Pink Floyd - "A Saucerful of Secrets"

- Опубликовано: 25 сен 2013
- "A Saucerful of Secrets" was titled "The Massed Gadgets of Hercules" in its earliest performance and became a Pink Floyd live staple from 1968--72. A live version of the track is available on their 1969 double album Ummagumma, and an alternative version is seen and heard in the film Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii,

When u r feeling down, frustrated, angry, sad, depressed just listen to any pink flyod song it will work as medicine
I would agree with that up until the cusp of 'Wish you were here' and ' Animals' , something changed......
So true 4 me
maybe. sometimes their music makes me feel even more upset..

I can't explain exactly why, but this piece is painfully beautiful. It sounds like something lost in ancient times, like primordial nostalgia...
Gregorian chant for angels. The lack of lyrics with choir boy sounds.
So beautifully put. This is how I feel watching this masterpiece
like something found from pompeii
I wonder what that “saucer full of secrets” is about is it the area of pompeii itself and the wonder of what lies below the unexcavated ground or maybe the tale of Mt Vesuvius as a “saucer,” it’s magma and hot ash a “secret,” from the beginning it builds up to a crescendo where it explodes, just like the song.

Damn RITE!
Rick gave all of his best before he passed
He was the best, too bad Roger Kicked him out after 1980
But then David got him in early 90s happily!
Exactly why this band was so much more than Waters.
Everything about this is perfect..... And Nick's drumming is out of this world.
It's so musical.
And Nick isn’t even the best drummer around, but compliments Floyd’s music more than I’d think any other kind of drummer could
This was when Nick was still hungry
Malade le drummer sait psychédélique
@Leo Y Lee agree 100%, u expressed perfectly what my heart (and brain) think of Nick's style but can't find the exact words to describe it. Thanks man.
Roger : Too bad guys I didn't come up with any good lyrics.
David : Hold my beer...
Ha, good one!
More like "hold my hair" haha

I miss the days when people were famous because they have talent
It will come back eventually
What's the matter, you don't think Wet Ass Pussy is talent 🤣🤣🤣
Stupid people have been famous since Ancient Rome but yeah, I miss when talented people were also made famous.
@@workhorse7134 really bad for ya
bruh stupid people were famous by then as well, there's great artists around, and they are famous as well so if u met few stupid artists that's your problem, also if you're a boomer hating on all new music that's also your problem
I love how they're here performing in an empty Roman Amphitheatre, in the middle of a ruined city, playing only for the ghosts of the Romans, while the wind blows the sand and their long hair, while David cries to the ghosts with all his passion, communicating with them. Reenacting their woeful cries as they were engulfed in fire.
This is what this performance means to me. This is why they're really here.
That's what I thought....connection between souls
They are playing right where all the combat spectacles took place. The games. Then there was the eruption.
Imagine being there when this performance took place 😲
Exactly, bro.
This is in the ruins of Pompeii. It's just south of Naples, Italy.

The combination of Richard's organ and David's guitar in the beginning leave me speechless, so emotional. There will never be another Floyd.
Nicks drumming is amazing.... just every point of this is another level of music that will never be achieved again

This track is a travel: From chaos to harmony, to melody and beyond words... Such a masterpiece. This is best version the did!
This is the 1st time I've herd this version. Excellent!-im so glad I came across it
Best version indeed. But after the studio album. I don't know why but the studio version it sounds so trippy, better than on LSD
Such an inspiration for my music
My personal favorite has got to be the Ummagumma live version. It looks (yes it looks, and sounds) amazing on LSD!
Its the meaning of life to me. Similar to Jimi Hendrix rendition of the star spangled banner. Hard to handle sometimes but if you just embrace it and keep going, its the most beautiful thing you’ve ever experienced
RICK WRIGHT WAS GENIUS.R.I.P YOU GREAT SOUL. YOUR MUSIC IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE ETERNAL
"Live" at Pompeii has double meaning. Two thousand years ago Vesuvius erupted; everybody lay down and died. They all woke up when they heard this otherworldly music, rejoiced, and went to heaven.

2023 and I am still in love with Pink Floyd
The drumming is out of this world.
Gilmour always looks blissfully unaware of what a god he is.
Yeah. From what I have seen he seems like a good dude
David's a Divine Angel, Roger's a Delicious Devil and Syd is The Supreme Deity!
It's the sign of a humble man, never even flaunting his exceptional talent on stage. A rare gem, he always shines in my eyes.
A sexy god
Yall are simping for a dude. Gimps
The moment when David Gilmour opens his mouth to sing just brings the heavens crumbling down.

I was gonna give this a thumb's down, but I actually like your comment: it's the feud that gets the thumbs down from me. Stupid....
Which is unfortunate they need to stop fighting a classic performance tho.
Can't they just step on their pride and ego and do this solid one for the fans?
@@SolaceRetreat In my opinion their ego leds them to able to made these beyond the earth chords. One of them the positive side and the another one is the dark. This mixture made the Pink Floyd.

Pink Floyd Greatest Band Of All Time
Pink Floyd: The rare band that transcends time, space & spirit. Whole body, yet out of body experience. I stunt their influence by saying band. Mesmerizing ❤
