Jamie, I'm big fan of your father, he was gem. Being a 80s born kid, I still remember, I was puzzled after seeing that how a English looking commentator speaks in hindi so fluently. After that I have seen him films and serials and because of his work my respect towards him increases many fold. He was the true Indian and I hope you achieve no less than him. Make him proud. Hello Jamie, I am half japanese half indian and i have a similar story to you. I lived in india from age 2 to about 5 in sarnath( UP) then me and my family went back to japan because my grandad from my mother's side passed away, I stayed in japan for another year until we went to australia for my brothers and sisters studies while i went to kindergarten there and made some friends. After exploring australia melbourne my brother went to america at age 15 to attend school and college in us and me my sister and mom went back to japan. I was in still in kindergarten and was finally reaching grade school but suddenly we had to pack our bags and go back to india because of 2011 earthquake (mag 9.1) in japan. We still only had a house UP but for educational reason my dad told me and my mom to stay in New Delhi, we didn't have a house their so my dad told us to live with our uncle while he purchased and build a house(Construction was done in 6 months) . I attended 1st and 2nd grade in japanese embassy school but our parents thought we needed to learn english so after a year of homeschooling and catching up me and my older sister went to pathways international for a year. But when we went on a trip to Mussoorie (UK) guess what we found Woodstock school, my sister enrolled a year before me and i enrolled for grade 5 and for the first time in my life i left my parents and attended boarding school *I WILL EDIT AND WRITE REST OF STORY LATER I HAVE A CLASS TO ATTEND* (I WROTE THIS I HURRY SO THERE MIGHT BE SOME GRAMMATICAL MISTAKE PLEASE DON"T MIND THAT)

I knew about your father and yourself from the internet. Mr. Tom was not only a great actor but an even greater human being. A true Indian just as you and I and everyone else is. I've followed Mr. Tom's movie line journey since he started. So many memorable movies and even more memorable roles he played that have already etched themselves in all our minds.

Actually, that there are many of us out there that don't know the history of India since the East India Company arrived in late 17th century. Those are the ones that adore when they see white skinned citizens but perplex themselves out of bounds when they hear them speaking Hindi or any other Indian language. They simply can't come to terms that India is truly a cultural potpourri and that unlike "New York" as the self-styled cultural capital of the world where none of the immigrants speak nothing else except American English, India has produced great people like Subhash Chandra Bose, Lala Lajpat Rai, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, Sir C V Raman, Homi Bhabha, Jim Corbett, Dilip Kumar, Tom Alter, to name just a few (pardon if I missed but the list is too long). So many varied personalities but all carrying the Indian nationality high and with pride on their heads.

However, justifying the position you're in to those that simply refuse to accept you does indeed sound bad. As long as you carry on your father's legacy and try to achieve new heights, we all would definitely be proud of you and your family's legacy.
