Time Break Chronicles for 8$ : is a jewel which many people do not know it, although the story of the game is not his strong point, it's multiple classes with a lot of skills, passives etc., and its 2 modes are what makes it shine.
I've been trying to decide what to buy from this sale so thanks for the video. I already own and have finished most of the AAA titles that's on sale, and a lot of the indie games as well. I may end up playing Chained Echoed.
Skald. It some sale and already not expensive. Overwhelmingly positive reviews. I’ll be picking it up myself was hoping you might cover it in the future
I've been playing Rogue Trader. Owlcat was stepping out of their comfort zone a little and it shows. Basically everything related to combat. Aside from that it's what I expect from them, which is all around excellent. As a nerd and not a critic it'll be fun checking out the updates for this one and seeing where they take things for their next game, what they learned, etc.
You really, really have to try Tactical Beach Wizards. It's only about 10% off, but it's terrific. There's a demo out that'll give you a pretty good idea of what the game is like.
I’m always just happy we have mortismal gaming for his no nonsense no shill reviews. Him and angryjoe, although completely different styles, always tell their opinions and you know they are sincere. Cheers
Good selection Mort. I've played most of those and enjoyed my time with them (waiting on a sale for Rogue Trader/Ruined King before investing), Colony ship had an interesting demo but wasn't to my liking. Enjoyed the Dimensionals demo, it's a party based roguelike RPG and has a lot of style and felt nice to play as a Slay the Spire enthusiast =)
Thanks for the recommendations, Mortym. As soon as the sale started, I bought Colony Ship and already finished first playthrough yesterday. A very good game, but I gotta say - I liked Age of Decadence more, because its setting, atmosphere and story were more "fresh", they had some mystique. In Colony Ship we have a pretty standard sci-fi, albeit on a ship. It didn't have all those crazy surprises like AoD did. Still, a great game, and if you play a pacifist/speech-oriented character - not a particularly difficult one, even if you play on Underdog difficulty like I did.
Thanks for another great video, lot's of games I'm itching to play. This is a bit off topic but i haven't seen you cover Mandragora yet, it should be right up your alley. They recently released a lengthy demo and i was pretty blown away by it.
I HIGHLY recommend Rogue Trader. It's much more polished now, spoken dialogue added over a great deal of it, and the people who made it clearly loved the Warhammer 40k universe given how meticulous they were in recreating it.
For those who like Sandbox SciFi RPGs and don't need fancy graphics : Star Traders : Frontiers is 50% off at 7,39€ It's a Roguelike/lite (closer to roguelike as the only things you carry over are achievement unlocks that provide more alternate starting options, not really power increases) where you play a new starship captain in a vast galaxy where you can either hunt pirates, be a pirate yourself, go exploring, become a scavanger, a spy, a trader or one of many other roles. There are some story missions but you are not forced to do them, some more side story missions you can randomly run into while traveling the galaxy but mostly randomly generated missions for different factions. There is both turn based space and ground combat (only 1 ship vs 1 ship and 4 crew vs 4 crew, no big battles) You have to manage your ship (repairs, fuel, upgrades, buying a new ship ect) and crew (on average 24 crewmembers with their own skills , traits and stuff who can be customized as you like )
I took a chance on Octopath Traveller 2, and I am pleasantly surprised! I'm only 8 hours in, but that's more than enough to know I'll be digging in for the full game.
Jagged Alliance 3 is 50% of as well. I haven't played it, but it's been on my wishlist for a while. I think I'm going to pick it up; I've heard really good things about it!
I always love when someone recommends Colony Ship and Age of Decadence. Such great games! It’s a pity that they didn’t get more attention, and we will probably never get Colony Ship 2 since the game did well, but not “well enough,” as the developer has said. They’re both amazing games.
Late seeing this video but i did pick up quite a lot myself. More known things: Blue Reflection (just the first game), World of Final Fantasy, Omega Quintet, Triangle Strategy, Undernauts: labyrinth of yomi, and Labyrinth of Zangetsu More Obscure things: Eliminage Gothic (basically wizardry-like dungeon crawl), Alder Forge (modern looking turn-based anime jrpg with that indie flair), Valthirian Arc: Hero School 2 (Basically School Tycoon with exploration using your managed students in turn-based battles), Flowstone Saga (RPG Tetris). And Super Obscure things that i found 2000+ games down in the fest's list: Manafinder (nice looking game with world exploration and battles resembling phantasy star iv), 8-Colors Star Guardian (game is made in 8 colors, power rangers turn-based rpg with megaman-like boss selection), and False Skies (FF Legends motif with a 30h+ story, full worlds to explore, and multiple tiers of class changes, its honestly insane for how little reviews it has).
Addendum: I know the game's been out for almost four years now, but having just finished Act 2 just last night? 20 bucks for Dragon Quest 11 is a fucking steal. I'm not even into the meat of the "postgame"/Act 3 yet and it's been one of the best RPG experiences I've had in a loooooong time.
Symphony of war has to be one of the best games I've played in years in that genre. it's like shining Force and triangle strategy it's really really good
Finally got around to playing King Arthur: A Knight's Tale, and that is 70% of currently which is a steal. I'm up to Act 3 and having a great time with it.
@@brianstanley1568 Comparing it to classic RPGs is what I just did. You also seem to be projecting what you like about classic RPGs (combat customization) to be what “most” other players like pretty baselessly. Even on that assumption, I don’t find that it odd that different from the typical classic RPG combat with its depth.
@@Dahkeus3 its pretty different. Even when you compare it directly to chrono trigger, it really lacks lot of equipment variety and elemental systems that Chrono Trigger had.
I keep eyeing the WH40k Rogue Trader & Pathfinder: WotR titles. Path of Achra is a great Roguelike for $7.49. The other ones I am eyeing are Rogue Waters ( new pirate roguelike ) and Gloomhaven is on sale, and a great game.
Tactics Ogre Reborn is. to me, the definitive version of the game and I'm old enough to have played them all as they released. A must play, decently hard, gem of the genre.
I loved Octopath traveller 1&2. Not a big fan of Ruined King but I'll try Triangle Strategy if you recommend it :) I would recommend Bloomtown, just released in september, a small gem kinda like Persona but closer to Sea of stars. Worth a try :)
Not really an RPG, but I’ve been enjoying Inkbound from this Steam Sale Event. It’s a turn-based roguelite with an isometric view. It’s reminds me of an old indie game called Transistor, funnily enough the hub area and storytelling also reminds me of Hades, both games being made by the same developer
I actually have Tactics Ogre Reborn, but still have yet to get into it (Massive game backlog). I'm looking forward to playing it, because it reminds me a ton of FF Tactics Advance, the game that got me into fantasy and rpgs.
Picked up warhammer rogue trader and pathfinder wrath of the righteous. Looking forward to playing these. A game u missed is Warhammer mechanicus. It's on sale and is a great one worth checking out. Wish warhammer battlesector were also on sale though.
I would also recommend Stolen Realm and Solasta: Crown of the Magister, especially the second one if you liked BG3, cause for me and my friends, at least, Solasta turned out to be even better, also comes with huge replay value not only for main campaings (there are 3 now), but also for hunderds of player made campaings, which can be downloaded right from the game. Also, if you like mods - it's the best place ever, consider installing Unfinished Business - one global mod from all of the moders for Solasta, it has everything in, basically, you will not need anything else, and it's a neverending work in progress, they always come up with something new. (updateble right through the mod menu itself) P. S. Stolen Realm is an easy to hop in old school tabletop fun, but with lots of loot ;D
I wish Ogre Battle March of the Black Queen was on steam.Since Realm of the Underdogs went away it is hard to find a version that works well on emulation without risking viruses or malware. But I wish SE would remake it. SE has their priorities/ focus on FF took much and needs to resurrect some of their older series or sell the IPS.

Finally got around to playing King Arthur: A Knight's Tale, and that is 70% of currently which is a steal. I'm up to Act 3 and having a great time with it.
One of my fave almost-an-RPGs ever just hit demo on Steam - Little Big Adventure (from 1994) - OK, no dice to roll or classes but it's still great fun
I also recommend Arco
It's probably the most underrated game I've ever played. The gameplay is very original and super fun.
I absolutely loved battlechasers so when Ruined King came out I was stoked. I love the style and feel, wish they would do more with those titles.
Thank you. I was trying to find something, but was lost.
Xcom EW with the ultra hard Long War Rebalance mid is the only game I got 1000+ hours in Stram.
Its just amazingly intricate and challenging and cool!
Some of these are actually on xbox gamepass, so there is that to consider.
Serious lack of *Silence of the Siren*. Just released into Early Access, best HoMM-like out there. Better than Songs of Conquest
Steam should contact you first before launching the highlights
Encased for about 4 bucks! Definitely worth a pick up
Sea of Stars should definitely be listed here. Top tier music, beautiful visual style, and a solid all around game.
Have you tried comparing it to classic RPGs? It's lacking what most RPG fans like about them: deep combat and customization.
@@brianstanley1568 I mean…yes. It is, indeed, a different game.
@@Dahkeus3 Nice that we can agree
I would add Age of Wonders 4 in that list. Although it's a 4x game, it has it's stuff related to RPG too. And on a discount too.
Chained Echoes is 30% one of my favorite jrpgs and just all around one of my favs. For $17 it's well worth it.
found someone doing a "100% review" - the clout is real
Is the thumbnail a game or just a generic image for the steam sale? 😅
I loved Octopath traveller 1&2. Not a big fan of Ruined King but I'll try Triangle Strategy if you recommend it :)
I would recommend Bloomtown, just released in september, a small gem kinda like Persona but closer to Sea of stars.
No mention to Banner Saga trilogy?
A staple for every fan of TRPGs
I actually have Tactics Ogre Reborn, but still have yet to get into it (Massive game backlog). I'm looking forward to playing it, because it reminds me a ton of FF Tactics Advance, the game that got me into fantasy and rpgs.
May I know what is the game shown at the wrap up section(7:27 onwards) of video?
Tangledeep is a fun game to pickup
Picked up warhammer rogue trader and pathfinder wrath of the righteous. Looking forward to playing these. A game u missed is Warhammer mechanicus. It's on sale and is a great one worth checking out. Wish warhammer battlesector were also on sale though.
You should look into Axial! It's very retro inspired but also has a command-deck build system. First game is free and the second is on sale!
Bought TS shortly after the sales began, awesome CRPG.
What game was being shown in the "Wrap Up" section? looked pretty.
(updateble right through the mod menu itself)
P. S. Stolen Realm is an easy to hop in old school tabletop fun, but with lots of loot ;D
I would recommend Troubleshooters: abandoned children.
Ash of Gods: Redemption is -70% and they just made really big and really good changes to the combat, so I'd highly recommend to check it out.
Awesome games to add to my collection.
I'm surprised at the lack of Jupiter Hell among top comments, that game is so fun and it's at 70% off
I wish Ogre Battle March of the Black Queen was on steam.Since Realm of the Underdogs went away it is hard to find a version that works well on emulation without risking viruses or malware. But I wish SE would remake it. SE has their priorities/ focus on FF took much and needs to resurrect some of their older series or sell the IPS.
