Great program! My questions are: Are international flights assigned by seniority? Can FA's only fly international flights or only domestic flights? Are FA's assigned the First Class Cabin by seniority? What are the requirements to be a purser on an international flight? Whew! Hope that's not too many questions! LOL! Have a good week. As always, take care and Happy Travels! ♥️🛫🗺
@@johnsymons76 So all flights are assigned by seniority, every month we bid/request the specific trips/flights we want to work and the system awards the trips by seniority within the company. So if you are senior enough to ONLY bid international and be awarded that then that's what you'll fly, for me being so junior I take what I can get lol. The same goes for positions on the plane, you bid for where you want to work and that's awarded by seniority. To be a purser you have to go through specific training which is something I want to do one day :) Thanks os much for watching and asking questions!
Hi Julia, There is so much bad news on lately it is always a pleasure to watch you for a few uplifting minutes. Love your positive attitude! Stay safe and well.
I was 10 years old when I had my first flight from Cleveland to Miami. I remember having a super crush on the flight attendant on that plane. I kept on asking her questions about the airplane until she handed me a pamphlet about a Boeing 727.
@JettingJulia has become my new way of totally relaxing. This channel is so cool & fun !. Julia & Luna are very personable :). All the food that you pack for a trip, I’m guessing sometimes you eat it all and sometimes you don’t. Still good to pack a lot :).
Thanks for taking the time to answer all the questions! As someone who works a desk job, it's fun to follow your adventures and learn more about the aviation industry. Glad you were able to find a job you love!
Hello Julia, I'm proud to say I've never had an issue with a flight crew, I've seen other passengers complain because of having to wait which I thought was stupid as there were up to 200 other passengers on the plane and everyone else being patient. Considering the number of people you have to deal with I feel the flight attendants to a phenomenal job!
Yes, you are so sweet and positive and I LOVE the interaction! The sky's the limit with this channel :) Enjoyed getting to know you more. Thanks for including my question (though am sure others may have asked. lol) Ohhh...I definitely had "air legs" after my trip to England (besides the jet lag). For about two days it felt like the ground was shaking :)
Thank you for answering my question! I love the fact that I’m minutes away from everything and it’s usually open 24/7 (this is the 3 major US city I’ve lived in and by far the easiest to be in)
Just came across your channel and I'm excited to watch more! I am very interested in becoming a flight attendant and love your positive, upbeat attitude about the industry. I do have a specific question tho, not sure if you have answered it in other videos, but how do you balance having a dog with a changing schedule?
Highly recommend the Alaska cruise, my wife and I did a week there in July, which is one of the best weather months. The best expedition was Whale watching tour, you can book those without using the ship trips. The sights and people in Alaska were the best. We booked our cruise out of Seattle and were able to spend a day there sightseeing as well before our flight home. Hope you are able to travel there soon!
Really enjoy your videos and the way you just be yourself. I can always tell when you are really tired after a long day, thanks for being yourself. And we also have started our own magnet collection on our frig. My wife, before we were married, worked on a cruise ship and collected magnets then. So I put them on the other side of the frig and put the ones we get together up front. Our 5 yr old likes your magnets also. My wife is a travel agent and guess where she has booked us a trip to.........Alaska cruise next June. You take care and again, thanks for the videos.
Hello Julia. Love your vids. I am from Asia and am quite familiar with the working conditions of FAs in Asia. I'm very interested to know different the working environment is for FAs in the US. So here are my questions: 1. Do the number of international long haul flights you are assigned depend on your seniority? I see you do more domestic flights than international. 2. Are you provided crew meals onboard all your domestic and international flights? 3. Do you read the announcements from the manual, or are you allowed to just say what you want (as long as it conveys the safety messages required by the airline)? 4. Did you have to seek approval from your company before you started vlogging? Are crew from your company encouraged to vlog? 5. How many aircraft types are you certified on? Is there a maximum number of aircraft types you are allowed to operate on any particular day or trip e.g. on a 2-3-2 pattern max 2 aircraft types. 6. Are crew who can speak a foreign language given extra allowances even if the flight he/she is on doesn't require a foreign language speaker? 7. Are there company rules on how you should do your hair and is it a requirement that you must have make up on when on duty? 8. On a 3 day trip, are you required to bring 3 sets of uniform? Or does the company pay for express laundry in the hotel? 9. Are crew required to pay for your ticket when commuting? 10. Do you get served meals and drinks like the other passengers when you are deadheading? Thanks and happy flying!
Wow Emmitt Smith, cool! Does turbulence scare you a lot still? Ive done my share of flying and I don't seem like something you can really get "used" to since it can always take you by surprise.
Just came across your channel, you do a great job with your videos. I like seeing the different cities you visit during your layovers. How do you deal with the different time zones on your layovers? I would think it would be hard to adjust when you return, especially after international flight.
Hi there, thank you for watching! Dealing with different time zones is really hard but luckily for me I've actually always been pretty good at adjusting to different time zones. I grew up traveling across the country for gymnastics competitions so travel is in my blood lol. After international flights I try to nap for a bit but stay up late enough to get back to a normal schedule!
Jetting Julia That was quick, thanks for replying so soon. I guess in the long run it’s worth it because you get to see the world doing the career you love. Can’t wait to see the next country you fly too.
Great Q&A; love the content. Along the Question of getting started that you answered; How did you learn to put videos together? Also what to film, does it take a long time to go through your footage to decide what to include?
I learned through trial and error, I use iMovie which is great. I was a journalism major in college so I have a little bit of film/editing background already. My BF also helped me edit a lot in the beginning too (he does computer science). I try to include as much as I can. Things I cut out are a lot of my "umms," pauses, bloopers, and brain freezes. Lol I still get VERY nervous every time I sit down in front of the camera and talk. One video from start to finish editing wise takes me 4-5 hours.
One of my newest neighbors, recently retired as a Flight Attendant for Delta in Georgia. She's never married, myself and neighbors have been helping her with her gated community new home experience. She bought a New Corvette too.
Hi Julia, thanks for answering all of our questions, I love how real you sound and all, stay the way you are, bless you! Ps. That was my question and the way you and Eric met is so cute, seems like in a cute romantic movie haha
One comment... I was recently on a flight with one of your competitors and I saw an FA have to get threatening with a passenger who was obviously drunk. He was going forward and ignoring the "occupied" sign for the forward lav. (B737-800) At about the fifth row, he finally got the message that if he continued, he would at best likely resemble a pretzel after she finished with him, and he turned around. The sad part is, when she was doing the last trash pickup just before landing, I told her what I'd observed. And, that I very much appreciated her efforts for the safety of everyone on board. The sad part is that she actually had to stop and think about what she had done! She then smiled, laughed, and thanked me. I took my first flight as a child back in 1965 (TWA IAD-LHR) when flying was a lot different. So, I've seen many changes. So, do you folks have to deal with drunks a lot? This FA seemed like she hardly got a compliment for doing something safety-related. Like what she'd done was an everyday thing! Or, that it's rare to be recognized for the safety role FA's have. As an inactive private pilot (thanks to getting hit by a drunk driver), I appreciate the safety responsibilities FA's have. Problem was, I didn't want to ask her name to contact the airline to give a thumbs-up. And, I couldn't get a good enough look at her name badge without seeming like a creep. So, when I called the customer service number of the airline to let them know was a super FA they have, all I could do was describe her. I hope she got the message. So, how likely is it that my compliment was relayed to her? Many thanks for a good "channel! Especially for keeping it positive!
Re: “difficult passengers” I’ve been on a flight where one of the passengers was rude to an FA while we were still at the gate, waiting to taxi. She lost it and talked back to him. I wish I could have given her a medal or something lol He was definitely out of line. I like to think that most passengers are ok though.
Most passengers are awesome! However, sometimes we do get those sometimes that we really wish we didn't have to bite our tongue lol. Thanks for watching!
Also as a aviation enthusiast I totally appreciate what you guys do, which is why I take off my headphones by the safety "speech" and actually pay attention to the fa instead of watching a show😜 thank you guys for keeping us safe!
Do you pay for your hotel and then they reimburse you using the receipt or do they reimburse you a total per diem that includes a hotel rate and food rate? If it’s the latter (per diem rate) then you can for sure accumulate points because they have no way to be aware of the fact that you are acquiring points.
The company pays for and sets up all of our hotel stays/transportation prior to our trips! So unfortunately there are very few ways for us to redeem hotel points.
