Yeah in the expanding universe it was pretty much common knowledge that Luke is the son of Darth Vader didn’t really effect the rebel alliance much they were mature about it and Luke is the hero of the rebellion and people would find out eventually so is no point of keeping secrets if he going to train new Jedi order. Compared to Disney canon that they keep vader secret but that huge mistake down the line.

It's also worth mentioning that Obi-Wan made decisions that led to the fall of the entire Jedi order, and by extension, the entire galaxy. He felt an inconceivable amount of guilt and shame, yet it only took a tiny bit of convincing before he was out of retirement and wanted to help again. Luke messed up with his nephew and made him and his friends angry, he reacted worse than Obi-Wan - despite Luke's character being all about hope.
Obi wan as shown in the OT and PT wasn’t under extreme amounts of guilt and shame, maybe survivor guilt, but he seemed to have come to term with his guilt toward anakin a long time ago and in epIV, just like at the end of epIII, he’s ready to do what needs be done. Reminder that at the end of epIII the last we see of him is him doing exactly what he needs to do in order to raise like to knighthood several years down the line, so of course he didn’t need much convincing

George Lucas himself fought for the idea that Jedi are supposed to be free of attachment…there’s even an explanation for why and how Luke brought Vader back to the light: not an example of attachment (passionate/possessive love) but rather compassion (selfless/universal love). The Jedi of the past didn’t fail Anakin by forcing him to relinquish attachment, ANAKIN failed by mistaking compassionate love with passionate possessive love. So Luke’s decision is not him failing to learn from them. It’s actually Star Wars remaining true to George Lucas’s idea of the jedi. In this way, legends was taking a complete creative liberty, one that George himself disapproved of. Happy to provide sources if anyone wants them!

Thank you for this video because I felt like in season 2 of the mandalorian kind of shows that Luke was going to do same thing in a certain way by saying to grogu that you either choose the lightsaber of Yoda or choose the armor plating of the mandalorian. At the same time though, the point many seem to forget is in Ep 4 Obi-Wan mentions how the Jedi were the protectors for 1,000 generations with the same rules... Only failed because they stopped following the Will of the Force and got too involved in the Republic. Meanwhile, Luke's Jedi Order can barely go a few years without falling apart, in multiple continuities apparently.
I hope they make Luke fall in love with Mara Jade and have her be killed by Ben solo when he betrays the Jedi to add more reason to like disappearing for so long

There is a reason why the New Jedi in Legends was so different and worked better (well, except that time the New Republic elected a former Imperial who exiled Luke and tried to do another Purge, but that is off topic). But they needed Mando Luke to end up as Jake Skywalker from the Sequels, so they laid the groundwork to fuck him up early.
This is EXACTLY the way it should of went and I've not even read any of the legends stuff, but this was what Canon was building towards if you watch the clone wars series and into Rebels, this was the journey the jedi were supposed to be headed towards. Filoni even said the prequel era jedj were flawed and basically coming into knowledge again. where Kanan Jarus encouraged attachment to Ezra and he himself had fallen in love AND had a child with Hera.

I know this video isn't an outline of the original order and to clarify, I am only referring to the Jedi order during the time before it fell to Order 66.

Luke's new Jedi Order was a bit different from the old Order, but this Disney Luke seemed like he just picked up where the old Order left off. That is the point Warp Zone was trying to make. They were really bashing the error Disney made in Luke's approach to rebuilding the Jedi Order.

George Lucas himself fought for the idea that Jedi are supposed to be free of attachment…there’s even an explanation for why and how Luke brought Vader back to the light: not an example of attachment (passionate/possessive love) but rather compassion (selfless/universal love). The Jedi of the past didn’t fail Anakin by forcing him to relinquish attachment, ANAKIN failed by mistaking compassionate love with passionate possessive love.
So Luke’s decision is not him failing to learn from them. It’s actually Star Wars remaining true to George Lucas’s idea of the jedi.
In this way, legends was taking a complete creative liberty, one that George himself disapproved of. Happy to provide sources if anyone wants them!

The Jedi Order died off in the Prequels because of the Jedi being Stoic Monks hence why Luke rebuilds a new Jedi Order 2.0 with his niece, son, and grand son because emotional attachments is what saved the Jedi Order.

This is EXACTLY the way it should of went and I've not even read any of the legends stuff, but this was what Canon was building towards if you watch the clone wars series and into Rebels, this was the journey the jedi were supposed to be headed towards. Filoni even said the prequel era jedj were flawed and basically coming into knowledge again. where Kanan Jarus encouraged attachment to Ezra and he himself had fallen in love AND had a child with Hera.
They Were Flawed, Qui-Gon was the purest example of what a Jedi Knight should be. A True Jedi follows the Will of the Force Not the Jedi Code.

Though do admit i do like the more updated storm trooper armor. it always irked me in legends that the storm trooper looked exactly the same even when going into the fel empire age centuries later. Least first order and mof gideon updated the storm troopers which again few things i liked about disney star wars but not much.
