So nice to see your interaction with your dad, Danny. You’re the best teacher but an even better son. You are an inspiration to humanity in a world that is increasingly, seemingly void of those virtues. Thank you for an outstanding lesson in bunker play and a wonderful display of a father son relationship.
to those of us that loved to golf with our dads and have lost them, it's beautiful watching you and your dad together. It makes me so happy to see him improve with your tips too!
Dear Danny, your skills as a golf teacher were already well known, what is clear in this video is the complicity between you and your father united by the passion for golf. What a beautiful image ! Thank you as always. Your golf student Manuel from Italy 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
What I love about this video is that you genuinely want to teach and your Dad genuinely wants to learn. This isn’t just for RUclips, it’s for your Dad to improve and love golf more. Brilliant, as always!
Danny, another example of a lesson and principles which can bee applied by any golfer, any ability. So many golf online coaches seem to get lost in the bullshit and science, which is actually of no interest to 99% of golfers. The majority of us just want to know: 1) what we are trying to achieve 2) how it feels to achieve that particular shot 3) simple visual check points to keep us on the right path Great work pal, keep it up
I love seeing these lessons with your dad. Being of a similar age and having similar problems with bunker play, I can really identify with this. Thanks a lot Danny.
I have been terrible with some of my bunker shots. Watching this video should help me to be consistent. Always enjoy the lessons with Mr Maude Senior. Get up the good work Mr Maude's
At some point, the teacher becomes the student. Seeing you teach your Dad is inspirational. And he is a good student. He taught you life lessons growing up, now you teach him golf. What a great trade. This video made me clearly understand the method to get out of bunkers. Well done "Daniel"
Thank you Danny for this video and all the other informative videos you do!! This video is very special, to see you and your Dad together is a beautiful thing, love it!! 🏌🏼♂️
Love your Dad. I'm sure many of us has adopted him as our own. Great video. Ive been struggling so much out the bunker. I'm sure this is the missing piece in my hitting out of bunkers. Thank you.
Loving the videos Danny. Highlight of my weekend is waking up to watch a new DM video. The strange thing is that your videos are usually about what I’ve been thinking about the whole week (when I should be concentrating on my work 😳), weird huh? Love the vids with Mr Maude, pls keep them coming.
Great video as always. I found a previous video showing a split hand takeaway drill, for me the most important and game changing drill I have practiced. Great instruction.
These videos warm my heart. It’s beyond the fantastic instruction and simple explanations. Makes me miss my dad so much. Thank you both for sharing the relationship! “Daniel”, you are brilliant, sir! ❤
I practised this in the nets about an hour after seeing this and was amazed at the lovely high flight. Worked a treat on the course from the side of the greens. A real game changer - thanks Danny
Danny: Two brilliant lesson videos with your dad. The cupping of the wrist on the bunker shots and the 'ferris wheel' on the chip shots - cannot wait to try those two examples out today. Thanks.
I've been at the game for over 20 years now...Practice 2,3 times a week and play at least once a week...I have struggled with bunkers from the beginning and still find them daunting...This video is PRICELESS!!!! I have never read, viewed or been taught this simple techique of maintaining the cupping of the wrist through the entire swing...I tried this today in a round and could not believe the results! I don't think I've hit a bunker shot any better than this one today...I just can't understand why this is not a basic technique of bunker play...Instuctors dwell on getting down and, making correct contact....If your swing is flawed, is doesn't matter how well you approach the ball in the sand...I believe this concept should be taught before worrying about where to contact the sand, IMHO...Having your Dad in the vid was the "cherry on the cake"...Tony
This is a brilliant lesson and so timely for me as I am also struggling with bunker play and short game. Excellent video and explanations, as always. Thanks
I too struggle getting out of the bunker consistently. Can’t wait to try cupping the wrists. So enjoy seeing your coaching vids with your dad. Well done Danny as always.
THANK YOU, DANNY !! After struggling most of my golf career with bunker shots, this video really improved my bunker game. I used to aim away from any bunkers just so there was no possibility that I would hit one. I would either chunk it and leave it in the bunker or blade it 50 yards over the green. Today I was in 2 greenside bunkers and was able to not only get out, but hit the greens and got up and down both times. The "cup" move saved me. Thanks again.
Great lesson. I wish I could have shared a love of a sport with my dad the way you do with yours. Keep up the good work and thank your dad for us, for sharing his lesson.
Superb video , the cupping of the wrists makes so much sense . I love the fact you work with your Dad fantastic his progress this year is lovely to see and you carried on in the squall !!!!
I am so glad I just so this as I struggle in the bunker and was planning a trip to the range tomorrow to practice. Now I cannot wait to try this out. Thank you for having your dad back on again.
Very timely! Had a great round yesterday ruined by a triple bogey on a par 3 caused by thinning it out the bunker across the green. Will try this new drill today at the range!
This was brilliant Danny. Having played golf for almost 40 years and seen a lot of bunker videos, I can’t remember any pro talking about the cupped wrists in this way. Thanks to you and your dad!
Danny, I can always get out of a bunker but with variable amounts of sand. This is the first time I’ve ever seen any instruction on maintaining cupping of the wrists back and through. I have hands low like you’ve previously taught but I’ve probably been releasing my wrists ! Brilliant - nice to see you Dad pleased again.
Wow! That's amazing Danny! You got your dad fixed his bunker shots in less than 15 minutes. I can't wait to try it out. By the way, does this technique work with fluffy sand too? I usually either scold the ball or go too much underneath the ball on fluffy sand. Thanks for any suggestions for me to work on. 🙏
turning through makes a lot of sense. I swore I'd never cup my wrists again but looks like it can be useful at times. your dad caught on to this so quickly. didn't work for me until i got lower in my stance then just right. good vid danny.
There are many people who are great at what they do, but the rare few who are great at teaching others. You have the ability not only to explain what to do but why what someone is doing is incorrect. In our minds, we all think we are doing it correctly, but it is those minute details that you pick up on and explain clearly that makes a world of difference.
Love the Dad videos….your mother must be happier too now your Dad is happier..lol. He must be winning lots off his friends too. Great explanation. Thanks
Danny, I'm a half decent amateur golfer (HI 9.4) and get to play once a week as a rule with no time for practice. My short game (chipping and bunker play) has been woeful for a couple of years - this includes shanking probably 7/10 bunker shots and has destroyed my confidence in those areas of my game. Your lesson for cupping the wrist (and keeping the clubbed outside the line on the way back) for chipping a week or so ago , and this one in the bunker with your Dad, has made an enormous difference immediately for me. I still need to practice more (on and off course) but that one thing has had a massive impact on my confidence. Thanks Danny (as always!) 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great lesson Danny. Just getting the hands down low seems to take care of the cupping. Now I know why it works. Golf is so hard. Need a swing for driver, 3 wood, hybrids, irons, chipping, sand, and putting. And of course add a few additional variables to the swing for uneven lies, the rough, plugged bunker shots, and the wind and it is a miracle I ever break 80!
It's worth emphasizing that the shaft lean and left hand bowing that makes your other irons a solid strike is the EXACT opposite of the left hand cupping and lack of forward shaft lean needed to allow the bounce to keep the club from digging in. I've never had this explained and I think it might be huge. Thanks.
Never really understood the importance of maintaining the cupped wrist - and the consequent thin or fat shots because of variable depth of shot - until this explanation. Very helpful. Thanks
So nice to see your interaction with your dad, Danny. You’re the best teacher but an even better son.
