This is a genius device! I bought mine at Starbucks awhile back and have been browsing RUclips for a helpful tutorial. Your presentation is perfect...clear, friendly and concise. Thanks for posting!
I bought one of these OXO brewers a few weeks ago, largely because of this video. I don't use it every day; I usually want more than one cup at a time, but I love this device. It works, and it looks great on my counter alongside my grinder and my Ninja coffee maker. Thanks loads!
You are all set up! I love it when I want just one more cup and don't want to fuss with the technical pour over. :-) Super happy you like it! Thanks for the comment.
Rinsing the filter paper with hot water before adding the coffee grounds eliminates the paper taste. Discard the rinse water and then continue. Not so sure the drain hole spacing is designed to avoid hitting the sides because of paper taste. More than likely to avoid pouring water along the sides for coffee extraction issues many speak about. Plus the added holes as compared to One drain hole, spreads the water out more evenly over the grounds.
haha that's hardly a portion of the different brewers I have :-) it's a little ridiculous, but hey, you can't be an expert unless you try to learn everything!
I have one of those, its great. I only wish the base of the brewer was a half inch wider so it would fit a more sizes of cups. But it does make a great cup of coffee.
It looks like you used a small coffee grinder that made enough for 1 or 2 cups of coffee. That's all I would need for my Aeropress or this Oxo. What coffee grinder do you use or recommend? Thanks.
BENNY! Thank you. That's exactly what I'm trying to get across. We can make great coffee and not be snobby about it. Even if we do use scales and timers. You don' have to if you don't want to.
Something is wrong. The coffee bed doesn’t look right. There’s no grounds on the bottom of filter, looks like the water where straight through not extracting the grounds. Usually it takes 2:30-3:00 minutes to extract that amount of coffee.
Pre - Covid: I would get up, make a cup using my Kuerig then stop and get another at Circle K on way to work. During/Post Covid: Wake up and make one 12 oz cup exactly like this and then about 60 minutes later make a 18oz "to go" with French Press. I told my wife I wanted a Moka pot for Christmas and got yelled at :)
Paul Tribble 😂 I’ve got about 14 ways to brew coffee! Moka pot is fun. I’d recommend the electric one if you get one. It’s sooooo much easier to get right and tasting great. The stovetop version can get too hot and the coffee can taste a little burnt.
@@BeanHoppersCraftCoffee quick question...what do you like for entry level burr grinders....I have a manual right now and it is a pain in the ass to keep changing it
@@paultribble7181 hi Paul. It depends on your budget and definition of entry level. If you don’t need to make espresso then you have lots of choices like the cuisinart burr grinder. If you really want consistency you’ll spend about $150 - $200. I really live my Oxo burr grinder because it weighs the ground coffee. So I actually get better ratios. Bodum makes excellent coffee products without breaking the bank. I’d avoid names like Black and decker or Krups. Poor quality.
… Try cleaning out the tiny holes in the water tank with safety pins… You may find that a few of the tiny holes need a little help… This will make sure that all of your holes will make the proper amount of "rain" from your tank...🇺🇸
@@BeanHoppersCraftCoffee -- Someone else's coffee video mentioned that the white paper filters actually have less paper taste than the brown recycled ones. It may have been James Hoffmann, but i can't remember for sure.
The irony of ignorance is amusing. Rinse your paper filter, with water containing acidic flouride, chlorine, chloride, copper, and small traces of lead, so that it will taste better? Gesh Brown paper and white paper are exactly the same starting out. Then one is soaked in peroxide (marketers call this "oxygen" so it doesnt sound as bad) or it is soaked in bleach (yikes). Why would you want a filter to be soaked in peroxide or bleach, simply so it can be a different color? Fact is, brown has no flavor. Adding peroxide or bleach surely effects the flavor in the white filters however. Pouring 200 degree water into plastic and or stainless steel drastically effects taste, but neither of those get brought up, only pre wetting paper?
I haven't found that. I'm in Las Vegas, we have terrible water. The trick is to go to the water store and use Alkaline Water. This makes a HUGE difference in taste.

This is a great demo - thank you! It answers all my questions and I’ve ordered one.
Awesome! I think you’ll love it 😊 thanks so much for your comment too.

Oh get real dude LOLOLOLOLOL.................I'm sure that was a great cup of coffee without doing all that bolony.
Just what I was looking for..simple to the point...
Thanks for the demo ; better than the company demo !
Excellent demonstration. I’m ordering this . Thank you so much.
thank you for the awesome review! I noticed behind the brewer you have a mocha pot and a drip coffee maker as well! well done!

Very nicely done. I use my oxo every day.
Glad I'm alone in the extra added "bonus" coffee. I do it all the time.

Thank you for the video, just bought mine today and needed some guidance 😊
awesome!! Anytime, it's such an easy little device :-)
See there ya go...........No snobbery here. No scales, no pre-wetting the filter, no timing. I'm sure that was a great cup of coffee.

great video, thank you
Great demo. Thanks.
Thanks James! Really appreciate the feedback.
Thx for the help :)
Ack! Rinse your paper filter!
Robert G lol. Well I can still taste paper either way!

- Kepha i find the irony of arrogance even more amusing. Your assumption that rinsing with tap or treated water is what I recommend is incorrect.
The comments on Amazon state their is s plastic taste. Anyone else had that problem?
Personally I have not experienced that.
