After an epically unfiltered rant, an arrogant, loudmouth U.S. Army Colonel is reassigned to the Netherlands, where he is punished with a command position at the least important army base in the world. After serving with distinction in every warzone of the last three decades, he now finds himself in charge of a base with no guns, no weapons and no tactical purpose. Instead, it has a Michelin-star-level commissary, top-notch bowling alley and the best (and only) fromagerie in the U.S. Army. Surrounded by a diverse group of underdogs, the colonel tries to reinstall military discipline and professionalism with the help of the base's previous interim leader, who just happens to be his estranged daughter. Starring Denis Leary, Danny Pudi, Taylor Misiak, and more!

If only the writers had actually been to the Netherlands or anywhere else in Europe before writing this show. It makes no sense.
It says the most about Americans
It's a low budget sitcom, not a documentary
A com as in comedy right? Literally nothing made me laugh grin or even chuckle. Just not funny at all.
@@Minn_Vikings Even then, it seems better to me to just not mention a particular country if you know nothing about it.
I know right? Dutch cyclists using their bells? Pfah!
Gotta love the American veterans in the comments claiming this trailer represents their time stationed in Germany, while we all know Germany and the Netherlands are two different cities in the beautiful country of Europe
😂😂😂
😂
Isn't the Netherlands a city in Amsterdam though?
True story when telling someone in San Francisco I was from Holland. He was like: " Oh I love that country, I've been to Copenhagen once". 🤦♂️
Hahaha, good one.
We hadden nooit Nieuw Amsterdam moeten opgeven…
We hebben Nieuw Amsterdam ook nooit opgegeven. De 𝖠̶𝗆̶𝖾̶𝗋̶𝗂̶𝗄̶𝖺̶𝗇̶𝖾̶𝗇̶ Engelsen zeiden "Hand it over ........., or else!".
This is wonderful. I am looking forward to the Dutch comedy about the United States where Dutch generals will visit their base in the US. Of course it will be recorded in Canada, have Australian actors and a Kangaroos will hop throught the scenes.
I am a Dutchman from the Netherlands and this is the dumbest thing I have ever seen in my whole life.
The makers should create Dumb and Dumber 2 and be the main caracters in it themselves.
@@renelogtenberg141 It's a satirical comedy...
Use your brain... It's NOT supposed to be realistic. It exaggerates everything for effect...
I understand when I see US movies filmed in Canada....It costs LESS than in the US, and it passes off as the US or Europe (Montréal and Québec city) but it's NOT that...
If you can't understand that movies aren't real... Your life will be better...
And your rant pretty pointless...
And Dumber & Dumber is what these types of shows are SUPPOSED to feel like...
@TheJimprez it is not even funny at all and nothing feels like being Dutch. The dumb thing is that the makers mix Dutch with German (Deutsch). Also when it satirical it must be a bit right. Mixing Dutch with German is simply dumb.
@renelogtenberg141 Hey. I'm Canadian. So I get you. We get made fun of by some of those losers a LOT. But it's a funny show, because it's so UNREALISTIC!!!
If you get that part, the rest is just filling... Don't take it bad. They laugh at themselves too. Ever watched the US version of Shameless???
It's filmed in Ireland, so don't get so emotional about this. The USA is going to treat us to much worse in the next 4 years...
Do like me, keep your outrage for when it WILL be needed for real...
PS: Watch that stupid spoof on the Canadian RCMP Hollywood made with Brendan Fraser a while ago... Same shiat... It was NOT funny, but we just didn't watch it, instead of getting caught up in the stupidity of it... The USA ALWAYS looks down on everybody else... Now, WE get to look at it and go... WTF??? Is this shiat for real???
@renelogtenberg141 That is satirical...
@TheJimprez hi. I do not feel insulted or outrage. I have a few friends in the US. I just do not like the humor I have seen in the trailer. Yeah The Donald is a bit irritaded by you guys it seems.
As a veteran the only realistic (good) scene was @ 3:06 ... "I like this private" "He ran into a door" "but at least he ran"...Motivation trumps proficiency, LOL!
do you know what a comedy show is?
I was thinking the same thing lmao
Yeah, we're waiting for something to be funny. This is ridiculous. Essentially the entire world has become no smarter than a six-year-old because you can tell in the shows that people watch now.
@@MatthewOnAFireMissionFromGod i mean you can't judge a show by a short clip. you have to watch an episode or two.
😂😂true that
I’m going to start a Dutch TV show about ‘going american’ and the plot is just main character getting diabetes from high fructose corn syrup
and losing the 5th child in mass school shootings while selling their mom for meth
it would be more accurate about american life than this shitshow
😂😂
Why is this called Going Dutch when there are no Dutch people in it and it is filmed in Ireland?
It could have been much better. You guys didn't even try.
"buht ireland is also Europe so it's basically the same right"
And accent German instead of Dutch.
@@schtormm Hey jij ook hier
Yes, I fully agree. I thought I also saw a leprechaun in this short clip 😂. That is Ireland.
Lazy attempt to make a satire comedy serie about the Netherlands. I don't think it's funny, but hey that's just me 😂
we dutch people love international countries making shows about us, we love being seen, and recognising our own quirks on tv, but this does not seem like anything dutch is in it at all lmao. the “dutch” guy in-camp has a faux-german accent, and this base is in ireland lol. fox just being fox
Fox viewers are the kind of people that think Spain is the capital of Paris
Dont hate it for being inaccurate, hate it for being low effort and unfunny.
Why not both?
Ws this supposed to be funny?
Can I do both?
Well, if you’re gonna name and shame a country, at least look at the actual country. Because most Americans are dumb enough to believe these kinds of portrayals. I find that offensive.
Americans still don't know the difference between Germany and the Nethetlands. Stroopsdorf would be called Stroopsdorp in dutch. Also the guy at 2:35 speaks with a German accent.

Looks like Leary and Pudi had so little faith in the show's future that they refused to commit to the haircut.
As a Dutchie, I'm so confused on so many levels. Why does the base have half a Dutch (stroop) and half a German (dorf) name? Why does the only Dutch civilian speak with a German accent? Why is it the least important milit.....What am I looking at here??
You are looking at FOX network turning out their standard fare for their anticipated audience.
Actually as a Dutch guy, my father used to be in the military in Germany. It was obligatory military service back then and some had to serve on German bases. So it was quite real in the 70's. When I ask my father I always get nice stories about how unmotivated people where, like the hippies they were back then with long hair. Google on Rinus Wehrmann or hippieleger and you see what made the Dutch infamous, rebelling soldiers with no order. So this comedy series is based on some facts...
Dutch is a Germanic language. Dutch people are Germans 😂

@@albertdehaven5285yeah but Americans, if you’re gonna ridicule another country, make sure you pick the right references.

My thoughts exactly. I is not even cliche, it is beyond cliche.
And maybe throw in a a funny joke or two
americans? research? they literally BOMBED the netherlands in ww2 because they didnt know where germany was, T W I C E !!!!

There are no possums in the Netherlands.
Yeah, because that is the only inaccurate thing about this show.

(Army veteran) Completely stupid, but they did nail it for the German civilian working on base. I have seen them look at their watch and pull out a newspaper, then put it away exactly 15 minutes later (while I waited my turn for my paperwork).
I was stationed at a resort in Germany, this skit was pretty accurate imo.
I agree.
The man was obviously supposed to be Dutch, not German. Also these are US army soldiers but look like real Dutch solders to me. With being out of shape and with long hair and a definite lack of discipline.
efficiency..... rules are there for a reason.. you wanna complain?
a break is a break
The best joke is actually that while the show seems to make fun of The Netherlands, it actually inadvertently makes fun of how Fox viewers look at the world outside the United States: they don't. At all.
This serie reflects more how Americans perceive the outside world than how the Netherlands and the Dutch truly are. Everyone who ever worked with Americans know they are nice people but so internally focused. I am Dutch and recommend my fellow country men not to take this as an insult: they just don't know.
that’s a lot tougher when you’re dutch in america and all your friends have seen this show lol
@@bleh8584 oof, that sounds... painful. Sterkte.
It is typical for the problems of the world these days. USA as world leader: they just don't know
I have no idea what I just looked at, but seeing Americans completely fail at depicting Dutch people has always amused me
This is on so many levels inaccurate. Nothing to do with The Netherlands, military or humor. At least put a little bit of effort into it. Even a high-school project would be better. Shame.
Not realistic but the feeling of being at certain unimportant bases was definitely captured. When I was stationed at Diego Garcia, it felt like the military just forgot all of us. I actually got excited when a conspiracy theorist called up and demanded that we closed down the CIA black sites that he thought we had there, but then I remembered how embarrassingly slow the place was and how unfulfilled it made me feel so I went out to the parking lot and threw pebbles at a coconut crab.
"...thought we had there..." tell that to 'now released prisoners' of Bagram and Guantanamo who say that they were brought to Diego Garcia as an intermediate stop after their kidnappings.
That's not a conspiracy.
@@CAHA6Sure, I’ll say it to those fake prisoners. They’re probably making up stories for clout and speaking fees. Prisoners who were brought to Guantanamo wouldn’t even be informed where they stopped over at. Also, flying from Bagram to Diego Garcia would mean flying over the Indian and Pacific Oceans, which is the longer way to Cuba.
@@MrTVintro If you say so. Sure. I’d be wondering then why there’s so many Filipino contractors without any security clearances working on the island doing maintenance on the water and power plants, running the small restaurants and store, and working as ground crews on the flight line/ air terminal. That place was lame, but the fishing was good and MWR rented out windsurfing gear, so not too miserable I guess.
What were the flights going in and out many times a week doing?
From the 1970s onwards we saw many TV series in the Netherlands that were produced in America. We loved it!! Later we discovered that the Dutch broadcasters only bought the very best from the American stations... We never got to see the mess. With any luck we won't get to see this series either.
Least Important U S Army base with graft, black marketing and incompetent Army and Air Force personnel was Camp Hialeah, Pusan Korea. I was there for 3 years. Saw the BSB Commander arrested for drunk and disorderly conduct by his own MPs twice. He would have his Korean girlfriend push him in a grocery cart from the club to his home while in nothing more than his underwear. Good ole Camp Hialeah which is now gone.
I was TDY there in the mid 90s. Only on station for 2 weeks. Being USAF the Army cooks were all up in arms cuz at an AF mess hall, someone else takes our trays...
The old civilian was growling at me to put my tray back. I politely reminded him that respect gets respect. You honey vs vinegar concept.
Plus we were in briefed about the mess hall etiquette.
The same civilian growled at one of SNCOs... Yeah, that did NOT go well for anyone. Tried to warn the old civilian...
🤣🤣🤣🤣
We were rotated in every two weeks work out on the Pusan AB.
Your the 1st vet I've know who knows Camp Hialeah... That's awesome to me!!!
Korea is like the Wild West! I had so much fun!
@@spacedredd You disrespected the cooks. You were a brave man. Or whatever.
Hey, that's great material for a funny movie I would like to watch.

There is literally nothing Dutch in the entire show.
You can’t say that with certainty. Perhaps there’s an actor who identifies as Dutch American 😂
Even the bicycles are wrong. All racing bicycles.
Like most series and movies are filled with fairytales :) Never saw any flying dragons in Ireland and Scotland. No wizards in New Zealand either. No trolls in Norway. And I doubt James Bond really works for MI6 :) But I could be wrong ofcourse :)
@ There is a difference between authentic and realistic. A show does not have to be realistic to be authentic.
They're not using fairytales about the Netherlands. There is simply nothing Dutch about it whatsoever. Also, they are just betraying the place as incapable while of course the great Americans are coming to save the day. Americans need to stop insulting their allies, there are fewer left every day.
Don't worry, you Dutchies already made your splendid contribution to the world cultural heritage with New Kidz❤
As a Dutch veteran, this angers me greatly.
How dare Fox imply we Dutch have such an incredibly strict and cold military culture that would lead Americans to start doing things like this?
Everybody knows you don't have to wait for the officer to authorise the silent disco first. It just starts when it does.
And 1:39 who's ever seen a cheese factory like that?! As per Dutch army regs the cheese factory shall be fitted with rolling doors, plastic flaps are unacceptable

Is this what I'm missing by not having a TV subscription?
ikr
Yes, you are missing all the "fun".
I can say, with absolute certainty, there is no city, town or hamlet in the Netherlands that ends with "dorf". It's typically German. The correct postfix would have been "dorp".
Nothing in those show is Dutch
Probably the maker has never visited the Netherlands. Ridiculous production.
Doesn't look or sound dutch to me
Stroopsdorf? Really? Dorf is German for village. No village in the Netherlands has dorf in it's name.
My god, this feels like some low effort highschool project or something. It's not even that it's an insanely strange depiction of The Netherlands, but it's also painfully unfunny
That Dutch civilian really nailed the German accent!
if i'm assigned to this place, i must admit that i won't refuse...
The filming location for this is Gormanstown Army Camp,Co Meath, Ireland. I Served there for 22 years and then retired. Camp was the station for Irish defence forces, an Army Aer Corps unit and a army infantry unit 'B coy 27th Inf Bn'. I wish it was really like that in my day 😂

@@grahamfloyd3451 The Army must've really loved you or really hated you to do that.
gemany ?
my short time in germany (a long time ago and they messed up my contract and sent me there... so only a short time) what is totally realistic here is that unless you are a large "base" (baumholder, etc) your basic base is for a brigade... so you have motorpools, a bowling alley, an officer club (and maybe including an nco club with it or if you are really special a separate nco club)... thats it....
Not Baumholder! When I was assigned there, their commissary only opens 3 times a week. You have to drive to Ramstein to do a real grocery shopping. In Baumholder, it will be foggy and rainy but the rest of Germany will be sunshine. In Baumholder, you can experience the 4 seasons in 1 day. Baumholder also have a place called cardiac hill. About half of the formation falls out and you keep recovering the strugglers and spend about 20 minutes just for that hill. Baumholder is a small German town, only have 1 bar (Boomerang) but have McDonalds and Pizza Hut.

Just so you know, the NOS made an article to say how little effort went into using any crumb of accuracy for this show.
No one in the Netherlands speaks like a german guy. We actually know how to speak english
@waardlafrance110 We still speak mostly dutch, but can almost all speak english indeed. Every police officer etc speaks dutch. We don't do it with a national passion like the french. The Netherlands is indeed the (non native English speaking) country with the highest amount of English speakers, however everyone speaks Dutch on a daily basis to each other. We speak English while talking to tourist, expads, students etc.

From a Dutch perspective, this is going to be so unintentionally hilarious, I might actually watch. But congrats, your awkward misrepresentation of literally everything Dutch made it to the Dutch news! :)
I want to give this a chance, but its pretty painful to watch. I get its supposed to be comedic....but if your audience is mostly military, I'd wish theyd have some more military nuances researched. This show just seems like they took what they thought they knew about the Army and whatever they watched on MASH and other shows came up with this. Their military advisor must be bad or has their hands tied.
Look up the old military comedy "Major Dad" they were able to blend comedy and the military with perfection.
Idk. This is pretty funny.
Space Force did a better job. And well yah MASH is the gold standard.
This is what happens when you use Wikipedia as your source.
This series looks like it's right up there with _The Army Show_ (1998) about life on a base that the Pentagon "forgot" about. That sitcom lasted all of 13 episodes.
Abed would hate this
This is exactly how I imaged americans would see the Netherlands. I feel a Dutch series upcoming with fat leaders and hamburgers...
Oh no, we just watch the news, it's entertaining enough already, with that orange guy there claiming a "Gulf of America" is a thing 🤣.
I think this tells more about Americans than about Dutch people. Irony.
The most useless post in the army is white sands missile range. It has been down graded feom a 2 star command to a 1 star command ro a full colonel command, then recnetky upgraded back to 1 star command. When the commanding general brags that WSMR is the "best kept secret" in the army, that means no one knows about it, and no one cares.
I always thought it was part of Bliss, like McGregor range 😂
Why is it useless? Isn't testing of missiles important?
WSMR has a real fallout vibe though.
All I know is they're the reason I can't go backpacking in White Sands National Park.

This is beyond stupid.
This series says more about the actual state of knowledge of Fox and a lot of American people about Europe and particularly of The Netherlands than about the Dutch and European. You don’t have an idea about what you yourself are behaving in other countries. Yes, dutch people are very direct, but we are honest and not disrespectful like the people who wrote, produced and played for this nonsense series. First the name of the dutch base: Stroopwafeldorf… Stroopwafel is Dutch, but dorf? That’s German. And then all the bloody stupid old fashioned cliches. Cliches can be funny, but then in a proper storyline. And you dare to end the promo on RUclips with the tune of Monty Python. It’s a bloody shame. Monty Python did have a good storyline and super humor. Fox has no idea of quality.
Het zegt wel wat over het intelligentie niveau van Fox 🤔
What the f.. Stroopdorf?? That is not a Dutch word. Stroop is Dutch and Dorf means Village in German (!) . Even the accents are German, a Dutch accent is not so difficult to speak if you hire some Dutch actors. Even the buildings and the trees don't look Dutch. It would have helped if it was filmed in the Netherlands with some Dutch actors. I have an idea: let's make a movie about the american army and film it in China with people speaking with a Indian accent.
Horrible to watch, even for a non soldier.
Is this American humour?

There legitimately are units where all of the worst screwups get dumped, but they aren't corny or funny. They're dark. Drugs, violence, prostitution, absolute idiots and degenerates who somehow got wavered in when they shouldn't have and are typically in the process of being discharged long before their EAS date... Basically, imagine some of the worst inner high schools and that's what they're like. I've only briefly encountered them in passing, but even those brief times filled me with disgust.

Greetings from the Netherlands here... If this is how the average American thinks about Dutch culture, then, well... I guess it explains the "cultural mess" the U.S. has maneuvered itself into...
There are so many GOOD Dutch stereotypes that could've been used, but hey, that would involve putting some actual efforts into it. I guess the irony runs deep in this one...

It reminds me of _The Army Show_ (1998) about life on a base that the Pentagon "forgot" about. That sitcom lasted all of 13 episodes on the old WB network.
The one part of this that's actually funny is how realistic the Army issued signs are compared to the ridiculous setting.
