    Our giant is amazing, friendly, and very protective as stated in the video. She has great intuition about people and their character. If your sketchy and look sketchy she will let us know, if not she has not issues walking up to you and letting you pet her. When my wife got pregnant she became even more protective of her and rarely left her side. Going to the dog park if my wife goes outside the park to change my sons diaper our giant stops playing follows her, sits at the fence and watches her until my wife comes back then continues to play. None of that was trained or taught just pure instinct. Biggest bark I have ever heard from a dog. She takes a beating from our toddler and never nips nor barks at him. Perfect breed for a family companion and protector.

    Our first giant "Sugus" was a wonderful dog, great guard dog he lived with us in Alaska for 8 years, his last year was in Spain and when he passed it was some of the most difficult times we have had, after a year we decided to get another Giant "Buddy", certainly he is my best friend and I would not know what to do without him... giants are really special

    I’ve had my giant Greg from Sylvia’s kennel coming up on a year. I never knew a dog could be so stubborn and moody, yet so loving and affectionate. I have heard them described as velcro dogs and the description is spot on. Where you go, your dog will follow.

    Thank you for giving us a glimpse into your beauties life
    Sylvia gave me a wonderful 5.5 year old standard girl 2.5 years ago and she defies superlatives. She is now well into retirement and is smart/beautiful and outrageously affectionate. Everything I give her is given back then fold. I thank Sylvia for sending this precious little creature off to Canada.

      @Janeway1269 5 лет назад +6

      I'd love that too. But be sure to include points on 1. Service dog fraud that is plaguing society in the USA . 2. That there is no such thing as a legit SD registry 3. That a true SD isn't easy to come by if you want a dog that can go everywhere without issues.
      People need to know what a true SD is, how it's different from an Emotional Support or therapy dog and how fraud hurts people that really need a SD.

    This is a short form of the breed. Never seen such a short and bulky Giant. A breed standard correct GS has a square build. The dog she started going to shows with seems more correct to the standard.
    We got our Odin 4 months ago. He’s 6 months old atm. I love him to bits and wouldn’t want to live without him anymore.
    He’s a challenge to train and learn to behave but gives so much back with his character, strong will and loving kindness (if he’s in the mood 🤣)
    Advice for people that are interested in one: get your shit together, lead a stable life, invest time in him/her on a daily basis and last but not least, stand your ground physically but especially emotionally.

    • @marchoude2303
      @marchoude2303 5 лет назад +3

      yeah I thought the same too. Much too short. Bulk is probably the owner's fault but the height not being standard is Skansans fault.

      You just gave us more information in only a few sentences than in that entire video. I usually love the dogumentaries! This time it felt like a diatribe of her life and not nearly enough about the breed. So thank you for the advice!!

      @Janeway1269 5 лет назад

    The essence of this breed is not in external beauty !?! From the beginning, the Giant Schnauzer is a secret working breed of war! From the beginning it was "iron-breed for special purposes! Many years ago I worked with such dogs. There are archive videos). Nowadays it has been turned into a show breed in many ways. In general, an incredibly interesting breed, not deservedly relegated to the background!

      A giant schnauzer is as a grown up a very wary dog. If he/she doesn’t know someone or something intimately it’ll bark until the person or animal is out of sight for a while. But, it’s a breed which only barks with purpose, no unnecessary or compulsive barking at all.
      My 6 month old barks at the smallest noise he doesn’t know but can be quiet for the rest of the day 😋
