What a fantastic find Troy. I couldn’t imagine his feelings of letting his baby go. My late Grandfather bought his 1946 Piper J-3 Cub airplane in May of 1968. He gave it to me a few months before he passed in 2019 and since then I have fully restored it better than factory. Did all the work myself on it. A LOT of love went into it so I can only imagine what Kevin put into his Charger.
Here we are over 50 years later and you guys prove that many people chose to be caretakers of these cars to the degree they were able. Be it sitting outside under a tarp, in a field refusing please to send to a scraper, or inside a garage…it all speaks to the same thing. These are special cars and it is no surprise there’s still tons of them out there. Another great one fellas and I look forward to them every weekend. 🤝
Wow 5150, you have just taken yourselves to another level, taking time to listen to the family, the stories and letting the gentleman give his memories, honesty, empathy and just great blokes. You are up there as the best RUclips team buying cars, I can see why people reach out to you guys, well done👏👏👏👏
Damn Troy, best video to date! The way you gents showed so much respect and kindness to the ole gentleman was outstanding! You gents are really a class act. Hear me talkin to ya!
Great find/story. Makes me wonder what happened to my Dad's '68 383 Auto on column buddy seat buckets in triple green (green/green vinyl/green int) that he traded a year later in '69 (still like new) at a local Chevy dealer in town. Wow, cannot wait to see this completely original again....gold with the black vinyl top. And you got the console Auto and A/C! And what a fast put together at the end!
This is fantastic. Thanks for taking the time and getting the stories from dad. It's been a long time coming to get its second wind. Glad it's sticking around Oklaoma and who knows, maybe one day.
I appreciate you commenting, I know this had to be extremely hard. Would have been nice to meet you but I totally understand. Our plan is for Dalton to get it running & driving so we can come take dad for a ride, maybe you could be the one to take him for that ride. Hope to meet you in the future, we look forward to coming back 🤝
See, this is just what I mentioned in a recent video. Your interaction and story finding with folks like this set you apart in the youtube community. Thanks for great content!
Thanks to all at Mopar 5150 watched lots of the u tube videos produced by the team this one ranks way up there the story is heart warming troy was so gracious to the previous owner and showed the family lots of respect, alsodid a great job working with the family and getting the real story and the history of the car, great job telling the story, thanks troy for making this more than a simple car purchase. 👍👍👍
Darn sorry I missed you guys, I should have guessed it was some time ago. If you ever find yourself coming back glad to host you guys. I’m a strictly GM guy but you are slowly turning me! Jim
I would sell you guys my car if I was in that situation Troy and tony are very respectful and nice to people! As are all the guys I only know you guys by name. If 5150 builds that car you guys have to go and take that family for a ride or right to buy it.
Great day for MOPAR 5150, great find. Family has to feel good about this car going to a good home. I hear you are coming to Houston, be glad to meet up with you guys. Jim
Thank you brother, however this all took place in April / May. But what we found in Houston was INCREDIBLE but got a little delayed. So that will actually end up being another month out from now. Hopefully 🤞 we will be able to make sense of it on the timeline. But when it hits our channel 😳 it’s gonna be incredible! Houston DEFINITELY delivered 🍻💪🍻
We appreciate you brother, without you this wouldn’t have happened. Im looking forward to getting the car running and coming back to take Kevin for a ride. I hope you can join us when that takes place 👍👍
Great car, great story but the only thing that would have made it better is if he could've sat in it one more time. You guys made his day reminiscing about old times even though it was a sad day for him also.
Nice find, those 383 cars are nice, to bad it isn’t a 4BL, be interesting how you’ll put the engine back together, can’t remember if the 2bl cars got the 727 or 904 trans or the 8 3/4 axle? One wheeler or sure grip? Or the manifolds
We are, Dalton whom is in the video is going to make this his car, you will see a future episode most likely with Kevin as well 💪💪 The car is staying in Oklahoma 👍👍
"The average guy" what a lie. Condition that car is in and parts don't go missing before it's sold, $75,000+ complete rolling shell; money the " average guy" does not have.
You misunderstood, I’m talking the average guys ability, not the average guys wallet. However with that said if someone wants it bad enough, average or not, they will make it happen. I know a lot of guys that aren’t so called “rich guys” that build these cars all the time. They want it bad enough. Some people are willing to sacrifice other “wants” for something the feel important enough.
The stories sometimes are the best part
I hope you guys restore it instead of someone else. I think they will appreciate the sentiment more 🙏
Dalton is taking that on, he is in the video. We will have a follow up episode as soon as it’s running / driving 🍻🍻
@@ChasingMusclecars_Mopars5150 Sweet, the ole man would be over the moon I'm sure 🙏...keep up the great vids...Mopar or no car 🤘

Rad shot of it rolling out of the garage and the dust blowing off it!
Barn dust!!! It’s magical 🎉

It takes persistence to get through a project like that and life doesn't always cooperate.
💯‼️

This may be the best episode yet.
Thank you!
Letting it go must feel like saying goodbye to your 20 year old self. But he’s doing the right thing.
Troy - the respect that you showed the older gentleman was so special to watch. You guys are amazing.
Thank you brother 👍
Such amazing stories = thank you 🙏 so much for being able to chase them down and share their stories

Hopefully being that the new rig first haul is a 1969 charger its the first of many!

If the Charger could talk, the stories it could tell
Absolutely 💯
Great story and we will need a follow up on it...... I would cry to if my baby went off on a trailer also.
Clean car. Deserves the next chapter. You guys do great things.
Thanks brother!

@@ChasingMusclecars_Mopars5150 I’d be there in a heartbeat!
You guys rock mopar forever !!!😊
Great car, great story but the only thing that would have made it better is if he could've sat in it one more time. You guys made his day reminiscing about old times even though it was a sad day for him also.
I agree, sometimes in the moment it’s hard to think of everything. And there is no do overs but I wished we had done that too.

Enjoy these Mopar stories, put them cars back on the road!
That's the plan!

Great Story and Great Find !!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I had the same exact car without. No a/c and console in mine. I still have pictures of that one
Great story!
Western Kansas is as dry as anything. LOL!
Glad you enjoyed it!
did you guys buy any of ed mulkey's hemi b bodies? he was in waco georgia back in the 80's.& 90's.
No we didn’t 👎
Since the car didn’t have a name. I think it would be great for the car to be called Kevin.
Great idea, we usually use the wife’s name.
Hope you guys paid the family a really fair price🤔… that’s a rare car… with rare history.
69 charger,,,,, Yeee Yeee

We already put plans in place for its restoration. The car will stay in Oklahoma with Dalton. You will see a follow up video on this one 👍👍
One of the few channels ill watch. Wasted alot of time, not for me. I like comfort and drivability now. Cars cant love you back.
Honestly & respectfully I don’t really understand this comment
