Thanks for the video! Love seeing montanas, they're up there on my shortlist of favorite stones. Thanks for the tip of using a large dop to get positioning and then replacing it with a small one! That's going to be super useful for me!

Nice job there Mike! Do you think that this Sunset Vista design would work for smaller sapphires? the rough that I just mined from Montana is about 1.2 crt. Thanks

Yes, I think the design will work for smaller Montana sapphires.

Prior to faceting, the surface was smooth & seemed polished - was it tumbled?

I believe that the mine owner did tumble these to make it easier to examine them.

Are there any gem faceting clubs near you? If so, they often have machines you can use.

Am I the only one seeing the interior flaws in this stone?

    • @mikesackos2208

Nope. This stone has some inclusions. I wish I could always find internally flawless gemstones..sigh....HEY...yesterday, I picked up three pieces of NATURAL Bixbite aka Red Beryl which came from the Wha Wha mountains of Utah....hint - when I cut this material, which is VERY RARE, it will also have inclusions. :-)
