Though history can be tragic at times, it can also be the most eye opening and facinating thing at the same time. I grew up in institutionalization and its always interesting me when i see these videos. its crazy to see the different set ups of different programs and hospitals and then ones compared to now and also some similar stuff, its also erie how these places can be closed for decades and still have power and stuff.
Wow thanks so much for the insight, I have so many questions about institutionalization and what you experienced, really a different era from today’s world. I can only imagine growing up in a place like this, that is just crazy to think about. Unlikely ever to be places like this on society ever again, you got me all curious now!

@@TheLukeExplores It is a very different aura, although sadly still very corrupt in many if not most places. Totally open to questions as alot of people dont know how active everything there still is. I went to Kurn Hattin, Bennington School for girls (aka, VPI South) also a branch from them called vail, they have changed their name several times due to investigations of abuse (which i can 100% attest to because it was h3ll) they went from going by vail to green meadows then to 204 depot street and now it goes by GAP. I was also in and out of the brattleboro retreat and lived at their program across the street called linden street residential, which they shut down i think in 2020 and changed it into something else for inpaitent or something. I was at hilltop in bellows falls as well. I have friends who have been to hill-crest in MA and onion river and even woodside before that was closed. These places run very deep still. Reasoning for being in all these places is due to a bad home life and trauma, these places are generally made to heal, and they surely often do not. The structure of them are interesting, alot of assylum and program exploration videos i see have alot of similarity to some of the program set ups that I was in. But I could by far say that the retreat is probably the most intricate, that's probably because it's so big but I wish I could show you the tunnels to that place because they are absolutely incredible like there's rooms down there that literally no one has ever touched. And they only use certain rooms. There are hallways down there that are completely cemented and blocked off and you don't know what was on the other side. Its like a maze. They also shut down the school, like there's units in the hospital that they've just changed the locks and nobody can go up there because they don't have enough funding or staff to support it. The system is wild and i hope within the next 10 years i can just walk into these places and see how much they changed since I was there and stuff that was left behind and rooms that I had and all of that.
Ooooh, the fall colors of New England. Not a fan. 😆 Luke, you were only a state away! I could have got you two a cawfee. So sad the things that were done to kids, but I'm not sure it's any better now. IE jail cells. Great job! I for one loved it.

@TheLukeExplores thats freaking amazing. I also love to see the foliage. The trees here are so crazy right now. I hate winter is on its way, but its okay, (that is unless it lasts til april😂)
Awesome video and location! I've been wanting to make it up there. Hope you're doing well, it's been a busy couple weeks for me; with a Midwest trip, but it's good to get some time to check out some of your adventures. Loved the chair of the episode; and the ironing board of the episode (unofficially), and the other cool finds. Quite an interesting and creepy history, it's wild how these old state schools and asylums are set up and promoted to appear as educational and rehabilitational, but really end up being correctional, and in alot of ways, torture factories. The murals and artwork were neat, guess Smokey the Bear was off on a cigarette break, and they had to use a lion to stand in on fire safety...😮 Thanks for sharing, hope you had a great Halloween; stay safe and take care! 👍😁👻
C4!! Welcome back man! I was wondering when I’d see your name pop up, I hope you had a great trip out west man. Looking forward to hearing the details, you go bando heavy on this trip?? No more forgetting the chair, I’m making it a priority to choose a chair that best fits the episode now lol. Should I bring in an ironing board of the episode??😂😂 it’s been a minute since I’ve posted a state school/asylum, and tbh I’ve missed them. They never ever miss the mark, and I’ve got a few more filmed to be released over the next month or two. They really were more of a prison than anything else. I hope you had a great and safe Halloween, definitely need to catch up soon. Hit me up on ig tbh. Videos ain’t stopping so let’s keep exploring!

Such an awesome place, curious as to which building. There was once which took a few extra mins than usual but pretty sure we hit all of it. Hope you enjoyed man!
2:30 - This looks a lot like when I was enrolled in boarding school, which was run a lot like an asylum! 3:00 - That's one strange pool! 3:59 - This looks like it could be a lot of different places. 4:14 - That looks like *fresh* blood, but only if it's still wet. Any volunteers? lol 4:57 - This hallway looks identical to the ones I had in New York public school system back when I was a little girl. 6:11 - This place would make an amazing movie set! This hallway in particular. 8:12 - Hahaha! Did you see what's stuck to the wall? 😏 10:25 - Wow! 13:10 - The same beds we had at boarding school! 13:25 - Looks like 1980's hydrotherapy tubs. 16:30 - OMG! The same exact beds from boarding school with the shitty mattress on top. 18:17 - This is common treatment. You put someone in the corner for a specified period of time as punishment. Also... Nobody puts baby in the corner. 19:15 - The power plant building! 20:00 - The kitchen that my ex-girlfriend imagined for our "future" forever home. 🤪 21:27 - That's from the 1970's! 22:05 - It's like 10,000 knives when all you need is a spoon. The still frames I could get here would be incredible! I simply must check this place out! The cinematography in your video is outstanding!
Thanks for the kind words, I really enjoyed this explore on a Personal level. Asylums are different because you can quite literally feel the energy at all times, makes for an exciting experience each and every time. I appreciate your insight as always, thank you for taking the time to comment. Everything from the halls to the power stands out at this spot, I really hope it stays in decent condition for years to come. Thanks for the comment, should I do more asylums videos or keep switching it up?
I love this spot! I went 2 times over the summer and explored almost every single building for my channel. Such a shame they have plans to demo everything 😢
I love the whole exploring thing, this time I have too say your information is a little off. I lived down the street from this place when when all the people were placed as you worded it. They were not placed anywhere. They were all evicted, basically thrown out into the street. Hardly nothing. Laconia for a minute was delt with them walking around aimlessly with nothing. That's the real story
You said at the beginning of the video that the patients were placed elsewhere. They were not. They were kicked out on the streets , with nothing. @TheLukeExplores
If you go on any historical website/page about Laconia, it states “The area agencies were developed and individuals with developmental disabilities and acquired brain disorders were given supports and services in the community rather than locked up like "inmates." I’m not doubting you know your stuff, but there’s about 10 different sites/videos that confirm the information I provided in the video. NH was the first state to even have community based services to help the disabled.
