My deepest sympathy for all that loss, loved ones, and friends. It's. a shame that people blamed the woman whom this so-called person was trying to kill. She was innocent, but people were to grief stricken to realize this. Peace and Love to all those who suffered from this cowardly act.
I attended a medical social class in the Bronx, BCC to be exact. I was taught by a medical professional, and he was brutally honest about what was happening. The Bronx is a medical testing ground amongst other testing studies. Most of the things done and medical statistics were and are being done purposely. 😢
NEVER thought 😢of it like that! 70s we was on Our Own...No One Cared about da BX😢 I was a kid that didn't know better than on TV 😢 yet Happiest Dayz my life ❤
I heard something similar about cook county hospital back on the day. So many people used as guinea pigs because it was a free hospital and families wouldn’t question their death on a surgical table.
I will never, ever forget that horrible fire. I worked in the So Bx my entire psychiatric nursing career as an RN, from 1/76 to 4/2010. After the fire, all our clinic's Social Workers and Caseworkers were deployed to a huge center to begin to help the grieving relatives. When they returned to Morrisania on Gerard Ave, the rest of the MH staff gave them as much support as we could. The common sadness they spoke of were the photos and pictures the relatives brought to the center to show their loved ones who perished in the fire. That was the overwhelming sadness those professionals were to take with them all the rest of their careers. And we who heard their testimony could help but be overwhelmed with the sadness. Jose, I hope you do an investigation of a social club I saw burning on 165th Street down around Sheridan Ave. I lived in the Executive Towers from '76-78. I was on the phone to my father when I saw the flames and smoke. I hung up with him and called the police who informed me that the fire trucks were on the way. I lived on the Grand Concourse and my apartment faced the opposite side. I could see down that hill and that fire. The story came out after that it was a social club fire with one way in and one way out. Overcrowding made escape impossible. I believe this was a case of arson also. So, even over a decade later these clubs were allowed to function in plain site. That fire had casualties also. As a matter of fact, a brother of five sisters lost in that fire became a psychiatric patient in my clinic. He was also in the fire and bore burns, severe emotional pain leading to depression and glue sniffing. A few years later, this lovely man died of his addiction. I hope you can find that story and bear witness to evil and the aftermath.
I've been binge watching your content lately and wanted to thank you for the time and effort you put into these stories. You do a great job humanizing the victims and painting a whole picture of their experiences. I hope you are able to keep expanding your platform and audience you deserve it. 🙏🏽
Such an immaculately detailed and thoroughly researched video! Your explanation of the history of the Bronx and the socioeconomic/political impact on black and brown people throughout the years combined with your compassionate insight is next level masterful! Quite impressive! Continue doing your superior work, please!
I remember how this tragedy was plastered all over the news back then I was 12 yrs old and would Watch the news with my mom. I resided on union Ave. Which is not that far from southern blvd. I was in such disbelief a person can have such a black heart to commit such a crime. Very saddened time in the Bronx. May they all that perished RIP.
Your channel is so underrated. I truly appreciate how you went into the history of the Bronx. I have so much more respect knowing this (unknown) history. My heart grieves for the families of those lost in those fires and the fire in 1990. Sending much love and support from Detroit!
So first and foremost I just found your channel and thanks Brother for all of your hard work and fine tuned and detailed research. Some of the best on RUclips. So I am of Honduran decent and have lived in the Bronx my entire life(46 years). I remember the morning after this horror at happy land. The phone would not stop ringing at my house. My mother and grandma crying and wailing with every call with another notice of another death or possible death. Lost many family members and friends of the family. Those memories never leave you. The sound of my mother crying. In my entire life I had only heard my mother crying twice. When her father died and that morning. Thank you for this tremendously detailed video. Please do keep up the excellent work.
I remember when the Bronx and Harlem looked like this!! And I remember that fire. Lived four blocks from that spot. The next day I walked passed the place and the stench of the fire was strong! The flowers and people outside crying. Devastating!!
Growing up in Tremont hearing about this story in part and now got to understand the full story of our Bronx history 💯 I really appreciate what you do look forward to seeing more
Wow, I loved this video! I grew up in the Bronx. I was living there during this time. I remember the fires, the blackout of 1977, the Son of Sam. It was crazy! With all the bad stuff going on, it was easy to forget about the history and culture the Bronx had. Thanks for sharing the history and culture as well as the crime stories.
Wow! I lived on 161 Tremont Av, your commentary actually brings me back to that time and the tragedy that was felt in my old neighborhood! I just came across your videos, excellent work!
I just found your channel and I must say, your commentary is so thorough and professional. You’ve kept my attention and I’ve already watched several videos. I grew up in the Bronx many moons ago which is why I’m interested in watching and sharing. The stories are heartbreaking but you demonstrate such compassion for the victims as you share their stories. I wish you much success and God bless.
My dad and family grew up in the bronx from the 60s-90s the stories they tell me is unbelievable the fires were a all out free for all. The electrical outage cause looting and the list goes on
RIP to every life lost on this channel. 🙏🏾 How can ANYONE from New York NOT fw you!? My grandfather was a cop who retired in 69’ his son in 07’, both precincts in the Bronx. So I’ve heard of most of the stories on your channel but never like this..your research is unparalleled to anything I’ve seen or heard and every story captivates me more. I hope the whole world discovers these ‘Evil Intentions’ -🗽💙
José, this is incredible. In less than 30 minutes you covered so much ground and did justice to the subject matter. This deserves a full length documentary - I hope that you end up with the opportunity to take this to HBO, PBS etc and expand it.
My brother the way the information unfolded and the history of the Bronx played out before my eyes gave me chills. You are an amazing storyteller and did the research. Thank you for this video and content.
Great video and I always wondered why in the 70’s there were so many abandoned buildings in the Bronx. Bc of all the apt. buildings, it looked like it was once a thriving city or burrow. I saw a movie called I think “Short Circuit” and it was about one of those old apt. building and the tenants were trying to fox up and save. But the owners wanted to torch for the insurance.
I was born in the Bronx before my parents moved us to CO. I still visit from time to time. They told us about Happyland. My mom was friends with someone who lost a relative in the fire. She said that family was never the same afterward and ended up moving out the Bronx. Just tragic all around. Thank you for shedding light on the Bronx and just tragedy in general.
As a life-long Bronxite until 2021, thank you for your unbiased history of my home boro. I remember Happy Land like it was yesterday. We've come a long, long way. May the Ancestors continue to bless the dearly departed.
I was waiting for your next upload! Wonderful job as always I love the humanity you bring to the city, it always feels like the majesty of new york is limited to the big bright lights but there is and always has been life here and the way you go over the history always feels so respectful thank you for all you do, these events most of them where before my time but it always feels so heart breaking to learn.
I have been binge watching your videos and shared it with my older son and my mom. That’s the Bronx i remembered in the 70’s. The Bronx has changed a lot today. Born and raised in the Bronx, but living in Connecticut now. I love how you cover stories I’ve seen in the newspapers, news, but in more details-especially the five boroughs. Just wanted to say thank you for the videos you put in your channel.
Wow, I always used to wonder walking thru the south Bronx back in the 90’s why it was so run down and had so many vacant lots, and now I know why. Now present time, you would never think areas like 149th or Tremont were dead zones back in the days. The Happy Land Memorial on Crotona Pkwy is so well kept and clean, with fresh flowers put out regularly. Julio was sentenced 6 days after I was born. RIP to all of the families involved.
I love this channel so much! My parents grew up in the Bronx in the early 80s and I can’t wait to ask my dad if he remembers these wild and heinous crimes
I am a 74 yo white woman from TN and just wanted to let you know I really enjoy and look forward to your broadcasts. Plus I love your calm pleasant voice. God bless you and yours young man.
I was born in the Tremont area and raised in the Wakefield area; moved out in 1988. My Dad was born in PR, was raised in Manhattan and the South Bronx; he used to tell me about how bad this area was and we used to drive to the South Bronx to visit relatives that still lived there. I remember this incident all too well. Was all over the news back then and really affected all of us that used to live in The Bronx. Thank you for sticking up for Lydia Feliciano; she was just as much of a victim as the 87 that perished. Keep up the good work.
AWESOME WORK 👌 BROTHER! Best one yet.. in my humble opinion. Keep Shedding light on these crimes.. especially the ones that affected our Latin & brown Brothers & Sister's and our communities the most! #BORIQUA 🇵🇷 POWER💯'!!!!
I just came across your channel today. I have been binge watching your videos for a couple of hours now. Your delivery is transparent, precise, and well-spoken. I'm loving your channel. The focus on New York is awesome!! Please keep up the excellent work.
Your channel is the reason I even know about the Garifuna people. You’re educating a person who is an avid reader and I truly appreciate your channel and content. It’s sad that people blamed a woman who was essentially targeted for domestic violence, the fact that he didn’t get to take her life like so many others do gave me a sense of relief but she still suffered because she lost friends and was victim blamed. My heart goes out to the victims, they only wanted to enjoy their lives on a night out with friends. Nobody ever thinks they’ll never make it back home after a night of fun.
As a Honduran/ Puerto Rican and Bronxite who grew up in this area, thank you for sharing this story. I learned about this story because I used to pass by the memorial often, and one year I noticed Honduran flags displayed around the memorial.
I think that you have a special gift for telling these stories that shouldn't be forgotten. Your content is quality and I love the way 💕 that you tell the history of the places that these events occurred.
Brother you truly educated me on the fall and rise of N.Y. Bronx. From the time that you stated what it's original name was which Native Indians had called it...To Hagen Dause Ice-cream being bought on horse and cart!! I WAS HOOKED. PLEASE KEEP UP THE FANTASTIC INDEPHT ON YOUR CHANNEL. BLESSED

Shout out from Chicago on another flawless video. So informative about the Bronx's history and the tragedy described there. RIP to all those inflicted.
Please continue your videos. Your attention to and in-depth research on stories that may have received little media attention or otherwise be forgotten with the passage of time are refreshing to a long time true crime fan that in some cases too young to have known about quite a few of your reported stories. Thank you for your hard work!
It’s crazy being so young so family couldn’t really explain to us what was going on and as adults it brought too much sadness to our elders so we never got the full story … this broke my heart but it also gave me some peace. This channel is so underrated
I love your videos. Thank you for covering this as I was hoping you would. My father would tell me about his story often when we passed the area. You’re coverage of the Bronx history means so much to and this story has never been told as well as you have told it. May those would Rest In Peace. 🤍
Thank you SO much for that. I truly appreciate it. I always want to represent the borough im discussing in the best way. I always knew this would be my longest video so I took a long while to make it right. I appreciate you!
If there's one thing that's absolutely EXHAUSTING on RUclips,it's reading comments from right-wing mouth-breathers who have never left their own state that "nEw yOrK iS dEaD" or a cesspool/dump/shithole/etc. Well, the first few minutes of this video give a solid explanation why so many places turned bad...places that could have been amazing. No one lives in a place like the Bronx,or the projects anywhere,by choice. You live where you can afford to. The borough was the birth of the "slumlord",and I don't know how those people live with themselves. Thank you for starting your videos with much-needed context. I'm a fan 👍
How sad the story and I know so true of it! I'm from Arizona but my first trip to New York I took a picture of the Bronx and all I got was a bunch of burned-out buildings, it was so sad and I couldn't figure out what was going on?! Needless to say I took lots of pictures of the area which sit in my photo album today and now I know exactly what happened to your beloved Bronx 😭
New to your channel been watching since yesterday. First time commenting. I remember this when it happened like it was yesterday and later on in life I moved two blocks away from the club every time the 19 bus would pass that tombstone I get teary eyed God bless the families and I remember in the news they were trying to blame the young lady because she survived 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I was at the memorial this past March. It's hard It's been 33 years since. I come from the Garifuna culture. This really hit my community. I remember that day as if it happened yesterday. I was 10/11 years old.
Just came across your channel. I like this you do an in-depth analysis of New York history. As a Philadelphian, I love the history that ny has . Went to New York twice in recent months, had a blast. You definitely have earned a subscription
As someone who grew up in the Bronx in the late 80’s, early 90’s I saw it during some bad times, I must say that the BX in some parts still looks the same it’s a shame! All other boroughs have gone through huge changes, gentrification is extremely important! The Bronx needs it!
The Bronx has changed a lot is the people that don’t change. It’s a shame yes . I used to live in the south Bronx when it was like world war 2 on how it looked like . Now it’s amazing how it’s different all these new buildings it’s nicer looking but still not safe .
From sarah liverpool uk .as a city who lost 97 people in 1989 via the Hillsborough devastation .our hearts go out to those who passed away and their families .heartbreaking .
This channel opened my eyes to a lot of issues within humanity for sure . Cases like these is one of the reasons criminal justice is of interest to me. To think , he allowed his emotions to not only take the lives of 87 people, but to also hugely impact the lives of their loved ones with their horrific passing. To know that your loved one was essentially trapped in a club fire with one way in , one way out…I cannot imagine. I also can’t imagine what grief the woman who he was targeting has lived with since she survived all of this. Reading the comments of people who were affected directly or indirectly by this tragedy is so heartbreaking.
The history before each case is effortlessly merged into the story. The history is detailed accurate and rich. I've learned so much culturally significant information. Thank you!
EXCEPTIONAL video! The intro with the history of the Bronx was top tier. And I had no idea that the initial target of his rage, his ex girlfriend escaped and survived the fire. Wow! You’re doing great work. Please keep up the content on NYC crime.
thank you this video was amazing all your videos are amazing. I remember I was about 6 when I heard what happened at happy land. I may my mother take me. I remember seeing all the firefighters.
Wow ....I remember when this happened...I was like 7 y/o when I lived on Park ave...wow my brother you are bringing back the old joints...God bless those ppl that passed in that social club
Seriously like I’ve partied/raved in some of the absolute sketchiest places. And I’m A LITTLE bit older now and nothing like this occurred to me until a warehouse rave burnt down in Oakland and it terrified me. I think all the time about the places I’ve partied and if one little spark coulda killed most of us. This is soo horrific man I hate this dude.

I never knew how much history the Bronx has
I've been binge watching your content lately and wanted to thank you for the time and effort you put into these stories. You do a great job humanizing the victims and painting a whole picture of their experiences. I hope you are able to keep expanding your platform and audience you deserve it. 🙏🏽
How to give money?
Such an immaculately detailed and thoroughly researched video! Your explanation of the history of the Bronx and the socioeconomic/political impact on black and brown people throughout the years combined with your compassionate insight is next level masterful! Quite impressive! Continue doing your superior work, please!
RIP to all gone but not forgotten.
I remember this so well I was 14 and a half that year that very sad
Crime my deepest condolences to the family.
The blaming of a woman for a man’s actions will never not upset me. I’m sure she felt enough guilt without others piling on.
It was stupid to blame her. It was his fault and his alone.
Bravo! Your channel is excellent! It’s not opinion based but a history lecture! Now THATS how it is done!
God Bless you n ur family.😢 RIP all those we lost 💔 🙏
I’m a BX girl forever!! I live in Texas now and I’m a proud Bronx girl! I’m never embarrassed by the story of the Bronx. ❤
That day a friend of my brothers and me he died that day in happyland I forever remember that dear friend in my heart💔 Richie😭
I remember when the Bronx and Harlem looked like this!! And I remember that fire. Lived four blocks from that spot. The next day I walked passed the place and the stench of the fire was strong! The flowers and people outside crying. Devastating!!
I was born and raised in the Bronx and I had no idea the history. Thank you so much for your teaching knowledge and wisdom.
Thank you for taking the time!
Growing up in Tremont hearing about this story in part and now got to understand the full story of our Bronx history 💯 I really appreciate what you do look forward to seeing more
Thank you so much! Im happy to be able to tell this story this way. May all the lives lost rest in peace.
Story telling was at an all time high on this one damn. Editing and music and empathy all high level. Great voice over work as well
Wow, I loved this video!
My farther was a musician and he was only 24 yrs old when he died in a club in the bronx the year 1977 , some guy started the fire
Wow! I lived on 161 Tremont Av, your commentary actually brings me back to that time and the tragedy that was felt in my old neighborhood! I just came across your videos, excellent work!
Thanks so much!
Never lived in New York, thank you for the history.
Thanks so much for the kind words! It really does mean a lot.
My dad and family grew up in the bronx from the 60s-90s the stories they tell me is unbelievable the fires were a all out free for all. The electrical outage cause looting and the list goes on
I liked how the story of the Bronx you presented in the beginning served to provide context to the eventual tragedy of the Happy Land fire.
RIP to every life lost on this channel. 🙏🏾
How can ANYONE from New York NOT fw you!? My grandfather was a cop who retired in 69’ his son in 07’, both precincts in the Bronx. So I’ve heard of most of the stories on your channel but never like this..your research is unparalleled to anything I’ve seen or heard and every story captivates me more. I hope the whole world discovers these ‘Evil Intentions’ -🗽💙
José, this is incredible. In less than 30 minutes you covered so much ground and did justice to the subject matter. This deserves a full length documentary - I hope that you end up with the opportunity to take this to HBO, PBS etc and expand it.
You are an amazing storyteller. Bless the algorithm for bringing me your work! You're one hell of an artist, friend.
I’m from CA but your stories of East Coast are so interesting.
Was waiting for this… thank you!! Keep up the great work 🙏🏼💙🗽
Im supposed to be cleaning my kitchen, but Im way too engrossed in this mini doc on the history of the Bronx.
I lived 2 blocks down from here, The Smell, I will NEVER FORGET. R.i.p To The 87!!!😢
I have been binge watching your videos and shared it with my older son and my mom.
Thank you for watching! Thanks to all of you, the message is able to spread, so I really appreciate the support!
I respect and admire your storytelling skill. You deserve to be on the big screen.
Nah, bro...
Ur intro was a master piece in journalism.
Peace an blessings, King!!
Thank you for that man! Trying to show awhole different side of new york
Show the world our truths, King!!
Que Dios te bendiga.
@Evil Intentions bro u need to do a legit Wild Cowboys episode.
Your reporting here gets an A plus from me...Keep UP the Good Work!
I love this channel. Being from the UK your lessons on the history and culture and the folks who live where these crimes are committed warms my heart.
Thank you so much! I'll be touching on the UK soon.
Oh that's great I can't wait.
I think that you have a special gift for telling these stories that shouldn't be forgotten. Your content is quality and I love the way 💕 that you tell the history of the places that these events occurred.
Man you are covering everything I remember from when I lived in the Bronx. Thank you for paying homage to the victims.
BLESSED
My Fam lived in The Bronx thru the late 50s into da 80's. I ❤️ da BX Unique Style n YES Alot of Ethnicity lived Together ❤️ WE stronger for it! BX 1Love 💯
I was 10 when this happened and it still crosses my mind from time to time 🙏🏾
Shout out from Chicago on another flawless video.
Wow, thank you so much for teaching New York history. I'm a southern girl and have never heard of most of these stories!
@@EvilIntentions My brothers and sister appreciate it 🥰‼️
If there's one thing that's absolutely EXHAUSTING on RUclips,it's reading comments from right-wing mouth-breathers who have never left their own state that "nEw yOrK iS dEaD" or a cesspool/dump/shithole/etc. I'm a fan 👍
Thank you for these great videos!!!The lost!! will not be forgotten!!!!! Rest In Peace!!! My Brothers & Sisters!❤️
I moved to the US from Jamaica and the Bronx in1977, I remember those days.
Thank you for covering a part of history that is often overlooked. Your efforts are appreciated and I look forward to seeing you succeed.
Remember this like it was yesterday.. Another VERY sad day in history for NYC.. Hope they are resting in peace...
Just came across your channel. I like this you do an in-depth analysis of New York history. As a Philadelphian, I love the history that ny has . Went to New York twice in recent months, had a blast. You definitely have earned a subscription
I love how you narrated this story
Thank you!
Thank you!
I literally love the little history lessons you give. It really sets the scene to the environment these crimes took place.
EXCEPTIONAL video! The intro with the history of the Bronx was top tier. And I had no idea that the initial target of his rage, his ex girlfriend escaped and survived the fire. Wow! You’re doing great work. Please keep up the content on NYC crime.
Fam... I remember this happening when I was a kid. SMH.. Still hits the same way, years later😪
RIP to those who lost their lives that night🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Dude, you're doing an amazing job. Keep em coming. I've been watching everything you put out. You have the viewers' attention for sure.
thank you this video was amazing all your videos are amazing. I remember I was about 6 when I heard what happened at happy land. I may my mother take me. I remember seeing all the firefighters.
Thank you SO much for the kind words! I have so much more coming your way. I appreciate you!
@@EvilIntentions no lie when I went to colombia I was still watching your videos on RUclips or tic tok at the pool e everyday
I loooove history and I like crime stories. You are awesome! Thank you for sharing your gift
Wow ....I remember when this happened...I was like 7 y/o when I lived on Park ave...wow my brother you are bringing back the old joints...God bless those ppl that passed in that social club
Your videos are top notch. The history, the compassion you show. Excellent.
The History is important to know! Respect that about this channel. Made me realize that things in the Bronx are better Today compared to back then!
