We moved to rural SW France 4 years ago, England is a shithole now. Our roads are as you say, constantly being relaid, are super smooth and twisty, our villages are immaculate and beautiful, the health service is ridiculously fantastic and efficient... we do however pay a lot in social security for the privilege.
@ForensicDetailing you can't say that !!! Parts are I think, it's all down to not enough investment in education, especially now we are a service and financial services economy
Gtechiq W8 bug remover melts bugs off, it's the best I've used so far. Jon, bring some rinse-less wash with you next time (Armour detail supplies Hero or Labocosmetica Idrosave). I swear by it Rinse-less washes now, use the W8 and rinse-less in conjunction with each other and road trip with lots of bugs will be the thingof the past, alsoyou should have stopped at a jet wash to get the worst off. Also, for your leather repairs, try K.baggs in Poole, Dorset. Or even see if you can get a brand new seat base cover and seat back cover from BMW and a bag of bull nosed retaining clips and bull nosed clip plyers for the job and do it yourself! It's actually quite easy to replace those covers, see if you can buy new foam base and back rest too as they would have disintegrated by now. 👍
I basically done the same trip as yours back in June except I added 2 days at the Nurburgring. You really realise how bad our roads are once you get off the eurotunnel.

Out here we have normal ones too, i just exaggerated a little :) but sometimes there can be a LOT of them, that's the main problem, even in my city driving on the roads wich are a little outside of the city center (in the night mostly) i still catch some, not many but...THank god for Gyeon Mohs Evo, it's 10x more easy to remove them now after i installed it..
Jon it’s been over 30 years since I heard that reference to a cigarette (a Fag) .. When I heard the word from 2 tourists from the U.K. they told me it’s a cigarette. 👍
Having just returned from a Euro trip in a 996 and 986 (Nurburgring, Stuttgart & Reims), I couldn't agree more with your comments about driving standards, road surface and works. The UK is a disgrace in comparison.

well they have the fukapika spray wax waterless wash. would be great if they released a rinseless concentrate. Its all about the high dilution pure rinseless products like ONR. not heard anything though mate

we came back through the SW france montreux (ch) to dijon then the D996 north. its so clean. england is a SH now I agree.
