Good question. I get this question alot and I didn't do one for a couple of reasons. The first one is due to living rural. The septic system I have is not designed for digesting plant solids. They do make a special disposal system that injects enzymes when the disposal is running but they are very expensive. The second reason is I don't have the electrical wires or switch run and would have to add all that in to make it work. The third reason is money. I got this sink on clearance and am a tight budget. I hope this answers your question! Thanks for watching!
I always found garbage disposals in american movies so strange. Didn't know they where actually a thing. Is this not super unhealthy for the enviroment?
I've done this before. A word of wisdom/convenience - put the faucet and soap dispenser as well as the drain flange on BEFORE you install the sink. That way you don't have to do all that work while contorting yourself under the cabinet.
I think not, it's much safer if you are doing the work alone to keep the sink as neat and light as possible. It's really not that much of work to add the faucet and soap dispenser after. But if you have some kind of support where the sink can rest with its accessories and you have help to position precisely the sink in place, one person above the sink, one person under it, that may save 3 minutes.
@@Chimel31a stainless sink doesn’t weigh that much. Beyond that, a faucet only weighs around 1-2lbs. It’s not like you are adding 50+lbs to the sink by installing your faucet first. I think you may be overthinking this.

You made this look so easy to do. I know this video was 3 years ago. We are thinking about doing it ourselves. I am not a plumber but I think I can do this. We just need to buy the sink and the tools for the job. I think we can do it with the help of youtube.
There’s hardly any plumbing involved. It’s just unscrewing things. And the sink is picking up an object and replacing it with another. Trick your brain into thinking it’s a mundane task and it will be. You got this!
I just wanted to say thank you for making this video. I used it to do my own sink replacement from an almost identical setup to a Kraus sink. I also removed a garbage disposal, which took up a ton of room under the sink since we never used it and from many things I've read, they're not great for the pipes, etc. I did end up using the optional plumber's putty - that stuff just keeps oozing out the top, but it's easy to scrape off the excess. Anyway, thanks again!

TJ great job on the installation & video! If you haven’t done it already work in more chrome accessories it will pull the room together. The deer will love it as well!
Nice, easy and clean. You should get a p-pipe with a drain at the bottom of the main vertical pipe, so you don't have to unscrew both sides to remove any plug of organic matter, only one screw at the bottom and the plug fells down by itself.

Nice job. I'd take the opportunity to replace those water shutoffs as well, especially if they are older non-ball type and prone to leak or not fully shutoff when closed. I'd also pull out the dishwasher and replace supply hose too (they can fail over time, being under pressure at all times). Might as well freshen it all up with new while it is pulled apart. Curious as to why you used black silicon and not clear.

That house was torn down 2 or 3 years ago, wish I could have grabbed the sink. It was an old sink but a solid sink. Instead I went with probably the same sink and faucet type. I assume you purchased this at Home Depot or Lowes? It arrives in 5 days. How does the sink hold up as far as flexing under weight...aka a sink full of dishes or temperature changes in the sink material from water?
Do you know the size of the cut-out in the counter? I have read that the cut-out for a cast iron sink is not big enough for a stainless steel sink. Very good video. Thanks
The original cast-iron sink looked great. Can buy new today as a pricey upgrade ~$1000. I prefer a 4-hole sink - faucet, dishwasher air-break, soap dispenser, hot-water dispenser.
Is shopping for the replacement sink as simple as measuring the dimensions of the hole once you’ve pulled the old sink out, or is there a way to get the specs before you pull the sink out?
One suggestion is to get that dishwasher drain line up as high as you can to make a "high loop" - this will prevent any clog from backing up into the dishwasher...
That right. You need to have that higher than the outlet connection. I must not have shown that. An easy way to do that is to zip tie the loop to one of the clips above to keep it from falling down. Thanks for you comment!
Do you know a sink brand for over-mounted sink that doesn't have the rails underneath? I bought an Elkay and I have a silestone countertop but the rails don't let seat properly.
