Hi Josh, I am looking at your website and I can see that you have a lot of great deals, especially considering that I live in the UK and the prices are general higher. I also find the ' What we think' and ' Price trending' section really helpful ! I was just wondering if in terms of shipping it is worth it for UK customers. Thank you
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I have no problems with sponsored content, but full disclosure is mandatory. Did any money change hands for the content? Did the sponsor have any editorial control prior to publishing? Etc.
You guys are simply the gold standard of laptop reviewers. You focus on the little things and the user experience. And transparency like this further vindicates the work you guys do even further. Keep it up and never, ever change. Also, I know nobody is ever jazzed about ads, but I’m actually keen to see your Synology video because I’m an interested potential future buyer. To know that you guys use their products says a lot.
Influencers are not honest, that is why they are called influencers, they are advertisers. It is ridiculous that so many consumerists blindly accept that term without thought.
The level of professionalism, integrity and clear commitment to not being biased shows in the quality of reviews. The quality of the reviews and with well shot 'b' roll and engaging presenters makes watching content here a no-brainers.
Just remember to make sponsored videos clearly marked and announced. It has to be featured in the title and the first ten seconds of the video and not just in the description with a "btw" coming in the middle of the video. The Tech Chap lost me as a viewer for not doing the sponsorships in an ethical manner.
This is the best tech review channel on YT, and for one simple reason above all: no sponsored or "I have received this unit for review, but the opinions are only mine" hogwash bs.
I'd really appreciate transparency on how sponsors like manufacturers at CES change or influence the final video. Were there parts of the video you had to include due to a contract, or things you had to read off because you were sponsored?
Hey Josh, had an idea recently when watching Salem Techsperts - a lot of laptops are super awesome on the outside but are built really badly and a lot of things can break. Examples include Lenovo yoga power buttons or terrible hinge designs in a lot of laptops. I personally dropped my laptop (huawei matebook 14) from around 30cm high opened and the left hinge got detached from the plastic and it's a nightmare because glue doesn't hold it in long term. I think it would be awesome if you had some way to provide us the viewers with some tech repair person's view on the laptop or list some known durability problems on your website when they are found.
It looks like the Slim 7x. I remember that we did test video editing on that laptop. We wanted to see how the X Elite performs for it. I'd have to check the specific b-roll footage to be sure though
What do you think of the thinkpad t14 gen5 or t16 gen 3? You've done a lot of reviews on the yoga and the x1 carbon series, but I'm curious to know what your thoughts on these models are.
Hey Josh, why not allow PC accessories sponsorship or related.. especially for content creators... Like webcams, mouse, keyboard, productivity tools... It's fine for me and I understand that this channel needs to profit too.. so that you can continue doing honest laptop reviews. It's still a business anyway.
The problem with that is very few people buy PC accessories on regular basis compared to subscribing to a SaaS or installing a software or an extension. They'll be getting very little commission if they go with PC accessories sponsorship.
My gut is that it depends on what ones core skill set is. Mine is software development particularly consumer web/mobile. I was a Software Developer and then Product Manager in that space for around 20 years. For me, leading the build out of something like this comes very naturally. I also believe from a Product Management perspective there is great opportunity to deliver value in the space. Particularly as a hybrid of "what should you buy" and "how to get the best price on it".
Nothing odd about this video, on the contrary it should be welcomed by everyone. and on sponsored videos, nothing wrong with that, just inform the viewers and all should be good.
Searching for a laptop I often click on the links, but almost all of them are blocked by my add-on filter... I don't want to keep you out of the commission, and I don't want to search the product myself, but at the moment that what happens in real life. Good example is "Lenovo Slim Pro 7 14 - 2023" for 239$ - the link is blocked and could not find the item independently. Keep the good work !
The fact that you never did anything with honey yet still got scammed probably thousands of dollars do to how you make your revenue. Just gos to show how bad this scam is overall.
I have no objection with sponsored videos when they are advertised--I just don't watch them. Your channel is one of a dwindling number that provide non-sponsored content. Sadly, OEMs have cottoned on to paying for good reviews via sponsorship or affiliated links and in 2024, circa 90% of Windows laptop reviews were sponsored. Apple does not pay for YT ads, so we see reviews of their products dissected with targeting of anything that creators can flex on, and the creator horde all jumping on that. I understand you are running a business and will keep looking out for your non-sponsored videos. I suspect 2025 will be even worse for not being stuck with 10 minute ads as creators jump on the gravy train. I have found some good small creators and am switching to them.

This is the very reason we watch you, Josh. You truly are the gold standard for unbiased, genuine reviews.
Agree.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I have no problems with sponsored content, but full disclosure is mandatory. Did any money change hands for the content? Did the sponsor have any editorial control prior to publishing? Etc.
And should a business decline a sale to you when you could buy it cheaper with a competitor, by making you aware of that competitor deal? ;-)

Josh is honest and I feel comfortable with his recommendations. A lot of influencers are not that honest when promoting stuffs.
Influencers are not honest, that is why they are called influencers, they are advertisers. It is ridiculous that so many consumerists blindly accept that term without thought.
holy shit, I have never seen any youtube channel that holds their audience to this high of a regard. I bow down to you guys, thank you for your work.

This channel earned my loyalty a long time ago. I love being reminded that it was the right decision.
Cheers!
Man, I can't describe how much appreciate having somebody with this transparency and clarity of mind in the review space. Thank you Josh!
You got it!
It is good to see an honest tech review channel with an actual software engineer, not just tech enthusiasts. 😎
Just remember to make sponsored videos clearly marked and announced. It has to be featured in the title and the first ten seconds of the video and not just in the description with a "btw" coming in the middle of the video. thanks Josh for being an honest creator!
Not bad Josh not bad. That last sponsorship got me.
This should be the gold standard for tech reviewers. Keep up the good work! 👍

Keep up the good work Josh. I am subscribed and looking forward to your unbiased reviews. 🤝
You have iintegrity...something that a lot of RUclips Content Creators lack.
Glad I found your channel.
Love to see that synology content, and seeing similar like routers, IOT devices etc
I am really looking forward to the laptops from Lenovo, Asus, and Dell with latest chips at CES 2025. I can't wait. 😊
Thanks Josh and team for your honesty. Keep up the good work.
I love how open and honest Josh is!
Josh’s mother must be very proud for such a good son, happy new year josh
Josh you are the one in RUclips whom I can believe without thinking. Thanks a lot for your transperency and professionalism.

Thanks for the transparency Josh, much appreciated.

Josh has something most other techtubers and dare I say youtubers don't have - integrity.
Josh 🤜🤛GN
Hey, does anyone know which laptop Taylor used at 04:20? Is it the Slim 7x?
It looks like the Slim 7x. I remember that we did test video editing on that laptop. We wanted to see how the X Elite performs for it. I'd have to check the specific b-roll footage to be sure though
You’re rock solid dude. Respect ✊

Thanks Josh for being so honest, many creators should use you as n example of how to deal with sponsors! (Also bring your website to the UK)
I appreciate your transparency and integrity as always Josh. Good on you
that why i love to suggeest your videos to all my friend and family
I'm really surprised other youtube reviewers didn't make a deal site. Seems like a no-brainer. Also prefer that to in-video sponsorship

You and AMDtech are the most honest and transparent laptop reviewers in this Industry. Fantastic video.
thank you for your dedication and honesty
Only content creator that I trust!! Thank you
What Honey does is called "Cookie Stuffing" I can't say too much without getting 🤐
ur one of the few creators i trust josh. keep it up!!
Perfect timing with the honey situation 😀
Is it just me, or does the color in your video seem a bit off?
On the purple side? To me too a bit
Background has a lot of blue (and some low level red), but the skin tone looks ok on iPad. Maybe some reflected purple off the bg?
Is it also new that in order to subscribe to your channel I would need to pay a monthly fee? Why do I need to do that?
You do not need to pay. That's voluntary
Nothing odd about this video, on the contrary it should be welcomed by everyone. and on sponsored videos, nothing wrong with that, just inform the viewers and all should be good.

Is this the new spot? Background hasn't been changed?
It is the new office yes. We moved the set

tailscale works great with synology btw
We're not asking you to do this channel for free, so all good man
Absolute legends Josh and the team are!
Appreciated. Bought The M4 Pro 16' because of you guys.
Did none of these "tech companies" filled with tech enthusiasts, actually bother to check what Honey was doing, or how it works?
Pure greed got them.
Their only intent is to make money, they are advertisers (influencers). Decent/genuine youtubers are very rare.
Just Josh. Just Real. Just Do It.
Dude you're the best❤
This man is a legend
Great!👍
Honeystly I don't even care, I would still watch your channel
I liked the video for Josh's mom :D
I'm from India cannot buy those from your link
Totally fine. Good news is we are expanding to India end of this year
Building trust is challenging these days. Thank you for your clear explanation of the Honey saga... Here's to a brilliant 2025! 🍪☕
Honey about to bail out lmao
I almost fell out of my chair when you said at the end, “and now a word from our sponsor…”. 😅
people who promote honey did zero research. didnt ask questions how do they money. they blame honey for it. creator today only care about money.
Josh is setting the standards by example for youtubers.
What if the commission comes back to us (users, consumer) from some cash back websites? I’d prefer to use them.

Yeah i unsubbed from all the Linus channels, he knew and didnt do a video on it, so disingenuous...
Josh. Have my babies
Anyone who refers to themselves as an influencer, deserves to be scammed, as does anyone who is sucked in by influencers.
Finally, Mom is mentioned again!
Ok but hows your mum
