This was AMAZING! I flawless! Thank you!
I only had a few snags:
    1. Difficult finding the tork wrench that wasn't too low or too hight.
    2. Had to buy and cut studs for the exhaust manifold as well as stripped nut remover set. (SAVED ME).
    3. Still cant get my waterpump/power steering belt loosened since its rusted onto the block. (another day).
    4. Difficult finding the torque sequence for my gxe 1.8 engine since it didnt have 2 additional header bolts.
I had to buy lithium grease to coat the cams.
    SOMETHING WAAYYYYYY COOL!
THE ENGINE STARTED UP ON THE 1ST TRY AND PURRED LIKE A KITTEN.
SINCE MY CAR'S BATTERY HAD BE DISCONNECTED FOR A MONTH MY ECM (COMPUTER) LOST ITS MEMORY AND RESTARTED FRESH!
    1. two years ago my car stalled and had to jumper the "neutral position solenoid (ECM problem).
    2. two years ago my fans stopped working, causing 2 overheats....leading to the head gasket blowing and my head getting slightly warped.
SO I HAD to jumper the fan solenoid into into the fog lights so I could manually turn on the fans to cool my car down and keep the AC working.
    3. for the last three years I've been replacing emissions parts due to a p0340 & p1004 error..BASICALLY I COULDNT PASS EMISSIONS so I'd go every month just to fail.
************SINCE MY CAR WAS STARTED THE ECM IS WORKING GREAT, THE TWO JUMPERS COULD BE REMOVED, AND MY CHECK ENGINE CODES HAVE GONE AWAY!!!!!********
    I finally passed emissions.
SUGGESTION: if your having any of my symptoms try unplugging the battery for a week (if you have a second car) and see if the ecm starts working right.
your fans might work, and your code might go away.
ITS WAY BETTER THAN SPENDING $420 ON PARTS FOR EMISSIONS, $400 ON AN ECM, AND ANOTHER $250 ON THE HEAD GASKET.

I'm doing this job rn, used this video as reference. Found a faster way to get the intake bracket loose for head removal.
Rather than going through the wheel well to unbolt the intake bracket, you can remove the bolts at the top, from the bracket tothe back of the intake. There's one at the bottom of the intake on the passenger side, and 2 on the driver's side, one high and one low. Way easier than pulling a wheel and a wheel well shrowd

When i worked in the oil fields in south Arkansas keeping a gas engine oil field running was told
how to really keep head gaskets from blowing. get Key Graphite paste and after cleaning the head and block coat them
with the paste as well as the casket then assemble the head I have never had a blown head gasket since !!!!
When it com’s time for a valve job the head will come off with no trouble!!!!

I have the QG16DE engine that looks similar to the QG18DE, I forgot to close the radiator cap which led to alot of coolant loss which caused overheating and that led to a blown head gasket, I am gonna replace the head gasket tomorrow and I just wanna know if I can still drive it as hard as I used to before? The car was driven for 78k miles, will the car be the same as before blowing the original head gasket ?

use a torque wrench.otherwise you will run the risk of blowing the head gasket again.

7:26 that is not an OEM chain tensioner.....see the ridges on the shaft. so they either had a cam chain tensioner go bad or maybe an oil pump where they would have to take off the whole front timing cover

    • @robertmitchell6691
      @robertmitchell6691 3 года назад

@@amlnss9344 as with most aluminum heads, the bolts have a tensile factor to them. (called stretch bolts) they are considered trash and must be replaced each time a headgasket job is performed. their tensile aspects help to absorb the expansion and contraction irregularities between the cast iron (engine block) and aluminum (head). if you do not replace the bolts, the head gasket may fail prematurely.
