    The MXR chorus deluxe sounds much better when you turn off the flanger button, which was on in this video. also, you should have rearranged the pedals to show us some of them mixed together! (you could have shown a nice synth sound with the octave, fuzz, and envelope filter)

    I have most of these and they are keepers. The M 81 pre amp not shown here is as good as it gets for a clean Bass pre.

      The low knob on thr M81 is super nice and juicy. Its centered somewhere around 40hz, which is quite low.

    A no fuzz, non-wooly or excessive high end explanation; just a clean and dry; well done!

    All great besides the overdrive, very inorganic and fizzy.

    The MXR Bass overdrive DOSE NOT have a clean / blend control. It's a blend between a dull sounding EQ preset. Check the manual please.

    I've been out of the loop for a while, just about to start gigging again after years. This MXR brand, they seem ok then? Everyone talks about Darkglass, and they seem good too, but pricey.. It's like my Ampeg stuff all over again. My Ampeg gear cost near $10,000, now it's worth bugger all. .. (STV3-Pro + 810). I see Darkglass have taken that over the top expensive position now. So, does that mean they're all overpriced components?

      Darkglass seems over rated in my opinion. I’ve watched some videos with the mxr bass overdrive vs some of darkglass’s drive pedals and mxr’s sounds a lot more musical and versatile to my ears, covering slight grit into a harder clipping fuzz sound, at a fraction of the price. Perhaps if someone’s looking for a trashier metal sound darkglass might still be a good choice. Just my perspective though.

    boss bass chorus or mxr chorus???

      The Boss is good. I´m a fan of Boss pedals in general. I often even go back to them from expensive boutique pedals...but in this case the MXR Bass Chorus is the better choice (but also the more expensive one). It has more options and it sounds just great. I think that it´s really one of the best Chorus pedals for Bass.

      Mad Luigi thank you very very much i appreciate this a lot. i want a really deep chorus sound
      i’m sorry the mxr can accomplish that

      The MXR has a wider range of tones where the Boss pedal is pretty much just one sound. Unless you really like that one sound and don't want to tweak with knobs too much, then you probably wouldn't have any issue with it. For me, the MXR having both chorus and flanger in one pedal is enough to make it better than the Boss. Especially considering they're around the same price range.
      Generally I try to stay as far away from Boss pedals as I possibly can though, because none of them are true bypass, Boss pedals are all buffered. Meaning that even when the pedal is off, it still compresses your tone and doesn't let your true instrument signal pass through

      Ethan N yeah i try to limit my boss pedals but i still have 4 on my original board. what do you think about the mxr octave? i’ve tried it and the sub octaves aren’t the most accurate from what i’ve heard compared to boss octave pedal

    • @ethann9433
      @ethann9433 4 года назад

      @@christopherrusch I liked the MXR when I tried it at guitar center once, I don't own one though so I can't really judge it. It's nice for when you want a good low end boost, but it's not something I would leave on my board all the time
      I haven't heard the boss one so I can't really compare them

    • @ethann9433
      @ethann9433 4 года назад +2

      @Garegh62 Justin Chancellor from Tool has this MXR envelope filter and he leaves it on almost all the time. You can get a lot more subtle tones from it that sound way better than how it was used in this video

      I agree though, the bass compressor's one of the best pedals they've ever made, at this point it's basically become the gold standard for bass compression. Just like how the tech 21 sansamp is considered the mother of all DI boxes that everyone compares all other preamp pedals to

  • @jakejohnston5276

    on reverb I keep seeing an MXR envelope that is a bigger pedal, it looks a little older, but it's said to be the same pedal but cheaper is this true?
