    I went to high school with Arelis and rode the bus with her brother. When we heard of her murder, us girls at the catholic school she went to were devastated! Arelis was 2 grades ahead of me. We weren't friends per se but she always smiled at me and said hello in the hallways when she saw me. She waa beautiful. Her brother was a funny, cute kid. It's been over 20 years and I think of her often. I watch a lot of true crime shows and often wondered when I might see her story featured. She was young and naive, didn't know the danger she was getting into. Misguided. My heart still breaks for her family, mom, dad, her lil brother. May they rest in peace😢

      @EvilIntentions  2 года назад +110

      Wow thats crazy. I could only imagine how surreal that whole time was. I remember hearing about this on the news and even as a kid being like wait, what? At the beginning of this video, I said this movie reminded of her story. The director wrote to me and confirmed if was indeed Arelis who inspired the subplot of that film. That movie always felt oddly real to me and I have friends who can say the same because we'd talk about this movie randomly. I grew up down the block from where this movie was shot (where the detective lives in the movie). Its just crazy to me that something that hit the hood so hard could be in a Hollywood film and go unnoticed. This story was very complicated. I feel for that entire family. My heart goes out to her father. I feel like she was dealing with so much as a young girl and it was a lot. This shouldn't have happened.

    I live in 151st and Riverside Drive. Lamar Sanchez used to chill in my building and cause trouble. I was born April of 1995 and my cousin went to school with him and her dad was friends with arelis dad. According to that night in October 20th. She let them in through the window and planned to have them plan to kill her dad when he got home but unfortunately they had other plans to take the money. She also had gone missing earlier that year for 3 days but she was in on it because her dad was too controlling and had his ways, she couldn’t even listen to rap music because he would control her, they were only allowed to sit in the sidewalk and the boys would hit on her from up the block. During the funeral, William was Bleeding from his ear and that’s how everyone knew that the killer was present at the funeral, all this could have been prevented had she not planned it and just had a better communication with her dad

I explain , talk with her about it and find middle ground and we move on from it. Kids understand more than we give them credit for. And yes sometimes kids don’t like their parents, but if you think back did you like your parents 24/7? @@EvilIntentions Will and I were friends from school. He was a sweet and funny boy. Kind. I don’t think I ever knew he had birds and trained them. Thank you for including details like that. It brought back a memory of the first time he came over our apartment. Mom and I bumped into him at Woolworth’s (I know!) around the pet area, which was mostly colorful little birds. I think he was killing time before he was to be picked up or something. Anyway, it was gonna be a while and my mom invited him to wait at our place. My parent’s household wasn’t that much different than his. We hung out and ate domino’s at my place a few times like that before we graduated 8th grade. I wouldn’t see him again until his wake a few months later. Que Dios lo tenga en su gloria🙏🏽✨

      @Jus this jus that hey I just saw your message. Only Arelis really knows if this was planned. However there grandmother who lived up the block as well as the aunt did say their dad was VERY strict. Arelis did spent time at her grandmother's house looking out the window. I guess watching the kids from the block outside enjoying themselves & she wasn't able to. Noone in her family actually wanted to believe that she would plan such a thing.

      Arelis was in high school and I was in elementary school when this happen. We weren't friends but I knew of them because my mom was bff w her grandmother. We all went to the same church St. Catherine of Genoa on 153st. But I will say this I cant imagine how depressing it was for her to be locked up in her house all day looking out a window watching all the kids (friends) from the block enjoying themselves and she couldn't for no actual reason. It wasn't like she was a bad kid. I get her dad was protecting her so maybe she wouldn't get pregnant or start hanging out w the wrong crowd. But damn to not be able to go outside and enjoy your youth. She was robbed of her freedom. I'm not trying to justify what she did was right either. It's just tragic all around.

    When I was in elementary science school my teacher told me about this story. The guy Lamar that did it was a student of her in elementary school and she told us the story as a warning to the girls. I have forever thought of this because I've lived in the neighborhood since 1997 and I randomly think about it from time to time. I never knew their names and always tried to find out info about it because of rumors that were told to me as I grew up from others whom knew the family. The fact that with the same money they stole they sent flowers to the mass for the funeral. That was something my mom always mentioned specially the things that happen with William Jr. and the flower. It really has always lived somewhere in my brain and today i decided to search google and find anything about it. When I did, I thought about sending this info to you just to find out you already had a video for it. Out of all the videos i've watched on your channel this was one I missed and one I remember of since i was 9 years old. Thanks for making this video.

    Wow😢 just discovered your amazing channel ….. so sad…. I always love to read upon your cases presented further to get more insight…. I was reading an article of an interview Arelis father gave where he doesn’t believe his daughter had anything to do with the robbery etc…. He also stated that it wasn’t possible that she was involved because he always checked that she was home…. But he failed to realise that Arelis would sneak out when he wasn’t there or when her mother was asleep…. He also fails to realise that there was no forced entry…. Also that she had run away for 3 days before this incident … sooo sad for her family 😢 it’s hard on parents who come from another country aiming to make a better life for their children in a land that is maybe far dangerous than your own…. And your children just don’t get it… that education is the way out of poverty for most…. And the company that you keep isn’t always good… parents who are too strict don’t do themselves or their children any favours…. I get why he was strict but …. It’s sooo sad…. My parent’s were soooo strict the same way… but I got my education and got out the right way and lived my life in safety …. Loving your channel …. Subscribed….🎉🎉🎉🎉

    I just looked into this case, and apparently, from what I read (I could be missing information), there is no concrete evidence that Arelis was involved. Only the confession of the killers. Unless they had the same story (not rehearsed), it's possible they were lying. Maybe to try to get shorter sentences. Arelis's father admitted he was strict and that they had issues. Maybe she did hate him. Was that enough to kill him? Maybe she just wanted to rob him with the help of the two guys to make it look like a random robbery. But then they decided they didn't want to split it with her. The father didn't believe she planned it (back in '95), but something like that can be very hard to accept. Sad story either way.

    • @Lola-rn2jj
      @Lola-rn2jj Год назад +8

      Or maybe her only wrongdoing was telling the bf of the money in passing as she's ranting about her father. Then that day, she just snuck the boyfriend in to hang out, as teenagers do sometimes (window), and he betrayed her (door). And the killers made the whole thing up.

    • @EvilIntentions
      @EvilIntentions  Год назад +18

      I've spoken to many people who knew her and its known she set this up. Hence the papers saying "SHE SET UP MURDER". Really wasn't a mystery at all. Just hard to accept for many. There were also many phone calls to the house that were unexplained and it was just the guys checking to see if he was home. It was planned for a little while. If anyone here wanted a better deal either one of them could've said the other pulled the trigger to get off lighter since there were no witnesses. Their stories added up with no communication between them and they admitted to pulling the triggers. Nothing could really get them a light sentence at that point so no reason to make that up. Them making this story up would only guarantee their guilt because then that means killing her was premeditated. At the end of the day these were two weirdos who did a heinous crime, not interrogation geniuses. She set this up and it went terribly wrong. Also crazy stories about that funeral and how her father acted while there but I would wait to speak to a few more people before I put that out there.
