- I realized I hadn't touched my Oud in several months, so I picked it up and recorded a spontaneous improvisation. The rustiness is very apparent, but that's part of being a musician, too.

I have been watching your videos for years. I would get a strange feeling that you are more than a stranger who makes videos on youtube, a friend maybe or a brother I never had. And watching you playing the Oud (Which I also play and is a very popular instrument here in Syria) greatly intensifies this feeling.
I love what you do, you are an inspiration.
Thank you Fillip.
Just came from "Let's Talk Religion"...تسلم ايدك, how you speak through the Oud is beautiful brother..Amazing storytelling...Tener Duende
wonderful, id like to see more videos like this
imperfection is perfect!
You just reminded me why I love the internet. Totally drew me in.
fire, also what an instrument!!
It's an amazing Oud!
I love the oud, Filip.
👏 👏
🙏❤️🌍🌿🕊🎶🎵🎶
Love the oud. It was one of the many instruments my grandfather played❤.
That's lovely!
Simply 'Bro you are amazing.'
Great stuff
Love the oud. Wish I could find a local oud player to make some music with.
And I should only be that "rusty". If I don't pick up my cello for months, it sounds like cats fighting in the back alley.
Very nice.
I enjoyed this! To me, the oud has a very soothing tone and your improvisation highlights that. ❤❤
Thank you!
This was just the inspiration my work needed tonight, thank you immensely for sharing this!
Awesome. Wonderful to hear talented young people keeping traditional styles of music vital. I wish I could play that wrll "rusty" lol. Wonderful.
Ohh Filip!!! It's mesmerising, playing on wire with heart, can catch flow of breeze so touchy . amazing!
Perfect reverberation
This is the music that I imagine would play in a film when the main character realizes he's in too deep.
My exact thought upon seeing vid in my feed
Wow!
i Really thought the title said rast as in the maqam name , lovely improv in all cases
beautiful tunes
I don't know how to explain as to why is it so but 00:57-01:10 is obviously you. It's satisfying to see yet still odd how unique you are for an amateur musician. Keep it up!
Çok güzel olmuş, eline gözüne sağlık!
Loved it !!!
Thanks again 😊 Glad that you decided to watch the full version too!
i don't think the mizrap should hit the wood. the sound is undesirable.
i like it, it adds something
Great stuff. Beautiful sounding instrument! Is it difficult to learn coming from a guitar background? Does it use standard equal temperament?
Thanks! The instrument is fretless, so whatever you want it to be! :)
The maqamat modal system that is usually employed when playing the Oud is not based on equal temperament, though. It includes quartertones and has a whole other structure (which includes the notes of the wester scale too, at least today)
@@FilipHolm Interesting... Thank you for your reply and happy playing :)
Let's talk about music. Music is a religion that can even touch animals and plants?
It certainly seems that it can!
, I thought that maybe this could be a new topic for, Let's Talk Religion
Is it in any particular maqam?
I think I was just playing a variation on Nahawand in C.
