For the case at 2:30 I prefer the solution with the triple inverse sexy move. This gives you the opportunity to do the sledgehammer in the end and thus orient some edges.
Nothing beats Brody's videos. I love how he shows how a beginner f2l cuber would solve it and then shows how its meant to be done. My favorite cuber on RUclips!
I’m new to cubing! My first puzzle is a megaminx (what a weird start into cubing world 🤣); solve it with beginner method (it takes like 10 minutes 😒) Then I realize 3x3 is the key to master other challenging puzzles, especially F2L. Remember a ton of algs makes me so “angry” cause I’m very impatient 😂 so Thank you so much for the video, i now drop my time quite a lot.
THANK YOU! I've been searching the internet all over but nobody taught good. I knew Brody was THE great teacher, so I was so happy when you uploaded this video.
My weaknesses with f2l (or cfop in general) is that it doubles my time compared to using the beginner method and that really demotivates me from learning it, but I know if I keep going for a couple days I should see some improvement. I stuck with the beginner method for too long I think Edit: Just pb'd with cfop
Same with me when i used cfop for the first time, its normal, I used to solve with cfop with 1 minute and i can solve for 40 seconds with beginner's method, now i average 20-30 with cfop now
I used to do beginner method first and second then F2L last layer and I averaged 32 secs after learning F2L took me 1:30 secs then after a month I got under my old average. I’m so close to sub 20!
There's something else that I like to do from time to time with F2L, and it was actually showcased in one of Spotty's videos. Try solving F2L without using your normal solutions, because you could come across a more efficient solution by accident. You'll mostly get inefficient garbage, but sometimes, that light bulb comes on, and you just happen upon a new solution that you would have never found otherwise. I think that's a cool exercise, anyways. But sometimes, just knowing the best alg for a case is the best solution to the problem, especially these cases that you showed, Brody. And showing them in this high-quality way makes things that much more enjoyable, and that much easier to gain knowledge from. Please don't stop being awesome. :D
I really appreciate the information in this video. That said please leave out the incorrect/ inefficient ways of solving each case. I started cubing about two weeks ago and have have learned intuitive F2L and 4 look last layer, and my F2L is very slow/ inefficient. When I saw your video on some, I thought it was extremely interesting, but now I have been practicing all morning and every time I want to double check what you did in your video I have to find the case, ignore the incorrect examples and then try to connect the case with what you do for you solution. This is an extremely minor gripe but that gap between when you show the case to when you start the efficient solution has been bugging me all morning. Otherwise it was a great video the helped me think in different way about my F2L solutions
This is a super helpful video to get better at F2L. It targets the most annoying F2L cases with simple algs based largely on move sets you probably already know (sexy move, sledgehammer, etc.). Clearly demonstrated, right to the point. Thanks, BrodytheCuber!
When I got into cubing for the first time I thought that oll and pll are the challenging parts of cfop. Now, after a long break from the hobby and reconnecting with it recently, I have to say those are much easier than even solving the cross since it's just pattern recognition and immediate algorithm execution, a little challenging for pll but less challenging or at least on par with solving the cross as fast as possible, which also takes a lot of look ahead and having to also solve it with the least cube rotation and than when you get to f2l you'll need to know how to deal with all these numerous cases while also knowing how to insert from different angles while also knowing how to look ahead. I was but a child to think oll and pll are the hard parts.
Personal Time stamps 1:00 white sticker on top connected to edge piece (R U2 R') U' (insert pair) 1:53 corner on top of back-right and corner in opposite slot (R U R2 U' R) 2:51 white on top and edge below it incorrectly flipped (sexy move 3x) (pieces form checkerboard pattern before solving) 4:08 corner in slot white facing to side and edge lined up (sexy move)(insert pair) (corner color facing you is different than the edge color facing up) 4:48 corner in correct slot with white facing you and edge lined up (R U' R' U) (insert pair) 5:52 bro idek how to describe this one other algs that may be useful corner correctly inserted and edge is lined up U' (R' F R F') (R U R') (corner color facing you is the same as the edge color facing up)
2:54 You can do a U so the front color of the corner and edge is the same and sledgehammer with the hand where the edge is R’FRF’. If the edge is in the left LF’L’F. (Normal L is down and L’ is up)
I've been doing f2l for a couple weeks and improving all the time. I discovered the triple sexy by accident and actually in a different scenario also. If you have a 2nd layer piece in place and the corner above with white facing up (under the belief white is on bottom) then a triple sexy time will put that top cube into the bottom with the right orientation while pulling the 2nd layer out and putting it back.
I am not trying to flex I just thought I would let you know I actually managed to predicted how to do them efficiently intuitively. I think it is because I watched all the 20 minutes of his video. It is amazing I would recommend watching it.
3:24 actually the second option is technically longer because in the first option you do not need to do the last U ' as the pair is inserted in 11 moves while the second inserts the pair on the 12th move.
my weakness in f2l is finding a pair of pieces to insert. Also thank you so much for the last pair, i was really ineficcient at it wihout even knowing.
At 5:45, I think I invented a new alg for that case (at least I don't see anyone else using it). Hold corner in front right and edge at front, it goes: R2 U R' U R U2 R' U' R' Doesn't affect other slots and fewer moves. (And there's the mirror case as well)
BrodytheCuber There’s also another solution that works, but can hinder look ahead. From the position you showed us in the video, it’s (U2) R2 U2 R’ U’ R U’ R2.
BrodytheCuber I would be honored to be featured on your channel. Please credit my other channel instead: ruclips.net/channel/UCCM1-r79pgPDeBTpMAh2jaw I just made this channel and I want to give this RUclips cubing thing a shot. Thanks for inspiring me.
Hi Brody! For the last case, I actually prefer to do R U' R' without the U' at the beginning and then a U2, and then solve the case with a double sexy move. I think that is better and faster
For the last case that you showed, there is another algorithm. If you hold the cube with the slot you will insert the pair into on the right, and if there is no f2l pair on the left then you can put the pair that you will do on the top left and do the algorithm, L' U L R U R' U2. Then you insert. This also pairs the corner and edge.
My biggest weakness is handling F2L cases in the back left and back right esp. with respect to finger tricks. Literally no one address this on RUclips, this video included. They all only talk about the dead easy case of front left/right slots, or when they do talk about back slots, only do the cases with obvious finger tricks. No awkward cases are expounded upon.
Time stamps for me 0:58 white sticker top connected to edge on right 1:47 Corner back right edge front right 2:54 Edge in place corner on top white facing up 4:05 Corner in slot white to side, edge on right matching centre 4:48 Corner in slot white to front, edge on right matching centre 5:44 Difficult case, edge to right of corner white on top
that orients the corners differently, but the edges will have the same orientation. I actually mentioned triple sledge in my OLL skip F2L cases video: ruclips.net/video/ZgWixBhjJD4/видео.html
For the final case, I prefer to do a U from where you were holding the pair, then do an F’ (U’ L’ U L) F, then insert the pair, which is just F’, then left inverse sexy move, then F.
you know my biggest weakness in F2L is probably the fact that i have been doing it wrong for a while now. So now i really have to think about what im doing when im solving it efficiently
My biggest F2L weakness is the last pair. I'm not saying that I'm great with the first three, but I can usually get them pretty quickly and efficiently (for a non-pro), but that last pair? I'm always ending up rearranging, flipping, etc., just to try to get things into a good position and because it's the last pair and I don't have a lot of unsolved edges to play with, it often totally stalls my momentum.
Personally for the third case, I think doing inverse secy move is better, because if you do it only twice instead of three times, it pairs up the corner and the edge, which is better if you need to insert it into a different slot but still pair them up.

I’m not sure what you mean by weakness but I’ll just say trying to solve the pair into the back and ot regrouping or rotating as much
