Thank you Andrew for showing us around your farm. It’s so nice to see such a nice well kept farm. It’s a credit to you and your staff. I’m always getting ideas from your videos for my farm. Keep up the good work. And I’m looking forward to many more videos.
Thank You for the Tour, very interesting , can,t wait for part 2 ! Very good of You to take the time to show us the Farm. You are doing a marvellous job promoting Farming in general, Thank You again
Brilliant mr ward, as a lorry driver myself, I always pop when I drive passed to say hello, Didn’t know you had another 😂 Brilliant work you and all the farmers in this. Country are doing thank you🙏👌
Another excellent video, love the old Atcost buildings but agree there not very practical today, the Atcost and Crendon buildings used to be the default choice back in the sixties. Love your part of the world, perfect farming Country, big fields and massive skylines, looking forward to part two and three👍
Thanks for the update Andrew. Leadenham is a pretty village with some nice stone buildings and I well remember the old A17 going straight through in the day and struggling to get around the George Hotel corner with two artics meeting at the same time didn't realise it had closed often wondered what it was like inside while passing through all those years ago. Thanks again posting,
Enjoyed watching part two last night, having some decent roadways around the farm make such a difference. Your no tolerance to wild oats and blackgrass is a winner in the end. Where I live I quite often see a few Wild oats in an otherwise clean field, can’t understand why the owners don’t rogue them !
Good farm roads are so important and are not a waste of money as some people think. I’m staggered at how bad some farmers tracks are, I couldn’t tolerate driving on them. I know some who’s tracks are so bad that at harvest the tractors and trailers use adjacent fields to get the grain to the yard as it’s quicker!!! Oh well, each to their own!
Thanks again Andrew, really enjoyed the farm tour and looking forward the next ones. I almost feel like one of the family now. Move over cats. As others have said, a credit to you.
Really interesting tour of the farm and your family history there ,By coincidence we travelled through your village a couple of weeks ago,Its a lovely area and I can see why the bypass would have been welcomed it will have transformed village life
Hi Andrew, lovely part of the country to live in. I live in Cambridgeshire so not far from you! Those old buildings were very good back 20 years ago but now with the larger kit they are to low. Looking forward to your next video. Fenland Rob
Hello Rob, you’re not far away! I think kit has got as big as it will go and is now starting to get smaller and with robotics as well. Except I can’t see trailers getting smaller.
Thanks Andrew, interesting as ever. Just a point re your low buildings, you need to have a word with your mate Mr Bailey, K two do them I think, non tipping but moving headboard trailers or ejector trailers, low roofs no longer a problem. 👍
Another great video Andrew, good to see the farm. I wonder how young farmers get to rent land now all the grandfather rights on land rent are gone. Look forward to the rest of the tour. Not sure about the shirt, better in blue perhaps. 😏😎😊
Many thanks for the tour, what a fantastic farm. How many workers do you employ on the farm. Love the farm cat accomadation, hope they repay you by keeping the rodents down. Looking forward to part 2 & 3.
Really interesting look round. Couldn’t you construct a tapered wedge in those grain bins to save your backs or are you really tight on grain storage capacity?
That is one option but it would need to made out of perforated material so the fans could still blow the air. Also we have a lot of storage so don’t need to use the bins much.
Brilliant Andrew thank you for showing us around and explaining a bit about your family background 👍 did Househam main yard used to be in Leadenham? Is it all at Woodhall now? Looking forward to the next video. Cheers

Hello Andrew in the past you have spoke about British sugar looking to raise the price they pay farmers for sugar beet this year , have they agred a price , cos in the shops the product is still afr to cheap when you concider the costs in producing it , and its never really gone up in at least 20 years in the shops ,it seems to have been left behind for example when i was running my own butchers rump steak was about £3.80 lb , now its around £7.90 lb , it seems like sugar and flour have been left behind
Andrew, are you related to a farmer called Mike Ward, he farmed near Normanton, he was a tall chap as I remember, he and my father had a good relationship in the sheep world, Fred Siddons from Caythorpe was also a good friend of my Dads
I am! Mike was my fathers cousin but they were really close and great friends so I always called him Uncle Mike. They used to go to Butlins at Skegness before they got married, god help the other holdayers!! A wonderfully kind man, who loved life and was a cracking beef farmer.
We didn’t bid for some on my boundary when wheat was £60/ton a few years ago, it went for nearly £3,500 an acre and now it’s £8,000 I think difficult to justify if you have to borrow it all.
Did you buy the main farm as a sitting tenant?.I assume the main estate had their reasons for selling at that time. Some estates have tried to change the AHA tenancy to a type of FBT to get the full benefits for tax.I know land prices seem dear at £60/t ,but it usually is a once in a lifetime opportunity.Best land in Herefordshire seems to be heading towards 20k /acre
My father had just taken on Heath Farm on an AHA tenancy and was offered to buy Glebe Farm from Leadenham Estate also. I think one of the sons owned it and was getting divorced so needed to sell.
OK ,looks like your father took the gamble,I assume there were in goings on the tenancy and then the opportunity to by a farm, land prices then did have a resemblance to what could be produced off the land
@@WardysWaffleAndrewWard A man of your calibre who likes a drop of building ,you'll just have to build one. You can call it the Farmers Arms and have NFU meetings and the like there
There used to be 2 pubs and when one was sold to go back to a house, we (the 5 farmers in the village) should of bought it but didn’t. The George Hotel has been going for 50 years but it closed last Oct.
Very smart, nice to see a tidy farm . The crops look good !
Some do! A few of the Nov drilled wheats not so.
Enjoyed that. Thank you. I've been out of agriculture best part of 30 years but I do like a good "farm walk" Looking forward to part 2 & 3.

Baileys have done ejector trailers and will do them to order but they are hellish pricey and not sure they are worth the investment for 3 weeks use.
