I know this video is older.... but I was asked to put my 2 cents in lol. Cobalt colors ( unfortunately) are my absolute favorite pigments. As a professional artist and Bookbinder I find them irreplaceable for gorgeous colors, excellent lightfastness, granulation, strength and for making my own watercolors. When you make watercolors, yes the cobalt are the most exspensive... but that tells you they are invaluable. They are a dream to make paints with, they are easy to mull and " the cobalt pigment just wants to be paint " - Arleebean. Now I said unfortunately because I know they can be hard on the environment.... so like you said, I take part... but I do my part on making sure everything is disposed of properly, safely and correctly. Hope everyone is having a lovely day 😊
I caved and just bought this after watching this video. You are right, it's so beautiful. You also did a great sell, showing all the fantastic things the cobalt teal can do. Thank you!
I live for the moments when you mix colors with other colors. I'm addicted to this. Some people like asmr, I like watching color mixing... not on a chart but like in this video, in a row, little lines creating this beautiful transition from one color to the other. SO satisfying! I love that part of these videos :D
Aww yay! I'm so glad you like it. Jane Blundell has a book you would love if you don't already have it. A patron picked it up for me! www.blurb.com/b?ebook=522172
I really appreciate your discussion of a few different pigments in relation to this hue! It made me realize that I haven't used my cobalt teal very much lately. :o That vipercorn is a gem, honestly!! So very adorable. ♥
I have not commented yet because I have been watching your channel from the beginning since I discovered it about a month ago. I absolutely love your loose style and your informative videos. You have helped me SO much in my own watercolor and art journey. I am eagerly moving to the current videos. This viper-corn is amazing and I think his power would be a venom of truth telling. I don't think he looks derpy at all!
Yay, one of my favourite colours on spotlight! I use cobalt teal because it makes me feel cheerful and happy, using one's fav colours in art is good for mental health, I believe. Thank you, Denise, for a great video and your painting of a subject that could easily make me shudder, but alas didn't as your viper is so darn cute! 💗
Hope you're feeling better, Denise! I've been waiting for this particular episode of Color Spotlight and I'm so excited when I saw the YT notification for this video. 😁 Cobalt Teal is (and will always be) my number one favourite colour in the whole world and it's an indispensable colour for me. I paint a lot of seascapes & landscapes and I always find myself reaching for this colour. It's lovely by itself or when mixed with other colours (the granulation is just 💙💚). Anyway, loving the vipercorn! 🐍 I imagine that he has the power to know our dreams & desires and be able to 'nudge' us a bit, help us set our mind, and guide us on what to do to achieve those dreams. 😀🌈
That's a lot of gorgeous Cobalt Teals, but my favorite is from Winsor & Newton. W&N isn't my favorite brand, but they make a few colors that I find the most beautiful of their kind, particularly the Cobalt Teal Light, Scarlet Lake, Permanent Rose, and Opera Rose. Mostly, my favorite brands are Daniel Smith, Sennelier, and M. Graham, but hats off to W&N for these lovelies!
I haven't bought cadmiums, but I have purchased cobalts. I never really thought about the damage through mineral extraction. I'm very careful of how and where I depose of my paints because I have lots of beautiful wildlife around my home. Thanks for bringing up this topic. I love your vipercorn! I think of Slytherin the minute I see a green snake, so I'd like to think the superpower would be to keep the Slytherins away from evil and the Dark Lord, hahahaha!
I love my PG50 from Schmincke and its an essential color for me. I love all Cobalt colors and Cadmiums tbh and I couldn‘t live without them on my pallete 🤷🏽♀️
Loved this video a lot, even with the most recent developments. I'm really looking forward to the info you'll find regarding the sourcing of the cobalt pigments.... (is a video update planned? or more like a blog post?)
Eve Bolt - Bolt's Vault thanks Eve. I'll probably let you guys know through twitter or Patreon about what info I find out asap but, I also am planning on doing an alternative colors video and share it there too.
I think the vipercorn came out great...his special power would be that he understands all speech but can himself speak in a way ony the most special can understand :) He's a code breaker/maker of sorts.
I just LOVE your vipercorn....he's to die for. And offcourse teal is my FAVOURITE colours so kudos to you all around for these amazing videos 😍😍😍👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
I love your pithy pit vipers and adore most all shades of turq/teals. Very helpful to me as a beginner trying to demystify color mixing and choose my own color pallet. I love florals and whimsical, fantasy topics. That combination makes it difficult to choose a personal pallett.
I've tried to paint this guy too... I had way too much scale detail and it overwhelmed the watercolor... I like your approach, even if you aren't totally happy with it.
Lookit this adorable little chaos lord. I know its a departure from your usual, but that just makes him as special as the color you used to paint him. c:
Love your color spotlights, such neat packages of huge amount of info in just a few minutes! And snake! Yey! ^.^ love snakes. It came out beautifully! ^.^ As for using cobalt teal... When I finally catch my wallet, it's another thing after quin rose/pink that's on my list of "to try" :D too bad my wallet is still faster than me >.>
I too had never heard of these ethical issues, which are quite distressing, though I knew mineral extraction of all sorts is being aggressively pursued with a lot of disregard for people, animals and environment. I wonder how many of our other pigment also have issues simply from the raw material that we do not know of and which may not be related to toxicity.... I have two versions of Cobalt teal, Lukas 1864 and Kremer which are quite different but both lovely. As I have them now I will respect them and try and use them responsibly, I am not sure if we can avoid all issues, I think artists of the past we much less informed but some knew about toxicity and continued to make anyway. We are fortunate, we have an overabundance of choice. The Lukas version at first seems very opaque but once dry on the palette performs more as you would expect. The Kremer is similar in hue to the DS. I am intrigued by both and they make great mixes. I love the Kremer especially as it is the exact colour of the underside of a tropical wave in the afternoon sun! And no other blue really comes close..... Your vipercorn is great, I like these whimsical creatures and it is lovely to see your process. Thanks for the great mixes too, it always amazes me how many variations our lovely paintboxes will give when we really use them well. And thanks for keeping me learning, it really is such a gift.....
Thanks so much for your thoughtful comments Lindy! It's so hard to find out about this information. I really wish it was required! So glad you like the vipercorn - it's been fun coming up with ideas and I can't wait for the next one!
I'm pretty new to painting/art and I share your concerns about the environment. I hadn't given a ton of thought, somehow, to how pouring out paint water effects the environment. Do you have thoughts on how artists should responsibly dispose of paint water? I'd be interested in hearing about any tools or methods that lessen the impact on our water supply/environment.
This is more for house paint, but there's a water based section:ecopainting.ca/eco-painting/environmental-tips/disposing-paint-waste/ I let my pigments settle before pouring out the water when possible, pouring off the water and then removing the pigments as solid waste with a small paper towel.
I own both the Qor and Turner version, and it is wonderful for tropical water and skies. it is also one of my favorite colors overall, so I am in love with it anyway. The vipercorn is very cute, and I believe his magical power is that instead of spitting venom, he spits a magic gas that grants wishes and hearts desires. BTW, which version did you think was the most transparent? Neither one that I have is, and in spite of the staining, I may just mix some Phthalo turquoise when I run out of what I have. Appreciate all the research you put into these spotlights!
I just discovered your channel and am looking forward to watching all your vlogs. I love your snake. I think his magical power would be to hypnotize you with his gorgeous eyes so that he could safely strike, or disappear. 🙂
The painting is beautiful. I loved watching you develop it. I am very scared of snakes, I cover my eyes when they come on TV and can’t fall asleep at night after having seen them (not in person!). But this viper actually looks cute.
Thanks so much! I'm so glad it was friendly enough for you. There are some snakes that we definitely have to respect and keep a wide distance from given their toxins, but many of them are harmless and so, so helpful. Here in California at least, we only have one venomous species (rattlesnakes) and all the others are phenomenal at keeping rodent and other small animals in check - definitely a critter that should be welcomed around the home and garden in many cases :)
For differnce in color if same pigment is used for 2 different colors: the color differs due to the amount of effort taken to make the pigment particles smaller on the process. The smaller ot gets the more different the color will be. And I think also the color can be different deoending on other stuff added to the pigment ( stuff like fillers and bindingagients etc. etc.)
Thank you for your great videos about watercolours. Very informative and visual. I have bought two White Nights (St. Petersburg Nevskaja Palitra) cobalt watercolours not so long ago. And they differ from colours showed by you. Cobalt azure blue PB36 looks like cerulean blue (without green shade). And Cobalt turquoise PB28 is really beautiful light turguoise, more greenish than any of your colours. Maybe someone will be interested.
Teal or cyan is like the troll for many color naming conventions. You can't fully tell if it's green or if it's blue. Also, is there a nontoxic or hue equivalent on that color, along with the other cobalt pigments (especially Aureolin)?
Thanks Katherine! Many have suggested that, and I might if the right project comes alone, but I definitely miss my loose style after working on pieces like this :)
Cobalt Teal gets misunderstood. It is such a beautiful color, but too many people avoid it due to cost and thinking they don't need a turquoise. I find that this color is a fantastic color for mixing great greens and blues for everything from foliage to skies to tropical seas. Such an amazingly useful color and well worth its cost.
Cobalt teal is one of my favorites with phthalo green BS, both make magic mixes with dark indigos ! Btw, would you mind telling what red violet you used in this episode (may be the brand you used, and could it simply be a quin. magenta ?) Much thx for your channel that for a color freak like me is so full of infos and insparations ❤
I love the vipercorn, Cobalt teal is colour I never knew what to do with! I have a winsor and newton version, DS Amozonite and Tia from EEM and I hardly use, I will have to change my ways.
I hate snakes but you made hm so pretty I enjoyed viewing it. I think yu can make anything beautiful, & I like yu I like cobalt teal & use it whenever I can. Jewell
He's beautiful, and so is this paint color! I'm so in love. I'm concerned about the impact on the environment. Not just with us using it, but with how it's manufactured. Did any of your research bring anything up on that?
I wish there was a good synthetic or plant based turquoise substitutes for this. I love the hue and it's the only cobalt in my palette, but I haven't used it much yet. I haven't anything that looks quite like this yet, but would love, too. If only teal were more en vogue, then maybe the pigment suppliers would try to find something good to substitute it 🤔
I a bit conflicted. I’ve always avoided toxic pigments because I care a great deal about my health and am frankly a bit of a hypochondriac. Im also not very responsible with taking extra efforts to avoid exposure to myself and the environment, so I’ve always used exclusively non-toxic pigments. As I read more about cobalts, I realized that in watercolor they are pretty low on the hazard concern list (cadmium is worse) considering the primary health hazard is breathing in powder dust or ingestion. But, considering that in order to safely dispose of cobalts for environmental concerns you must collect the the powder residue, im back to wondering if it’s worth it. I received a small sample of cobalt teal on a dot card and fell in love with the hue (hence my growing research on the topic) and now I don’t know what to do. I want it, but in order to reduce the environmental impact I worry that i would be risking respiratory exposure.
I adore Cobalt Teal and can not paint without it. I have 3 versions of it Schm, QOR, and DS with Schm. being the bluest. I actually really like the illustrative style of the snake, less scary( not a snake fan).
I’m with ya! Cobalt teal is just a color I can’t do without. My question is, if you have to dispose of it carefully, which I understand why, how does one do so? I could put it in one of those plastic jars for oil that they recommend at recycling centers, but then they wouldn’t be able to recycle it with cobalt in it I don’t believe. I could, once the bottle is full, trash it but that would be me not recycling the plastic. Any suggestions? Love the painting, I think you did great as an illustrative painter in your other video, and even though you weren’t trying, here!
I don't have a *great* solution to offer. What I do is I let the cobalts settle (they're heavy), I pour off the water, then I wipe out the solids with a paper towel and dispose. It's not a lot better, but at least doesn't end up in our water supply immediately.
Vipercorns are vegan and their special power is to locate their main food source of champaroogn fungus. They use their horn to gently pry it from between the roots of the silver rowan tree.
A huge THANKYOU for your work. A RUclipsr claims that the most watercolor ‘neutral’ primaries (temperature-wise) are: quinacridone magenta, cobalt teal and cadmium lemon yellow (no indices given). The point being that these three colors are the perfect base for all mixes. Please, please, let’s know what you think. Salaam!
Aww yay! I'm so glad you like him! I'm a huge fan of snakes, but know not everyone is, so I'm always happy to do right by them and share them with a wider audience :)
I am disgusted with the use of child labor in industry. I’m glad you pointed that out. So, how do I find the hues of the cobalt colors in the artist grade paints?
I actually found a really good dupe for cobalt teal (I didn't think it previously existed!) that I'll share in an upcoming video! As for cobalt blue, I just use ultramarine - easy peasy!
You know, I don’t think I have any cobalt teal at all (maybe I have it in Davinci, now that I think about it? I remember owning a pan of a color that looks similar in my head though I’m not sure where it is right now) but I use the HECK out of some Phthalo turquoise.....even though its super staining breaks my heart. 😭 I was working on a piece the other day and managed to smudge that Phthalo turn outside the area I wanted to with my arm and then spent forever being sad about it. 😔 Love your vipercorn, though! It’s super cute, and I like the illustrative style even if you don’t feel as comfortable! =^.^=
Wonderful video! I'm curious: when you do the mixes, do you do kind of a random sampling of the colour that you are mixing with? It doesn't seem to be a specifically graduated mix from left to right--more as though your brush is playing around on the pallette, taking its time to get to the other end of the chart. :)
I just wanted to mention that when you see HUE in the name of a paint color, this shows a comparable color based on the "original" mixture without the use of heavy metals and carcinogenic ingredients. Cobalt is one of those materials that can be eliminated in paint and other applications as well. Still nice to hear from you Denise. I hope your doing well.
I am going to categorize this color for me as C.I.T.I.S.L! (Colors I think I should love) But, I never reach for it! Do you have colors like that? Great research and color mixing as always. I'll be very sad to know if it is a unethically obtained pigment. Vipercorn rules. 🤘 Power to make others smile!
Would you choose sennelier's version, holbein's version, or Daniel smith's version? I don't have access to M Graham in my country :( Thank you for the video, it made me want to buy it (don't know if this is good or bad though)...
I know you said that you're not an expert with this but I still have a question. Where do you find the information about toxicity? I bought a few Daniel Smith colors and I kinda forgot about toxicity and I'm a bit paranoid about it now and I'd like to know what's safe and what's not. Also I'm probably gonna invest in a schmincke set and I also want to know more about the toxicity.
There are some blogs about it, but mostly just collecting information here and there. If you can find the pigment on DickBlick, they have a great info panel for individual colors that can also give you more information.
Very informative video, thanks! I am a little distressed about hearing of your health problems, I have also had some problems with my health care, would you be interested in hearing what has helped me? Weird place to ask but please let me know. Have a Grand Day!
This is a pretty unique color. You can get a similar hue with a cool phthalo blue/green mixture and adding white, but it wont have the same properties.
Accoarding to my experiments the closest to cyan is phthalo blue PB15:3 (used by me is made by Mungyo, they call it "Cerulean blue"). I compared it with cyan extracted from cartridge of ink printer (Canon) and it seems and behaves almost the same way. I like CMY system in my watercolour paletes.
I loved the way the viper-corn was going until you outlined it, that was the tipping point that made it illustration like IMO, not the scales. Still super cute though x
Thanks Kath. The reason I outlined it was because the painting was not going how I wanted or envisioned it. If I hadn't outlined it with ink, I still would have needed to outline it with watercolor which would have had a similar effect. However, this gave me an excuse to try out a new brush pen I've been eager to play with, so not all was lost :)
Check out Angela Fehr, in her new Mastery class she is (rightfully so) obsessed with this pigment!! I believe she’s using Daniel Smith. I’m sharing your post with her next!!
I have QOR Cobalt Teal PG50. I like the way it separates when mixed with other pigments (especially PR254). I do not know how to quantify the health risks or ethical considerations (what about the hundreds of other pigments, what is their 'score' in relation to cobalt pigments? I have no idea.
Stephen Turner I really wish there was more information made public. I'm doing my best to send out emails now regarding cobalts specifically but it would be impossible for me to find the information on the hundreds of others out there 💔 I did inquire to DS when I did the vegan video regarding their Primatek colors and they said they're ethically sources as a blanket statement but didn't give dither information. .
Hi Denise, love the new Spotlight series, it's very very helpful ^_^ Is the M.Graham Cobalt Teal you are using very runny? I know it doesn't dry fully, but I've read people describing M.Graham Cobalts being particularly runny. Also, don't know if you've tried Schmincke version of this pigment - how does it compare in hue and granulation?
Ana Markozashvili mine levels out in my pallet over a few hours when I squeeze it out fresh from the tube, but it still dries enough to travel without issue.
Same as what Ashly said regarding consistency. I only have the tiniest sample of Schminckes so I can't make a full assessment but from what I've seen it's lovely.
Oh, great! I just love M.Graham's version, but want to put on my travel palette for seaside trips and was worried about that ^_^ Will keep in mind, thank you.
I had a problem with mine this week. Even being in my palette for over 2 months it did not dried fully. Maybe environmental conditions play a role on this?
N Monteiro Yeah I think it never settles down in a more humid climate. I don't live in a humid place but am planning to travel to one, so not sure what I'll get. Probably Schmincke, as it sets and rewets well.
First things first, I actually don’t use cobalts, but not because I care about the toxicity, but because, I agree, I really don’t miss cobalt colors, I use PG7 and PB15‘s and they give me ... the same! I do occasionally use cobalt teal, I have one on my pallet.... but while I usually love granulation, I personally don’t really like the one my PG50 gives me... but yeah, for some things it’s an absolutely wonderful color to work with!
I'm pretty sure the MINOR amount of cobalt you are spilling down the drain in your water is a speck of sand on the beach compared to the mining of cobalt and other MUCH more environmentally damaging things going on in heavy metal extraction... while I applaud you thinking about it - I'd say spilling out cadmium or cobalt paint water is about as harmful to the environment as driving your car down the block.
If we all have that opinion, it adds up. I do everything I can to reduce my impact on the environment from little things like this, to which products I buy, to how much plastic I use, and how I vote.
Good for you and it is a fine example for the rest of us! I try to do things that drive as much impact as possible.. like avoiding factory farmed meat (which produces more greenhouse-gas emissions than anything else on the planet!) and driving gas efficient cars... but painting with cobalt watercolors - I think that one I can live with.
Native Americans call lying 'speaking with a forked tongue'. So since snakes have a forked tongue, maybe the uni-viper's superpower is lie detecting. She'd make millions on the paternity talk show circuit!! Lol Maybe Jerry Springer or Maury Povich would fight to hire her full time! Lol♀️♂️♀️♂️

Love this series! Colbalt teal is my absolute favourite colour ❤️
How you make a viper utterly adorable! Love him! I think his power would be to keep negative energy away!

Luckily with the cadmiums, there are sooo many alternatives these days that do a great job at replicating them :)
These colour studies are so valuable. Helps to know how to make better use of the colours in my palette.

Instructive, creative and friendly as always. thank you Denise!
I love the vipercorn, in whatever art style! Those Insolarus snakes are just astonishing!
Another great one! Thank you! As for QOR's cobalt teal, it's actually one of my favorites, it makes some very interesting mixes when you mix on paper.

Wow! Loved your teal viper-corn... Great episode.
Love it! I like when you do whimsical. This make me think you'd do a great dragon. 😀
I've tried to paint this guy too... I had way too much scale detail and it overwhelmed the watercolor... I like your approach, even if you aren't totally happy with it.

I love you're "derpy" viper even if it's not your style.
DS' PG50 and PB36 gave me such a hard time in choosing between them (much like green apatite genuine and undersea green) that i caved in and got both.
I just discovered your channel and am looking forward to watching all your vlogs. I love your snake. I think his magical power would be to hypnotize you with his gorgeous eyes so that he could safely strike, or disappear. 🙂
Thanks Katie, and welcome!! :)
I'm the same way with sharks. I can't look at them in photos or videos.
For differnce in color if same pigment is used for 2 different colors: the color differs due to the amount of effort taken to make the pigment particles smaller on the process. The smaller ot gets the more different the color will be.
And I think also the color can be different deoending on other stuff added to the pigment ( stuff like fillers and bindingagients etc. etc.)
The chemical compounds themselves can also affect colors sharing a pigment index code.
Have you ever painted a turquoise owl? I have seen pictures of this owl along with owls that have multi-colors that you love.
Oh my gosh, I’m going to try this with my cobalt turquoise! Thank you for the inspiration!
I think that's a really great idea for a video. I am going to be traveling but will put it on my list to work on when I get home!
I love your Vipercorn.so cute
Thanks Suzanne!
I am ordering this color, and awesome viper! You really are a very good illustrator... Maybe you should do some books?
Thanks Katherine! Many have suggested that, and I might if the right project comes alone, but I definitely miss my loose style after working on pieces like this :)
Cobalt Teal gets misunderstood. It is such a beautiful color, but too many people avoid it due to cost and thinking they don't need a turquoise. I find that this color is a fantastic color for mixing great greens and blues for everything from foliage to skies to tropical seas. Such an amazingly useful color and well worth its cost.
It is irreplaceable! A very unique hue.
Love this! Great job! Tfs
I love your viper!
Cobalt teal is one of my favorites with phthalo green BS, both make magic mixes with dark indigos !
Btw, would you mind telling what red violet you used in this episode (may be the brand you used, and could it simply be a quin. magenta ?)
Much thx for your channel that for a color freak like me is so full of infos and insparations ❤
I believe that was from Rembrandt. The color name was Red Violet, but it was a PV19 not a PR122 or PR202.
I love the vipercorn, Cobalt teal is colour I never knew what to do with! I have a winsor and newton version, DS Amozonite and Tia from EEM and I hardly use, I will have to change my ways.
It's also great for water, and I like it to mix with other blue for various skies :) I'm glad you like the vipercorn!
Cuddlebloom I did not find any of that during my research unfortunately. Another viewer posted a link to a video though. I'm looking into it.
I wish there was a good synthetic or plant based turquoise substitutes for this. I love the hue and it's the only cobalt in my palette, but I haven't used it much yet. I haven't anything that looks quite like this yet, but would love, too. If only teal were more en vogue, then maybe the pigment suppliers would try to find something good to substitute it 🤔
The snake is beautiful
My latest video is about disposing of paint water with toxic pigments :)
In Liquid Color oh cool I do that anyway for acrylics so no big change for watercolor. I don’t know why I didn’t even consider that!! Thx 🙃
Is there still going to be an alternatives video or did I miss it in my search?
Vipercorns are vegan and their special power is to locate their main food source of champaroogn fungus. They use their horn to gently pry it from between the roots of the silver rowan tree.
That's adorable! 😂
I'm debating if buying holbein's PB28 or white nights PB28. Any suggestions? ☹️
Qor Cobalt Teal is life.
Salaam!
Hi Sal, I replied to you message about this :)
Hi Denise. Many thanks. Would you care to direct me to your reply? I have no idea where it is. Thanks again. Sal
I believe you messaged me on Instagram.
Who would have guessed, not me, a snake would be so beautiful decked out in my favorite color! ♥️him or her!
Aww yay! I'm so glad you like him! I'm a huge fan of snakes, but know not everyone is, so I'm always happy to do right by them and share them with a wider audience :)
a friend..... i love him
I am disgusted with the use of child labor in industry.
Can cobalt teal produce ds cobalt turquoise🙄? Or i have to buy both
Right as you noted that the white shift was off my phone went onto night mode and turned yellow.......
it is such a lovely color and i can t wait untill the next color spotlight!!! I learned so much from your channel!!! It is very usefull
Love your vipercorn, though! It’s super cute, and I like the illustrative style even if you don’t feel as comfortable! =^.^=
Meow Meow Kapow which other color did you say you wanted? Fibro fog. Send me an a email and I'll send you some.
In Liquid Color pffffffft. Heck if I know! Narcolepsy fog, baybeeeee. =>.
Meow Meow Kapow haha okay f you think of it, let me know!
Wonderful video! I'm curious: when you do the mixes, do you do kind of a random sampling of the colour that you are mixing with? It doesn't seem to be a specifically graduated mix from left to right--more as though your brush is playing around on the pallette, taking its time to get to the other end of the chart. :)
Here's a video for that :) ruclips.net/video/NSwOiNecUH4/видео.html
Thank you so much!!
Vipercorn has the magnetic power of loveeezzzzzzz
YES! That's a suburb video idea :) Rose of Ultramarine takes the absolute crown for me there. Favorite hue, never paint with it.
Would you choose sennelier's version, holbein's version, or Daniel smith's version? I don't have access to M Graham in my country :( Thank you for the video, it made me want to buy it (don't know if this is good or bad though)...
Whichever is most affordable for you! They're all lovely.
In Liquid Color Thank you once again!
In Liquid Color thank you sm !
Very informative video, thanks! I am a little distressed about hearing of your health problems, I have also had some problems with my health care, would you be interested in hearing what has helped me? Weird place to ask but please let me know. Have a Grand Day!
Vipercorn Superpower : My bite brings life, not death
Can you make this teal if you don’t have it as love teal?
This is a pretty unique color. You can get a similar hue with a cool phthalo blue/green mixture and adding white, but it wont have the same properties.
These teals are very close to cyan as one of the four elements in the official CMYK color system and therefore mixes extremely well
Accoarding to my experiments the closest to cyan is phthalo blue PB15:3 (used by me is made by Mungyo, they call it "Cerulean blue"). I compared it with cyan extracted from cartridge of ink printer (Canon) and it seems and behaves almost the same way. I like CMY system in my watercolour paletes.
What about cobalt turquoise (PB36)? How would it compare to cobalt teal?

I'm actually an affiliate for Angela's classes and have links in a few of my videos. Hope the course is going well!
I'm doing my best to send out emails now regarding cobalts specifically but it would be impossible for me to find the information on the hundreds of others out there 💔 I did inquire to DS when I did the vegan video regarding their Primatek colors and they said they're ethically sources as a blanket statement but didn't give dither information. .
I know you don’t really do the illustrative thing, but dang that vipercorn is cute!
Legoduckie aww thanks so much! I think he's pretty cute too!
Winsor & Newton seem to be the most ethical company regarding child labour and similar issues.
Much nicer without the marker at the end!!!
Currently awaiting delivery of Daniel Smith's Cobalt Teal stick. **heartbroken**
What's done is done, so do try to enjoy it! It is a lovely color
Oh my gosh, such a cute derpy vipercorn! Whatever his power is, I imagine he's a little bumbling in how he goes about using it.
i dont think he looks derpy at all!
Aw thanks Grace!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on them!
Lol♀️♂️♀️♂️
Haha! Good one Wendy! :)
