Description:
Well... we did it. I finally completed trade Tuesday season 2 by trading from a low-end Glarry Acoustic Guitar to a limited edition Custom Shop '58 Reissue Stratocaster. I find it funny, because season 1 ended with a '58 Reissue Les Paul and I didn't plan for that to happen this time! I hope this inspires you to give trading a try to get to your dream instrument!

Are you going to make a season 3 ?????
You should try one anonymously so it’s without the help of fans

Michael Nightingale ?
@Mailroom Clerk chill bro
@Mailroom Clerk As soon as I saw his claim to trade the EMGs for an LTD I knew he was either supported or paid out of his own pocket.
@Mailroom Clerk
Are you feeling a little salty because nobody on Reverb has ever fallen for one of your grifts?
I've just done a quick search on Ebay and found a couple of LTD EC-256es going for BIN prices of $250 or less.
Meanwhile, brand new Glenn Tipton pickups are selling at $199 from Musician's Friend.
This might all be BS, as you claim. But, just how confident are you that Trogly didn't offer these pickups for trade on a forum where Judas Priest is held in higher esteem than an almost entry-level Les Paul copy from LTD?
"A custom shop guitar but with a twist" hope it aint the neck this time...
HA
Good One Dan, I'd almost forgotten about the Les Paul Artisan!
underrated comment
that guitar was beautiful shame about the neck thought
And then the final trade: the custom shop for a bag of miracle legume seeds...
has nobody noticed this awesome office reference?
That story is a few centuries older than the Office.
@Eric Menig I didn't go to college, I just managed to learn something in elementary school.
If it was this easy to flip a cheap Guitar then everyone would do it. You got help from your fans
I think the more salient privilege is never being put in a position where the financial resources shouldn’t be allocated elsewhere in one’s life. Much more financial independence and the whole endeavor is kinda pointless, much less and you’d end up buying tires or something instead. A massive fan base of engaged enthusiasts certainly doesn’t hurt, but it didn’t seem like he took any outright advantage of them, or realized a deal any other person couldn’t have achieved with enough time and spare gear. But the reason everyone isn’t doing it is realistically it’s not a very practical way of buying an instrument. It’s more just an interesting challenge for someone who can and wants to. After all, the original “I traded a red paperclip for a house” only had Craigslist-no fan base or RUclips.
@@silverXnoise I think he did take advantage though. If you recall, in trade tuesday S1, he traded a cheapish vintage Kent Bass for a Schecter Synester Gates guitar. This was before inflation and those basses were maybe in the 100-$150 tops range on a good day while the Schecter is worth at least double I realize the kid was happy with the trade but maybe something else could've been thrown in to sweeten the deal. Also, Id like to add the the youtube presence certainly helped him. I remember it there is this famous youtuber who turned a coin or a toy into a house and his online presence made this possible.
Trading up are definitely possible though! I Traded a 2020 Fender Player Jag that I bought for $450 for a 2006 American Deluxe Strat in Honey Blonde plus $150 on my end this week. Came with a case and in mint condish too.
EDIT: Holy crap seeing these prices from back then is crazy!
you should sell all the final products and buy more $60 guitars and trade them
*STONKS*
he bout to crash the STONK market
lil kit kat but it’s already crashed
@@Noise_H why not crash it more
lil kit kat fair point
that is the most confusing trade process ever lol.
He has got to have some pity trades in there somewhere. Being a channel and all knowing people in the trade. But then again I know I watch locally. I'm waiting for that old lady that has no idea that the guitar her husband had in the closet was not just a fender guitar, but an old simple strat that sat in a case since the 60s. I know they're out there. Hahaha. Just one US strat God, Please ! And yes I'll give a 100 for the 50 bucks asking. Hahahahahaha
@@robertclarkguitar Yeah, he needs to get a White Board just to keep track of it all.
About finding a vintage guitar. 10 or so years ago, locally where I live (Northern Michigan) a friend of a co-worker purchased a beat up red Stratocaster at a garage sale for $80. He took it to Elderly Music in Lansing and found out it was an all original 1960 Stratocaster. Elderly's Music bought it from him for something like $20K plus a guitar they had in the store. Those kinds of guitars are still out there just waiting to be discovered.
Many of us thought he should have shared his good fortune with the lady who sold it to him, he did not though. I won't judge his decision, I only know what I would have done.
I would have kept that 1960 Stratocaster and left it at that!
@@hkguitar1984 I would have probably kept it as well. Unless a buyer showed the cash. I am very much the same. If I came into a lot of cash of an after sale I'd contact the owner and advise i had something for them. Just to share the glory. Then press on for more! Indeed many out there. Thanks man!
@@robertclarkguitar Glad we're on the same page about good fortune and sharing.
Side note about vintage guitars. I've seen many, many, many vintage instruments. What amazes me most about them are the wear patterns and all the crazy strange nicks and dings many have, if only they could tell their story.
That would be a good idea for a TV Program! Find something like a vintage guitar or car and try to tell it's complete story from the day it was built to present.
@@hkguitar1984 Ok glad I met you now. Hahahah. We think alike. Are you a strat guy? I love all guitars but really adore strats and teles ..I'm actually looking for a cheap LP to say I have them all. Well the basic 4. Tele. Strat. Super strat and now need LP. I'm still learning I think the 30 years drumming molded me into a strange song writer. Or jingle writer as I hardly finish anything just main parts. Hahah. Upload to my little channel in my camper. Stop by and say hi some time. Anyway. I love the same stuff more of a true relic respect over paid relic tho they would not be turned down...lol. peace
I wish I could turn a Gleary into a Les Paul standard...
No Kidding, me too.
Pretty amazing feat for sure.
you can, just takes a lot of time and effort. it's not impossible though
@@_mongomerritt Agreed.
@@_mongomerritt yeah I hear you. I think I wanna try and see what I can do. It would be fun. I never have luck even selling stuff, so I am sure trades will go better... Haha
@@jacksonwth281s2 I started buying/selling/trading back in February. Started by selling my friends squier mini strat for $85 and working my way up. 40 something guitars later, I just bought a $2000 Fender strat the other day. It's no custom shop strat, but it's the idea of putting in a lot of time and effort. It's easy to look at the end result and be overwhelmed because you don't see all the steps that are taken along the way. You can do it, good luck to you 👍
Do the trading without fans knowing it’s you to see if you can get the same outcome
Gotta give a nod to all the people who buy your guitars and pay a bit more than they might normally because they are supporting you and your channel! That's a huge part of your ability to make the trades and the sales and make the transition from shit to shine! The average citizen CAN do the trading up, but have to work much harder to make it happen.
Step One: Have Fans that you can trade stuff with
ZHANGIRKHAN TURISPAYEV never doubted how much there was in savings. But that “slight advantage” was all he needed to do that. Nobody could realistically trade like that in today’s world.
@@dizzysuspect3367 Not necessarily, it's entirely possible just would take more time is all.
Nolan Witty I agree you could do it. But his take on it consist of trading with several different fans of his. I’m talking in his instance.
@DizzySuspect how many times have you traded something? Because Austin does deals FOR A LIVING. The guy spends basically his whole day doing this stuff. He's got years and years of experience.
Not only you're COMPLETELY ignoring ANY experience needed for this kind of thing, but you're blaming it on his FANBASE. Something the guy earned for having a RUclips Channel for YEARS + posting like FUCKING CRAZY (Daily. not Weekly. DAILY)
ps: I don't have a fanbase, and yet I've already traded a pair of Seymour Duncans + some money on a 250W Hughes & Kettner Bass Amp. And the guy was SUPER happy about it.
Paulo Yamamoto what’re you talking about? I’m just saying the first things he traded he had fans who would easily help him out. Watch the video. My point was that it would be sick to see him trade with complete random people to see the journey. Don’t come in here 10 months later and try to start shit.
Obviously don’t burn yourself out, but I would love to see a 3rd season. So much fun to watch
I appreciate this being posted in the afternoon
Also looking forward to Season 3!
It's 1:33 AM here at the moment lol
Wow , the colour, anodised gaurd and that neck ! I would love that Strat ,it's gorgeous .
You’ve come such a long ways in the playing department, with this new-found drive I bet you’ll become an awesome player. I’ll surely follow your development with interest, as alway. God speed Trogly!!
Please Keep the Trade series alive.
Cool to hear the results broken down deal by deal.
Every guitar and/or bass player worth their salt wants to get better. One of my favorite bassists, Victor Wooten, has described his talent and ability as "limited". Just keep doing your thing!
Season 2 was like an episode of Lost!! What a ride, congrats and well done, it's an incredible journey.
Wow, great description.
That is THE most neatly packaged item I've ever seen. Kudos to that seller.
One of my favorite parts of your goofy little show is watching you improve your playing. Keep rockin Trogly!
I have an EC-10 i bought from a flea market for 20 bucks. The volume pot was shot, but that obviously was an easy fix. I freaking love how it sounds honestly, best 20 bucks of my life
Im very exited for the long awaited make progress mondays! I just hope it wont affect how often you upload the unboxing vlogs and reviews. But i bet it wont because we are basically trading trade tuseday for monday learning days.
Congrats Austin, you may be on your way to becoming an internet legend because I've never heard of anyone trading up so successfully as yourself.
Very cool Stratocaster too.
Love the idea about getting better at playing guitar, count me on-board for that too.
That neck is beyond anything I’ve ever imagined
I love it to be honest, I have an acoustic with a similar pattern on the body and it's beautiful.
Man I can’t wait for the new Monday thing. Love the videos, been a fan for awhile and proud to be a Troglodyte!!!!!! Great job.....
Well done! It was a fun season to follow along.
Hey trogly for season 3 you should go for some sort of vintage guitar. Start off with a classical guitar maybe?
Got 2 58 reissue in my cheap squire with the gotoh style floyd. And a JB in bridge HSS.Some paint and will be sweet.I love the way they feel and play for a cheap 169$,Just swapped pickups and that was it.NEVER goes out of tune EVER.20 years old so it is naturally relic. My favorite guitar.
Nice bit of hustling this year.
What a beautiful 💓 piece of art. Custom shop guitars are amazing. Thanks for doing this series. Look forward to the full demo!!
Yo Trogly! I have been watching for a while now and I can tell you that whatever practicing you have been doing shows. In a past episode you did a cool descending rockabilly run from the high E to the low E. It inspired me to figure it out! Looking forward to the new Monday episodes and keep up the great vids!
+1 Gregory, he has improved and his demos reflect it too.
Love your show, long time viewer, keep up the good work
Super cool guitar. Sounds awesome. Well done Trogly!
Great series! Great outcome too! Just became a subscriber under a year ago and I really appreciate the show and what goes into it.
Lotsa’ snark & jangle with that sweet haul. Great series! Thanks for putting it out there, fun to watch and awesome “how to” tips to try. Happy Holidays Austin!
Trog, you're the man. Good luck on the improving playing and killer explanations on trading up.
Excellent series finale! Sad to see it go, but you not only proved you could do it, but that you could do it twice! If I wore a hat It would be off in your honor.
This video was very enjoyable Austin. I loved the trading and ending up with that beautiful Fender, great job!
When you had the two.. The new ones I was the guy who started the idea to swap necks... This looks so close to one of those iterations.. Deeeecent!!!
Patience is a virtue. This is exactly what I do but I started with antique sewing machines. I made enough to purchase every guitar I have, over time, of course. I'm slowly getting a feel for the guitar market but doing okay.
Trogly....its yur call but....i FREAKIN love the "trade tuesday"...its one of the funnest things on youube....rock on my brother!!!
I saw a video of a kid who started his Craigslist trading with a Nokia candy bar phone and ended up with a Porsche Boxer 👍
Soudns good Trogly! Excited to see you get better as the demos go on!
Amazing. Would have preferred the Native Sons strap over the Levy’s. Excellent straps, Buckethead uses the stretchy kind.
this right here is called talent my friends
Agustín Vidal well I guess I’m a genius then.
This is my everyday all day with musical equipment. Then I drive a semi truck 11 hours a day on the phone and Craigslist making moves
taking small money items and trading up for very expensive nice things.
It takes time but the out come is awesome.
Youthman Production congrats mate :))
Agustín Vidal thanks kind sir. I traded a korean made Epiphone galaxy 25 tube amp ,
a rode nt-2 large condenser microphone ,
and a Washburn Oscar Schmidt delta king semi hollow body (es-335) style guitar
(About three hundred dollars used value)
for a 1998 Isuzu hombre pickup truck
Holy cow that thing is beautiful. I've seen a similar model to this before (Gold finish, White Pearloid Pickguard, Rosewood fretboard, birdseye maple and gold hardware) and i absolutely fell in love with it, the thing was so beautiful i even thought it had matching headstock, but it was just the birdseye being absolutely insane on it. Thats a keeper, congrats.
Great end of trade series!! I'll miss it. Love your vids and how You 've improved it in last 2 years 👏👏
Is this guitar for sale or does it go into your private collection
ive ben watching you get better al playing and its something i enjoy! im so glad that your doing a series wear we can all join in and be a part of things!
you should do the next series on a new account on reverb, make it a challenge i want to know if people who aren’t trogly could do this type of thing
Beautiful Strat, Congratulations! The work was worth the payoff.
Love your channel, Austin! Keep up the good work and great content
I'm behind your new series! Great idea, never stop learning!
Will be hitting that bell!
Ah, the same copper color that they put on the 1952 reissue Telecasters from the late 90's! Good stuff.
That is gorgeous. I recently got a Copper Top Les Paul classic and that would fit along side it perfectly
R.I.P. trade tuesday...you will be missed but never forgotten!!
Where the hell do you trade instruments at!?
Agreed the neck on that thing is stunning , really cool!
You are a very clever. and astute man Austin, it’s amazing what you have done. I know I couldn’t do it, love the custom shop Stratocaster too.
Lovely strat pal, I'd love to do a trade up thing myself, really goes to show if you haven't got thousands to spend on a guitar then you can still achieve your dreams 😀
Do you think you could buy several cheap guitars then trade them all up to custom shops at the same time? And then sell those and buy even more cheap guitars and trade them all up and so on and so forth?
CONGRATULATIONS !
Your demo playing is making good progress.too
Not a fan of that color pickguard with that body finish, but that neck is _definitely_ a stunner. I'd replace the pickguard for a black one, and seeing how that looks with the white pickup covers and knobs (it doesn't happen too often, but sometimes the white pickups and knobs on a black guard can look killer). Then replacing the covers and knobs with black ones if the whites don't look good. A black pearl pickguard might even work with the copper finish, even though I generally don't care for the black pearl stuff. Especially if it's a black pearl one that "ranges" in color from black to dark gray, instead of black to white / very light gray.
Season 2 title : RIP Glarry
And very very beautiful strat ! Congratulations
I think season 2 was a bit complex, some items were splitted too much in very small pieces. But i still enjoy the concept
Oh no! I need a season 3
Awsome, r u going to do another season?? Also in the end you basically paid 60 bucks for a custom shop! Nice!
I am weird, but I would prefer the Danelectros over the custom shop Fender?
The 66T was a nice guitar
Sooo hyped for the new series
Also great Fender, love the back of the neck
This man: trades from glary to gibson
The economy: "am I a joke to you"
You are making me want to try and do a number of trades too. Super cool - please do season 3!
This is the Guitar oriented Content ive been needing. TY
This is such a cool show! I’ve been wanting to do the same, any tips or tricks you know? I’d think patience is a big thing.
I liked the look of the bridge pickup on the Electra, have been searching for a decent sounding pickup that looks similar. But i´m left with the thought that Trade Tuesday can still go upwards in terms of gear acquired, it can always go upwards if one looks hard enough...
Way to go, Austin!! Good job!!
i like the new concept, at least enough to give it a chance
I watched your whole series on playlists. A friend of mine has this exact guitar the custom shop fender! He sold a 1981 trans Am so he can afford to buy it and have a little bit of leftover$. .
I love it I can not wait for season 3 of trade Tuesday one of my favorite RUclips shows thanks for the content man keep up the good work
All those late 90s 58 reissues had that same birds eye flame maple necks.
Funny thing. Billie Joe Armstrong had two of these in the late 90s as his e tuned guitar and its backup. Both were blue replicas of his blue Fernandes rst 80 57. With a Duncan jb in the bridge position. One of them had a lefty bridge like an S.R.V. strat.
I’ve noticed your playing getting better. Enjoy the channel very much.
I think you've progressed a lot in the past year in your playing. Not that you were bad, I always enjoyed your demos.
Nice Strat bro! I've been subbed to you for a while now and I can tell already getting better at playing!!
You've actually gotten a lot better at guitar. I come here for the history lessons and the wacky shit you dig up! This was incredible. How you manage this, I'll never know. Beautiful neck, sounds awesome. I hope one day you get an Electra Outlaw to keep. That guitar is so you
After a stressful end to my culinary basics class, im very thankful you uploaded this. Trade Tuesday is one of my favorites.
Custom shop Stratocaster $60
Getting a three year old to write out your chart= priceless
I turned a line 6 amplifi amp into a les paul standard in 4 trades on kijiji. Amplifi - korean made dean ml79 - schecter blackjack sls c1 fr sustainiac - gretsch country gentleman- gibson les paul standard.
I think the progress monday idea is a great idea. Can't wait to see how it turns out
Great show..just got myself an 89 fender strat pewter
In high school (2004ish) I traded a guy a squire strat and Fender frontman amp (was basically a $150 package new) for a black 1983 USA strat with maple neck. It was missing the bridge piece for the low E string which was impossible to find but still.
People have on that era strat, but they aren’t bad, just different (at least that’s my experience). And I’ve had custom shops
Daaamn yo that's smart. I gotta get into trading
Wow that neck of the fender custom is beautiful
I do very similar trading. Usually I don’t have a outcome goal. I just keep it going until I get really good stuff. Then that thread ends and I begin a new journey. Buy or trade for something cheap and raise the stakes every time until the conclusion.
Great channel and great video ! Do some more musical equipment bartering videos please
You gotta get more jazzmasters and jaguars on the show!! That’d be awesome!!
Strong work... fun video to watch. Great editing. Thx.
Well Done Sir!!!👍👍 A beautiful choice, can't go wrong with a nice Strat 😁
It's a beautiful strat Austin
I have a super early Eric Clapton stratocaster from late 89' by the numbers.....I bought from Stratoverse a few years back......need to find a period correct neck....has a Fender replacement on it.....and looking for electronics.....but might trade it for a Tele.......after all I have 3 tuxedo stratocaster's...lol
I managed to trade a kit tele ( well made ) for an old original hollow body floating tremelo artcore guitar, which I swapped for an old original fender deluxe amp . ! From 160 to at least 800 worth / au dollars. Cheers
Should I try this with one of my throwaway guitars🤔
Cant hurt dude. I turned a epiphone les paul special 2 into an ibanez prestige. Totally worth it.
that’s cool, baker’s channel is awesome. That sounds like the best part of the trade
Go for it, Trogly, you can become better, you can do it. I wish you luck!!
