism. Point is, I'm still thankful because you made your video practical and to understand.
fixed mine thank you for the help!
Made easy to follow and also explained well. I feel I could confidently do the same watching this.
I just changed my regulator. I found this video very helpful and instructional. Especially the removal of the door trim. I would not have known to use that much force. Thank you.
Excellent job thanks. i opened my window in 5 min with your help.
Thank you! Great video, easy to follow, cant wait to install mine and save some money!
Excellent easy to follow description & video; many thanks.
Very good description, with your help I spared a lots of money, thx😊
Hi I found your Video very informative and easy to follow. I have bmw 118d Mport E87/N47 2008 5 Door Hatchback and whilst driving the OSR DOOR glass dropped down and would not go back up. So i followed up your instruction and got stuck whilst I was undueing the Torx20 screws, the top screw I managed to open but when I was attempting to unscrew the bottom screw I found that the previous owner had tightened it so very very hard and have used a power driver and found the screw head was stripped/chewed up. I tried all different methods to unscrew using rubber band but to no avail, it is very very difficult being the screw located inside like a tube, I have tried drilling the head in anticlockwise and then used the AM TECH screw extractor in anticlockwise, also used the SPEEDOUT EXTRACTOR int he same manner but to no avail. So hence I have drilled the head out but still no sign of coming apart from the metal door frame (I did opeened up all the plastic pins which holds the panel in place and pulling up ans away from the top horizontal clips etc). Do you think the white plastic part which takes up the screw behind the panel would have melted during the heat generated from drilling? I dont not think so, I may be wrong? Any suugestion/feedback would be greatly appreciated, Thanking you, Regards Raj
Well done video, easy and clear instructions...
Thank You for this vídeo. Today I need to check it out the Pilot rear window.
Super nice! Thanks.
Thanks for this video, yesterday I open my back door and change the windows system, I found quite difficult to unplug the windows button but apart from that everything go smoothly . Thanks again you save me a couple of hundred euros. Btw I order the windows replacement on ebay and worked perfectly. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I am glad it was helpful. Can save so much money when not having to pay labour and can just focus on getting the best deal on the parts!
Very useful thanks
Thank you verry much Sir!!!!
Grazie per il video
Thanks a lot, quite useful clip and Job done , yayayaya
😍😃😃😃
Had mine done today but when you close door the window doesn't click upto top small gap? Does it need realigning?
You could use a hair dryer to warm up the tack abit.
Hi thanks for video, I have exactly the same issue, do you have the part number for the widow motor array in its entirety for replacement? Thank fully my glass survived!. Cheers
I’ve just looked back at my eBay purchase history to see if there was a part number but it is now too long ago to view the listing.
The window won’t let me pull it up and it tries to pull itself back down. Would you know why or how I could fix this problem. I tried to use the window button to help wind it up but it would just make a cracking noise inside the door
In that situation I would remove the interior door trim to understand what is going on inside.
Hi help me,what is problem, front passenger window button not going down, only up,but driver side button working down and up good!??bmw 118d 2007
Switch is a possibility here. Hard to diagnose remotely.
👌👌👌👌👌☘☘☘❣
Is the e87 windows regulator same as e90.....by the way great video sir...
Thank you. The process would be broadly similar with some minor differences to the process of removing the door interior trim.
Thanks for the informations...
Who else broke the clips on their window switch? It’s not easy to get out (on my e87). Probably easier to leave the switch in the door trim, and use a bit of string or something to stop the weight of the trim damaging the switch cable. That’s a faff, but better than having to order a new switch because you broke the clips 😢
