I literally was using 2 look OLL and knew algs for only 5 more OLL cases, After watching this, I learnt and practiced for 10 other cases...thanks a lot man, it was so helpful
To be honest, I did not think of this, and this, my friend, has earned you a sub! I am learning CFOP right now, and I only know like 4 OLL, 2 F2L algs, and like 4 PLL algs. This should help SO MUCH, all I need to do is learn the triggers.
Why didn;t I saw this beautiful tutorial before? Looked to the date 2018, You need an update friend or share this link more often, Thx very much for this one. Helped me a lot between all the 57 OLL and 21 PLL lol
Where did you derive that T-Perm from the regular F-Perm Algs? Do we have resources that simplify all the PLL cases like this? I definitely need one for the G-Perms.
I memorize algs in the most insanely boring basic, tedious way. I realize with time, what you've described here will definitely come into play and memorization will go faster, but for now, I'm still in the stages where those larger "chunks" haven't been fully programmed. Also, I think it's important not to just have those standard triggers memorized but also to understand how they move each cubie and be able to track that both while running the alg and also just sitting and imagining it in your mind. When I can do that, I'll let you know :D
@fire and ice nation the lost nation Whoa...2 years ago...wow. Yeah, I have full "basic bitch" CFOP down now. F2L, full OLL, and PLL. Haven't gotten into any alg subsets tho. But even with all of that, my times are atrocious. My PB is 20.19 but I generally average in the low 30s. Just goes to show knowing algs is only part of the equation. My cross skills are horrendous as are my F2L and recognition in general.
@cariyaputta Yowza! Haha, 5 years. Well, one thing I never mentioned is that I'm in my 40's and a single parent. So cubing can't always be a #1 priority. Doesn't exactly pay the bills. Still never learned any subsets, still just basic CFOP, still averaging around 20s but my PB is 12.67 now and I do get plenty of sub-20 solves. I just don't really have the time or ability to prioritize deeper studies to push past that barrier and get myself into solid sub-20 territory. I'd really have to go deep into F2L especially. I have this whole idea for how one could really tackle all alg sets and essentially master the cube (it's all memorization really - the more you memorize, the more "intuitive" it feels). But I simply don't have the coding knowledge to do it. Maybe someday.
Thank you chris .it was really helpful .becauseof this video ,i learnt full pll with theextra algs. And half of of winter variations in just an hour .thx again.looking forward in helpful videos like this .thx again
Super helpful! Thanks man! I knew most of these and stared at the sheet from my Gan air scratching my head. Just the explanation you gave helped me put the pieces together. I’m subbing this channel now fersure
I'm super glad to hear the audio issue is all fixed! Excellent video as always Chris! And I'm just saying, your sledges and hedges are so gosh darn smooth. Their quite fun to watch for some odd reason :)
Fun fact. T Perm and Jb Perm are the same alg, except you move the first 4 moves in T to the end of Jb Also, like cyo mentioned, there's a lot of overlap in some PLL. I don't know all of OLL yet, but as he mentioned, F and T have a lot in common. Y Perm and Na Perm have a lot of blocks of moves in common with T and Jb Ga and Gb are just mirrored versions of Gc and Gd for obvious reasons
I recently learned M2/OP for blindfold solving, and have done so many Y perms I forgot the other PLLs. So if I try to do an F perm, Ra perm, E perm, whatever, it just comes out as a Y perm lol. Thanks for reminding me how to do F perm :)
Could you make a video on the purpose of the trigger moves? Sexy move for example does the following: 1. Moves top right corner to bottom right corner. 2. Changing only that bottom corner on the bottom layer.
This kinda answered the question I submitted for the cubicle giveaway. Thanks for that. Now we just need to make sure that every tutorial in the future highlights these triggers and the connections between algorithms. Also somebody should take the time to order all algorithms by triggers so beginners have a chance to learn them in the most efficient order. On a side note: who else recognized, that the last few moves of the R2F2-G-Perm are exactly the same as the beginning of the T-Perm?
I can't imagine that many people have seen this specific pattern. As soon as I had found it, I adjusted my fingertricks accordingly. So now I am back in homegrip, when the T-Perm-part begins and I can use my normal fingertricks for it.
LukeyNubTeen i use muscle memory for those events. Just do it slowly while looking at the alg, then advance to doing it without lookong at the alg, then do it fast
For pyra there aren't many algs, and you can mostly figure out how they work Skewb: r' R/R' r and R' r/r' R and R B/B' R' and B R/R' B' Also sledges and hedges
this seems really good.. but i dont even think im at this level yet. I'm only just starting, I can solve a cube one way, and thats it. white cross method, then the bottom row, middle, etc etc. the way you learn on the most beginner of beginner websites. I want to learn algs and how to use them and how to solve a cube new and faster ways, but every time i try to look, the jump in difficulty from my level is like.. HUGE. Where is a good starting point from where im at?
first just learn F2L. You can learn from J perms tutorial, which is less then 10 minutes. Do a bunch of solves until you are comfortable with it. Learn to solve the cross on the bottom, and 2 - look OLL and 2 - Look PLL.
Thanks for the breakdown. I especially liked how you drew attention to how each of these triggers affect a specific corner and it provides a good framework for better understanding the cube. I've been away from cubing for a few years and I'm trying to relearn all of the OLL/PLLs atm and that's how I ran across your video. I know a lot of people recommend an alg a day kinda thing, but do you have recommendations on the best way to practice these triggers in the shorter term? Like, should I tackle one a day also, or do you think it's better to do all of them for like a minute each every day? I know this is kinda nit picky, but I'd love some feedback from a skilled cuber or two. Thanks! Great vid!
Cool video man, I do 2 look and was too intimidated/lazy to learn all the OLL and PLL but the way you explained it made it easier to learn to remember them
Why is that move called Hedge? Any meaning of it? (for memorizing easier.) It would be great if you can teach more of these conceptual tutorial for memorizing algs. Thank you so much ^^
hey Chris, when you do tutorials for algs, can you put this vid in the description and write the algs on screen like F (sexy) F' please. It's easier to read and better for beginners
Do you have any tips for f2l algs? I'm sub-15 (barely), and I want to start memorizing advanced f2l algs, like on Feliks's website and J Perm's vids, but I'm having a hard time memorizing them. Do you have suggestions or ideas to help?
As a 51 year old ROUXber, Thanks. I'm also curious as to the age of the average cuber watching these video's. Please reply with your age, whether general or specific...your choice.

No specific tips. Just learn the algs in the order you want and apply these tricks. It does help to learn them in groups though. All G perms, All R perms, J perms, etc.
Can we just call r U R’ U’ the THICC move?
lol😂😂
Yup
yes please

Awesome!!
Good job mate.
Same bro and i lerned also some plls
I need to learn the U case
You're so R U R' U'

Cornbicle i
ayyyyyyyyyyy
Watch OLLCP's music video (Derpy cuber and dgcubes.)
KIBUR Weird but clever
Who is Chris?
Chris is the cuber who use pink instead of red.
I know right! What I mean is that he use pink instead or red.
Wait what? He is colorblind?
Incipientium cubing really i didnt know wow
So its really pink, I thought its just a camera effect
DK Cuber Chris uses pink so he can easily pick out *his* cube
And because it’s so that if someone took his cube he could easily see if it’s his

The algorithm that I use for F perm is a bunch of sexy move variants with some cube rotations in between
Cyotheking:"triggers"
My friend:"TREGGEREDDD"
JESUS CHRIST, THANK YOU SO MUCH, THIS HELPED ME A LOT
I just keep doing it until it's in my muscle memory lol.
Smart
Same
Same
I also ask people test me if I'm right
Agreed I literally don’t know all the algs I am fast at. I forgot it but I just do it.
Nerd

Really happy that you are back like this. :) Had been waiting for these videos from you.
Where did you derive that T-Perm from the regular F-Perm Algs? Do we have resources that simplify all the PLL cases like this? I definitely need one for the G-Perms.
I did not realize there was a t perm in the f perm.its the only pll along with n perm that i dont know yet.
Sledgehammer is one word dangit
So is hedgeslammer
So is slammerhedge
So is Hedgersage
So is mergeslammgead

Ha, audio actually isn't fixed...I've had this filmed for about a month at my old place. I just wasn't sure if I wanted to post it
Oh, haha! Either way, the audio sounded perfect!
I know about R U R' U because of ZZCT research.
I know one ttll algorithm just in case I need it. You never know.

i already knew all the triggers but the video also teaches oll!
that’s great!
thanks chris!
You're video making style is awesome !!!
Hi there, can I ask a Question? Where I can buy Traxxas 50k that would deliver in the philippines? Thank you
Sexy Move with F' instead U' at the end is also pretty common i think
Yeah, like in the J perm I use: (R U R' F') (Sexy) (R' F R2) U' R' U'
Also the final part starts with a broken sledgehammer
Triggers for weird events tbat dont always use regular triggers? Like skewb, pyraminx, ect
LukeyNubTeen i use muscle memory for those events. Just do it slowly while looking at the alg, then advance to doing it without lookong at the alg, then do it fast
Emile Olivier what do you average on pyraminx and skewb?
I don't do other weird events so it's hard to say :/ I'm sure all events have common combo moves though.
For pyra there aren't many algs, and you can mostly figure out how they work
Skewb: r' R/R' r and R' r/r' R and R B/B' R' and B R/R' B'
Also sledges and hedges

Hey Chris I am learning cll right now but I am not able to drill some of the algs and they are not even having triggers.
Some algs can be difficult. But you can find other patterns. Lots of 2x2 algs are just taking a corner out and inserting it a new way.
At 5:24 that last R2 is actually an R’ (R prime) Two
What do you think is best to learn first? F2L, OLL, or PLL?
2 look oll and PLL first... Then intuitive F2L ..... Then 1 look PLL and advanced F2L..... you can do 1 look OLL
Nice question
Do you want me to add helpful links?
Aditya Prabhu I know I’m late but that would be very helpful for me
Ok
Just out of curiosity, what makes a trigger a trigger? Is there anything in particular that makes a set of a few moves count as a trigger?
Typically a set of moves that are very common.
Actually helped a lot, sadly i fifn't find a video that breaks down most algoritms into these triggers
Cool video man, I do 2 look and was too intimidated/lazy to learn all the OLL and PLL but the way you explained it made it easier to learn to remember them
This was extremely helpful. Thank you for this amazing video!!! Love your channel!❤️❤️❤️
I love centenario
How do you memorize triggers though, is there an easy way to do that?
I 100% guarantee that the video is playing while you are reading this
GASP!!!
Need this one for full please ?
Can that apply to other methods that don't use common triggers, like Roux?
It should, since CMLL will have algs similar to COLL. Patterns can be found in almost any alg.
Why is that move called Hedge? Any meaning of it? (for memorizing easier.)
It would be great if you can teach more of these conceptual tutorial for memorizing algs.
Thank you so much ^^
R R normal is sledge hammer and the inverse is hedge slammer for obvious reasons
This is very helpful since im in school still and trying to learn all the algs for f2l oll and pll
hey Chris, when you do tutorials for algs, can you put this vid in the description and write the algs on screen like F (sexy) F' please. It's easier to read and better for beginners

Could you possibly make a PDF with the simplified algs?
I actually never thought of doing that... Thanks a lot, now I can finally learn the OLLs.
Where did you learn to move a cube so fast
Thanks so so much.....this just made learning algorithms way easier....
what’s the name of of this cube

I think I heard somewhere online that the average age of cubers is 13-17, but don't quote me on that.
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH, I’m new to CFOP. Very helpful
problem, how do I get to the algs to practice
0:34 how did your cube not make a single sound

Whats this cube called?
Really helpful! I’m currently trying to learn EG-1. I hope to finish by my next competition. Thanks!

Woaj
Sean Villanueva {Roux} dude your fucking killing it , out there I respect the effort and work you put into it

I learned and memorized the Ra Perm in 15 seconds using that trick.

R U ?

Is it valk?(cube)
For the case at 6:47 I use the exact reverse of that alg
So, so, so, SO helpful. THANKS A TON!!!

I cut Algs up and learn sections at a time like I learn one and then I learn the next and put the 2 together
What is your PB
Even as a beginner I can definitely see how this would significantly increase alg memorization
This is the best tutorial 😭thanks !!!
This was super helpful. Thank you!
What rhymes with trigger
I'm trying to learn algs for solving F2L quickly, it takes me about 30 something seconds to do F2L and I need some fast algs, please reply with some useful algs if you have any, thx!

SJ Kyewber thank you
Cuberious thank you

Great! Finally I can do the F-Perm :) Does this apply to G-Perms and R-Perms as well?
Yea
Which cube are you using?
5:00 the first move is not r it's l
Really good video but question: how and what is best way to learn pll?
No specific tips. Just learn the algs in the order you want and apply these tricks.
It does help to learn them in groups though. All G perms, All R perms, J perms, etc.
Which cube is this?
What is that 3x3?
Thanks for your video I was learn just 10 new Oll algs...
How to improve my TPS?
What cube are you using?
I have a pink in my cube
And i cant solve it why?
Thank you so much, now i can do F perms since i mastered T perm
but have you mastered S perm?
7:48 imo *(sexy) (sledgehammer)* is much better for that case
That's a different case, if you look closely the corner at the front right is not oriented in the case shown in the video
How do you do U2 flicks?!
if you normally do one flick, you'd use your index finger. but for u2, you do one with your index finger, and again with your middle finger
how’d you get that logo on your gts?
