Good review! I’m currently saving to get a C5 Z06. Yes, the interior is cheap but that’s because the majority of the budget for C5 development went into the drivetrain.
Yes absolutely. We actually did a clip about that, but I messed up my wording and didn't use it. Gm wanted these to be affordable to get them into the hands of more people and saved some costs in the interior. If I were to buy another, as mentioned I would change out the head unit, the shifter and the steering wheel, and I would be completely happy with the interior. I currently have a zl1 1le, but I might be selling it off soon and will probably end up with a vette again. My next car will probably be either a c5z or c6z.
Its cheap but once you get in its really not that bad. Honestly all the info you get is unmatched from a lot of OEM cars. I have coolant temp, oil pressure, oil temp (where the miles would display), battery voltage and fuel in the cluster. Then RPM, MPH and another oil pressure in the HUD. You can change what displays where quite some bit to your liking. It might not be pretty and slick but its functional. The seats suck ass for any serious driving but they are somewhat comfy. The interior squeaks but only when you purposefully move and touch stuff like a car reviewer. When your cruising it doesn't make any noises like that and I havnt even owned the car with stock shocks so its stiffer/ I replaced the head unit and the speakers arent too bad. Its a great car.
Owned a 2004 Z06 CE/Z16. The interior is definitely the worst part of the experience. However, the C5Z was one of the best cars I've ever owned. I replaced the shifter with a C6 shifter and went to a 18" square wheel tire setup. Replacing the drivers seat is a must. I'm currently driving a C6Z, but still miss the C5Z...
Proud owner of an 04 silver Z. Got it for 17k 3 years ago with 58k miles. Ill never sell her! Now she makes 390 whp and runs like a clock! Edit: Competitive mode is when you hold it for 5 seconds, TC off is just the single click. Its counter intuitive. I have no idea why GM did that, especially in a car that is a real doctor killer.
It 100% is the best track car for the money, and it has been for the last 20 years, and will be for the foreseeable future. Perhaps forever. The level's this car can reach with sticky tires, suspension upgrades, and brakes (literally just pads, rotors, SS lines; the stock calipers are fine) is a very competitive, high tier, up there with Porsches and Ferrari's.
Wish I could find a descent one under 20k where I am at. Here in Texas, either most are highly modded or they want anywhere from 25k-40k depending miles. Even high mileage ones in the 133k with issues are being listed around 16k.
@@ThatTrackChannel I do. Been watching FB a lot lately. I’m in the market, prefer 20k or less. But yeah, most are overcharging for cars that have problems. Not even clean ones.
@SDG maybe this is out of your range, but it's in Texas, it's an 04 and has stupid low mileage. facebook.com/groups/corvettecommunity/permalink/3440300492874657/?mibextid=Nif5oz Obviously do your due diligence if you were interested. I know nothing about the seller etc.
I'm surprised to hear you look at the speedo on the track, I usually have to find out from onboard video later. I've raced against a few of these over the years, and I agree... they're an awesome platform.
Well I look at the heads up display lol. Same in my zl1, it's the handiest thing in the world. You can kind of decide if you are gonna have a good lap time or not based on straight away speeds etc.
I've been shopping for Corvettes since 2020 and I remember seeing these all over the place for $18-22k for very desirable NICE ones. The high mileage, but still in good shape were around 14k. Now you've gotta add almost 10k to these numbers. CRAZY
241 miles??? NO SHIT it wasn't under 30k. It's a 2004 car, finding something with less than 300 miles 20 years later is rare as hell. You're paying for that rarity. Not the car's performance. When he says 30k in the video he's talking 5-10k miles, not 200.
Thanks for the review. I’ve read that the C5 z06s are recommended needing to change the valve springs. I recently bought an 04 z06… is this replacement still true for the 04 or only the earlier models? Thanks. Be strong and courageous
Realize how much faster you go around the track to loose half your body weight? Nope you havent...loose it chubby...then stop asking so much out your car...more into your lack of driving skills
Bought a new 2004 Z06, way back when. Best car I have ever
owned and refuse to give it up!!
Ditto!
Serious people in the industry site the C5 Z06 as the first American car that Europe took seriously. It's a masterpiece! Thanks for the video!

Thats the same excuse they use for the Viper.

Taken my 04 C5Z to the track a few times. Planning another one soon. It's a lot of fun!
Such a blast on a racetrack!
Thank you Father In Heaven thank you 🎉

They are such a great car! I ended up buying a c6z this last year and I'm over the moon with it. C5s and c6s are definitely my favs.

Absolutely. They are still very relevant and very fast!
Love these cars
They are pretty awesome!
The base model hatchback tops out at 175 ,z06 tops out at 160 . Js

They do come up, are you watching the corvette groups on Facebook? Sometimes some nice stuff pops up.

@@ThatTrackChannel Thanks. Will check it out
Same here, I'm in Austin and having same issue. Facebook and autotrader seem to have lower prices and more selection

these cars aren’t under 20k they are pushing 30k now
Beat up ones are 😂
Yep paid 28k up here in canada last summer
Dude what? I've found plenty with less than 50k miles for 17-21k. I live in Austin Texas, if that makes a difference in your search results.
@Spyziy it's called exchange rate and mines a zo6
@@Spyziy If those numbers are real then I'm flying there and buying one.
I got lucky 2020 and picked z06 red on red with 11,800 miles for $22,000. I almost sold it for $35,000 I just couldn’t do it

who listens to the radio in a vette
I found an 03 with 241 miles. It wasn't 30k.

Z06... Small title, but big deal
Absolutely! Especially if you wanna go fast!
They are real weapons. True supercar killers.

Still change em, especially if they're yellow. Pac springs make great replacements. Do the valve stem seals at the same time.
See CorvetteForum C5 General stickied thread Build Date/VIN Analysis of LS6 Valve Spring Failures. 2004 is very safe but you do you.
That's a quarter panel in the back not a fender smh
seats.
Cobalt steering wheel 😂
Literally! Same head unit as the cavaliers and sunfires too.
Under 20k lmao maybe with 150k on it 😂
Stop being cheap ,put a t.v. screen in it 🤦
Interior is about as handsome as that jacket your wearing , or your appearance..talk about a pot calling the kettle black.😂😅
Wow, you're a nasty human being. I guess that makes you feel big, coming on line and shitting on people.
