Adding some form of insulation to your loft is a must for Scottish winters (and summers!). This is an exciting stage putting the plan together and I’m sure you will come up with a good one. The 158s look stunning. Rainbow Railways have done a really excellent job. Will follow your progress with interest. Hugh
Ok, late to the party, but I look forward to catching up on a year's worth of videos. I'm a fellow Scot, modeling the same era as yourself but on the West coast/Glasgow area. I'm just getting started so thus series should be invaluable over the next year for me :D
Thanks I have been putting baseboards together badly but getting there. Have a fair few ScotRail models and just desperate to get some track down to have some running. Looking forward to your progress too!
Hi just subbed and dinged the bell so I can keep up to date with the progress, I will be interested to see what you do with the loft as it is similar to mine with the truss layout. I managed to negotiate with Mrs C to use the garage !! The 158 looks very good and a great job was done on the re branding.................Cheers Kev
Thanks very much, trusses are annoying but I reckon it’ll do. I love the 158 I want to run it so that’s my drive to get some track down. I looked at the garage but use it for too much storage currently where as the loft was empty. Cheers
It’s partly inspired by Dunfermline upper yes, if it was moved the couple miles East so the Edinburgh line could feed directly into the station and was expanded a little more like a haymarket or Waverley.
@@townhilljunction785 nice, looking forward to seeing another local modellers work. I really need to get up to the shed and start clearing it out ready.
Haha least you have just pipes! I have a massive loft which can't be used A) because there's a massive tank in the middle of the floor and B) the room and trusses aren't stable anough apparently.. So yeh. I would of loved my loft as a layout but it ain't happening unless I'm paying 15k for the roof to be changed😬😬
I had the tank issue but pills boiler broke so changed for a combi (saving couple hundred a month) so could get rid of the tank. I hope my trusses is strong enough! Almost finished the insulation which has taken ages
@@townhilljunction785 yes sounds similar to my house. I'm sure it will be fine. I was told if I floor it it will give struggle to sell which I dought but I'm just going to make a pop up room in the garage. Much easier to take out if I need to do something outside!

nice up date
Verry nice
Looking forward to your progress. I used insulation boards as thick as you can use with leaving a 25mm gap for airflow to allow your roof to breath.
Cheers for the advice, did you do the whole roof or just around the layout?
@@townhilljunction785 the whole roof and walls and seal the joints with tape.
@@DonegalDadRail thanks 😊
Just come across your channel im looking forward to watching your progression as you build your layout
Thanks very much, half way through loft insulation currently (covered in the stuff) hopefully have it done by the end of the month
Very nice update! Been going shed mad here! Got sorento arriving tomorrow can’t wait!!!!! 158 looks good but as a west coaster 156s r my frav

My garage took 2 skips to clear !!
@@medwaypeninsulaMR haha yeh I would be worried mine would be similar!
Are you planning on doing a simplified version of Dunfermline Upper ?

Bachmann: There's no market for saltire livery scotrail trains
Internet: Any saltire livery train under £300 is a bergen
It’s good to see they have learnt from their mistakes and have multiple now!
