  • NASA space food scientist Xulei Wu dishes on what considerations go into preparing food for the astronauts on the International Space Station. Learn how Wu trains astronauts for dining in space and what solutions she and the other food scientists have cooked up to meet the challenges of eating in a microgravity environment.

I’m honestly inspired by space, it’s crazy how small we are compared to the whole universe. I’m sad that I might not be able to live to see humanity go far far beyond into the vast vacuum of space.

I first learned this was a job when we toured the Space Center in Houston, and I immediately lit up. I wish I had known this was an option when I was younger, it would have been a perfect career for me.

I think lab grown food could be good in space. I’d also like to see how mushrooms grow in space.

Congratulation. Truly very interesting. May we have some more like this. I use to do taste testing for a big food company and loved every moment of it. Also I love the idea not spending time in the kitchen just pick up a tubes and get food faster no washing up. Yippie. Now you should start thinking feeding Earthlinks on Earth out of tubes. I would love to se a Tubes Supermarket💃🤸‍♀️🤸‍♂️💃

what same things? yes the cooks probably cook similar things often, but the scientists behind space food are constantly working on ways to improve the food and make new food.
