  • This is the second of 2 weeks we spent at the 24 hours of LeMans 2023.
    Its a behind the scenes of the day to day job we do as race mechanics building, preparing and making sure the car keeps racing. Luck wasn't with us this race and we had a big crash early on that put us out of the race.

    This must be the most realistic motorsport channel out there! Really enjoying it!

    It absolutely blows my mind how frequently and thoroughly you guys tear this car down. I self-support my own Huracan GT3 Evo and each one of these jobs you guys make look routine are massive undertakings for me. Just getting access to the fuel cell, getting all the foam and pumps out is an ordeal on its own and you guys do it no problem. I should hire you lol.

      Ahh nice that's cool. Nice cars they are, where do you race it? It may be routine work but some of the jobs still are a big ordeal but as we do it so much we just crack on I guess 😂

    Ouch all those new parts for the race only to have them ... well enough said. Just amazing the amount of work required and must say what a great bunch of people to work with. Was a tough one to watch knowing the outcome of the race. I was shocked to see the extent of the damage. Anyway thanks for the videos and at least I got the nuts guess right.

      Yeah not ideal loosing all them new parts. It's a big job running these cars but like you said a great bunch of people to work with.
      Sweet chilli was always going to win it 😂

    Massive bummer to see it on TV when it happened and the damage looks even more violent up close! Unfortunately, C'est la vie. It's the beauty of the beast that is Le Mans!
    If there is any good news, my plans for the spa 24hrs fell through so if all goes well, i should be going to Spa for the ELMS race this year. If i arrive on time for the pitwalk (i'm hellbend on making sure i do), i'm definatly gonna stop by the Nielsen pit box and hopefully get the chance for a Fist bump 👊

      Yeah wasn't the plan for the race sadly. Ahh nice yeah hopefully you make it to spa and the pit walk 👍

    Love these videos, now a Nielsen fan and may even buy some gloss shampoo! Seriously great insight into the sheer amount of work into mainaining and prepping these cars. Lots of humour but a very high skill level and attention to detail. Work rate high - love the tool passing at 10:17 when mounting the rear.

    • @TheMotorsportMechanic

      Thanks and remember the gloss shampoo is for the car not your hair 😂 yeah most people don't realise the amount of work these cars require to keep them going around the circuit reliably.

    Why is the rear suspension "blurred out"?

    • @stijnpaspont
      @stijnpaspont Год назад +4

      i can only assume its because of the setup. LMP2 is super competitive and you don't just wanna show your tune to everyone else.

    • @TheMotorsportMechanic
      @TheMotorsportMechanic  Год назад +5

      Exactly as every lmp2 car is built with all the exact same parts, setup is important for getting a quicker lap time. so it's best if I cover it up as not to give anything away.
